  1. I was searching for a hotel relatively close to Dodger Stadium. Who am I to complain about a 4* at this price? It was listed as "(1.2 - 2.5 mi from search location) " Amenities were: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access
  2. I just booked this hotel on Hotwire for a stay in May (rate was a bit higher, amenities the same, so I assume its the same hotel) and it was the Westin Bonaventure. I'll post this as a separate thread, too.
  3. This turned out to be this hotel: Manchester Grand Hyatt One Market Place San Diego, California 92101 (619) 232-1234 Features were: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Room was booked for 1 night, 1 adult. Interestingly, I did the search again to get the features list, and its now showing $149/night.
  4. Just got back from this last night. Wonderful hotel, we'll look to stay at it again. Add $26 to the price-tag for the inevitable valet parking, though.
  5. 1 room at $89/night, fees of $17.34, total $106.34. Star rating didn't show up. This is a 4* hotel. Can the mod edit this? Amenities: Fitness Center Pool Restaurants Business Center
  6. 3* Holiday Inn Airport Amenities: Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness With fees, $75.95. Rate per the Holiday Inn Website: $111.20 per night w/o taxes (or higher) Thanks, Hotwire & Better Bidding. :)
  7. This turned out to be the Anaheim Hilton by the Convention Center. I was actually expecting the Hyatt. This is an especially fantastic deal for us, because we are going to a Convention at the Convention Center that weekend. The Convention website shows the hotel as sold out, and had it at a price of $155/night, which with taxes is probably closer to $175/night. So, not only is it the perfect location, its a terrific price. 1 room(s) @ $83.00 per night x 2 night(s) $166.00 Taxes and fees: $33.95 Hotel Subtotal $199.95 Total Price $199.95 Hotel amenities: Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center High Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Business Center
  8. My wife and I were lucky enough to be drawn for tickets to the American Idol finale, so we're heading down to LA tomorrow. This hotel turns out to be the Wilshire Grand (I thought it was the Westin Bonaventure, similar amenities). We've stayed there before via Hotels.com for considerably more, and the room was nice, except we had issues with our air conditioning. For $77, its still a bargain and its very centrally located. They will soak us for about $25 for parking, though. BTW, I did not see "High Speed Internet" listed on the amenity description in Hotwire, which is why I got tripped up on the hotel name. Here's the details: 1 room(s) @ $77.00 per night x 1 night(s) $77.00 Taxes and fees: $15.95 Hotel Subtotal $92.95 Total Price $92.95 BTW, website price for the hotel is $119 and up for tomorrow night.
  9. This is the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis. It came up as a 4* with the following amenities: Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center High Speed Internet Access Business Center. 1 room(s) @ 94.00 per night x 2 nights: $188.00 Taxes and Fees: 28.95 Total Cost: $214.95 Friends of ours stayed in this hotel for a convention last summer. They paid somewhere around $300/night, although they booked late. The convention rate was over $200/night. So to get this for less than 1/2 prcie was very nice. This is a very nice hotel with excellent access to downtown and freeways.
  10. As a quick follow-up, Hotels.com has this hotel for $169, the same as the hotel's website, and I used to book a lot of hotels through Hotels.com. Now I've learned a better way. :) Thanks!
  11. We're heading down to LA this weekend, and thanks to the boards I was easily able to identify my hotel as the 3.5* Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites. Total cost broke down as follows: Hotel 1 room(s) @ $76.00 per night x 1 nights $76.00 Taxes and Fees: $16.95 Hotel Total: $92.95 They have the Hilton Checkers this weekend for $89, which is also a great deal, we just decided we wanted to try out the new "Heavenly Bed" that Westin is promoting. Posted rates on the hotel website for this weekend are $169 - $179 for all but the swankiest rooms.
  12. My wife and I are going to meet my brother in Phoenix next weekend (Scottsdale), and we needed rooms. We decided to go for resort in Scottsdale. Here's the bidding history. $75 - Scottsdale - rejected $82 - Added Phoenix Airport (no resorts) - rejected $90 - Added Metro Center (no resorts) - rejected $97 - Added Mesa (no resorts ) - accepted. Resort Phoenix (Scottsdale) Plaza Resort Check-In Date: Saturday, February 12, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, February 13, 2005 Your Offer Price: $97.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $194.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $33.84 Total Charges: $227.84 I checked rates on the hotel's website and rates for that weekend are between $229 and $289. Not too shabby!
  13. Based on the features, I'm now thinking the 4* is Mission Palms. The last 2 reviews on tripadvisor, which are much more current than the earlier ones, give it pretty poor ratings. I saw someone on the PL side with a bidding strategy on Camelback I may use.
  14. 3.5* North Scottsdale $67 on Hotwire. Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby I don't see a match on the master list. Any ideas? Also, does anyone know how far Scottsdale is from Tempe? There's a $101 4* "Customer Favorite" in Tempe (Mission Palms or The Buttes, I believe) that sounds like a good deal.
  15. Those reviews are a bit mixed. There was a 4.5* available for $136, and while its about twice the price after fees, it may be a nicer place. I'll make a decision in a couple of days. Thanks for the great site, btw. My brother told me about it the other day and I know I'll be watching it for a lot of my trips.
  16. I'll reply to myself...This looks like it could be the Embassy Suites Airport at 44th. Anybody know anything about it?
  17. Okay, this is my first post, so go easy on me. :) I will be in Scottsdale 2/12 - 2/13 and went to Hotwire to look for rooms. The airport is a few miles away, however since I'll be driving down from LV I have a car so its no big deal. Anyway, a 3.5* $61 hotel came up with the following amenities: Suite Airport Shuttle Restaurants Complimentary Breakfast Pools Fitness Center Kitchenettes Any ideas what it might be? $61 seems like a great deal for a 3.5*
