  1. On February 13th I bid for a 2.5 Downtown Seattle and University of Washington for 85.00 and was rejected. I attended a class with a gentleman from Seattle. He related that for the price of 79.00 I could stay at the Days Inn which is about 5-6 blocks away. I have a current reservation there but am not locked in and can cancel anytime up to 16:00 day of arrival. So as of now that is my course of action. Thanks for the suggestions so far and any other recommendations or insights will be appreciated.
  2. I haven't been to Seattle before so I am not crystal clear. I have looked at the maps and can hopefully jump the monorail if need be. I'm not against traveling although I will not have a vehicle. My plan is to get off a cruise ship and stay three extra days in Seattle to see the sites. We will probably take the ferry to Victoria for one day. My wife and I are not picky about the lodging. We don't plan to be there except to sleep. Hopefully a centralized location to the tourist stuff, clean and safe. I see Priceline rates the Red Lion Inn a 3* that scares me with the negative reviews that TripAdvisor has for this Inn. Any bidding strategies would be greatly appreciated.
  3. My maximum bid without taxes would currently be 85.00. I don't care what rating hotel it is, just so it is close to the Seattle Downtown (Pikes Place) area. Thanks for the recommendations.
  4. I was going to stay in Seattle for three nights in the beginning of June. My second set of bids pn Priceline were as follows: 70.00 downtown at a 3* rejected/ 75.00 downtown & Lake Union at a 3* rejected/ 80.00 downtown/Lake Union/Northgate at a 3* rejected. Anybody have any ideas on current bids accepted downtown for 3* and 2.5*? I am not picky as far as a place to stay I do not plan on being in my room except to sleep. Is parking cost a consideration? The 2.5* hotels I am sure will be fine for me but will they be out of the way? I have never been to Seattle and just want to take in the tourist sites. My stay will be a Saturday, Sunday and Monday, June 3,4,5. Any suggestions about touring Boeing, Victoria, or Seattle would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and helpful replies :)
  5. :) I was pleased on the bid and GREATLY APPRECIATE all the help from this board! In February on Priceline I bid: Alexandria at $45 rejected added Springfield at $50 rejected added Crystal City at $55 rejected added Arlington at $60 rejected downgraded to a 2 1/2 from 3 and was accepted at $60 for the Residence Inn Alexandria Old Town. I will have to work with the parking but the price is very nice. Some notes for the very new! You have to learn the system before you particiapte correctly. You also have to know you are going to make the trip! I have spoken to too many people that are too wishy washy and indecisive on their plans. After reading the insurance offered for cancellation I think it is a waste. I did not know that to aid the board I was suppose to go through the sponsors (www.savingsbarn.com) which I was correctly reminded to do. I am very grateful for the TravelGuy for his advice and thereuare for monitoring and advising this board. Thanks again guys! thefiretourguide :)
  6. I am trying to stay in DC from July 14th to July 19th in the Crystal City area. I bid Priceline Crystal City 3 star $45 added Springfield $50 both rejected. I waited 72 hours bid Crystal City at $55 added Springfield at $62 both rejected. Any advice from the experiece bidder out there? If I added Alexandria/Mt. Vernon and Arlington any thoughts on accepted bids for these areas? Thanks for any help!
  7. I am very new to this bidding game and want to stay in Crystal City or Arlington areas. I am not very picky on my end result because it is just me and my wife. The items I would like are pool, close to metro, and free parking if possible ( I know the free parking is rough in Crystal City but if I get the right low bid I don't care). Any advise would be greatly appreciated; and I mean greatly! My dates are July 14th leaving on the 19th. Thanks for your help. I can't believe how everyone helps everybody. Could you also suggest if I would be better off bidding on Priceline or Hotwire with my requests?
