  6. Using PL's new Express feature to pinpoint hotels with amazing accuracy. Said $50 for what had to be this hotel. So I bid $43 and lost. Added in a 1* for a free rebid and hit the jackpot at $44. Going to a wedding and I am paying half of all the other chumps!
  7. Staying here now. Kind of a dive. More like a 3 star.
  8. This is also a new hotel for the board. Please add to list.

  11. I purchased a hotel in Florence on Hotwire UK. This site has a vastly different selection from hotwire.com. In my experience, the deals are much worse (for hotels that don't appear on the American site). Often they are just 10% off of the advanced purchase price publicly available. But the selection is far wider. And for hotels that appear on both sites, the prices on the UK site are slightly cheaper ($5-$15). Until a couple days ago, they were publishing TripAdvisor ratings with NUMBER of reviews, so it wasn't opaque at all. That has disappeared unfortunately. Is BetterBidding aware of this site and tracking it? Should I "post my win"? I don't imagine it would serve as much use to future travelers, as this site isn't geared towards Hotwire UK use. What about a win on lastminute.com for that matter? (These instances really only apply to America and Europe, as Hotwire UK doesn't have better inventory for Asia, etc. But even Santa Barbara has more hotels on Hotwire UK than on Hotwire USA.)
  12. Kind of a ripoff. This price is essentially the advanced purchase price on the hotel's website MINUS $10. But ALSO... minus breakfast. So they take away the breakfast and take away $10. Not exactly a huge savings. Avoid four star bidding in Italy! No good deals!
  13. I have had experiences where it removed that data after I bought the hotel.
  14. Priceline recently carved up three zones in the Boston area and turned them into six zones. I caught the changes yesterday. Thanks to Google Maps, I have now put all the old hotels into new zones: Boston (Cambridge East - Charlestown) 4* Hotel Marlowe REVIEW 4* Royal Sonesta 3.5* Marriott Cambridge tripadvisor review 3* Residence Inn Cambridge 3* Residence Inn Boston Harbor On Tudor Wharf 2.5* Holiday Inn Express Boston (Cambridge West - Harvard) 4* Hyatt Regency Cambridge (previously 3.5*) REVIEW / tripadvisor review 4* Le Meridien Cambridge Hotel @ MIT 3.5* Doubletree Guest Suites 3* Courtyard by Marriott Boston (Copley Square - Back Bay) 4* Back Bay Hotel 4* Colonnade Hotel REVIEW / tripadvisor review 4* Copley Square Hotel-- (previously 3*) REVIEW 4* Westin REVIEW / tripadvisor review 4* Eliot Hotel 4* Fairmont Copley Plaza tripadvisor review 4* Sheraton Boston REVIEW / tripadvisor review (formerly a 3.5*) 3.5* Hilton Back Bay REVIEW 3.5* Boston Marriott Copley Place tripadvisor review 2* John Hancock Hotel Boston (Boston Common - Theater District) 4* W Hotel 4* Taj Boston (previously 5*) 4* Hyatt Regency Boston REVIEW / tripadvisor review 4* Nine Zero (a Kimpton Hotel) 4* Omni Parker House REVIEW 3.5* Boston Park Plaza (in new Boston Common - Theatre District zone) REVIEW / tripadvisor review 3.5* Radisson Boston (previously 3*) tripadvisor review 3* Courtyard Downtown (275 Tremont Street) 3* Doubletree REVIEW / tripadvisor review Boston (Beacon Hill) 4* Liberty Hotel 4* Onyx REVIEW 3* Bulfinch Hotel 3* Holiday Inn at Beacon Hill Holiday Inn Select Government Center Boston (Quincy Market - Financial District) 4* Ames Hotel 4* Hilton Financial District Wyndham Boston REVIEW / tripadvisor review 4* Millenium Bostonian (previously 3.5*) 3.5* Club Quarters REVIEW More rebids for us! Yay. Notice also the Sheraton upgrade to 4*.
  15. Take note there is a new zone for USC that has 1* and 2* hotels only. Essentially that means you can win either the Vagabond Inn or the Radisson USC, though neither has been reported. ;-)
  16. Are people thinking the Burnsley All Suite?
  17. Suite Boutique Smoke Free Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Kitchenette "We are still gathering reviews for this property." $66 "Super savings*" 4/5 TA Any thoughts, anyone?
  18. I think one issue is the way PRICELINE paints its zone, which only encompasses one area which has many pricey hotels, whereas HOTWIRE has several different zones. I'd be curious to see how wide a net Travelocity draws.
  19. Romelle, you're in luck, as I had a friend who PLed a hotel in Istanbul for November. He bid up and up until he won at $170. I remember he thought that was high. Not sure which hotel he won, sorry! But from what I can recall he was happy because the 4* Istanbul hotels on PRICELINE can go for $300...
  20. Forgot to mention that anything below $85 PL flashed red and said the bid was too unlikely to be accepted. Plow onward, brave ones! Also should state that when investigating the 4* options in the City Centre in Vienna one must remember that the boundaries have been redrawn so that the dingy 4* Hotel Bellevue is now in a different zone! Someone fix the BB list.
  21. Weird night on Priceline... Started with bonus cash and watched it disappear after the clock struck midnight so this got more expensive. Won at $78. Lost at $77. Got a new hotel that was not on the BB list nor on Priceline's list of hotels using their city guides. Was able to find the link on Priceline but not easily: http://travelb.priceline.com/novotel-wien-...d=VIENNAAUSTRIA Overall, seems like a deal. Saved 50% off the price and this place seems functional, if not as much fun as a Le Meridien property. Accor is getting into the PRICELINE game big time!
