  1. Amenities: Free Parking Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Site indicated a US$19/night resort fee. Knew it was going to be this hotel before I booked it. Thanks as usual to the BB community for helping me figure out this deal.
  2. Subtotal $133.19 Total price $176.01 Regular price for this time seems to be in the $200-$210 range, so a decent discount in a very expensive city.
  3. Used BetterBidding's PRICELINE link, THANK YOU to the forum and moderators as always. It was my first bid -- I know, rookie mistake, but I'm going this weekend so I didn't want to start at a ridiculously low price. Anyway I'm happy with $85, it looks like the lowest reported going rate for 4* in the area. Offer Price: US$85.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: US$170.00 Taxes & Fees: US$39.30 Total Charged to Card: US$209.30 Thanks again!
  4. Just booked the Parc 55 Wyndham in San Francisco for a great rate of $134/night. As recent as a few days ago, there were no 4* hotels under $191 on Hotwire, but then this popped up yesterday and I finally booked it today. Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access Rate per night: CAD133.86 Nights: 4 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: CAD100.67 Subtotal: CAD636.12 I've also tried the same area (USE-4*) on Priceline, bidding up to $135/night, with no luck. I used BB's HOTWIRE link to book! Thanks as always.
  5. Won on first bid (I know, I know). After doing research on this area in Barcelona on BB, I thought that the going rate would be in the $140-range at minimum, and also there are no free rebid zones, so I started at what I thought was a number that was too low. The price that I got is just a little less than regular price on the hotel's website when you book 45 days in advance. In any case, I'm still below budget and happy with the hotel. Here are the details: Bid: $110 on 4* in La Rambla-La Barceloneta area Evenia Rossello, Rossello,191, Barcelona, 08036 Check-In: Wednesday, May 25, 2011-03:00 PM Check-Out: Sunday, May 29, 2011-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $110.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $440.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $54.60 (USD) Total Room Cost: $494.60 (USD) I used BetterBidding's PRICELINE link to make my purchase. Thanks to everyone who continues to post!
  6. Finally a successful bid after 4 days of bidding. Tonight was the first time I bid up to $130. Bid the following areas: Kensington-Earl's Court ($100 - rejected) Chelsea-Knightsbridge ($105 - rejected) Bloomsbury-Marble Arch ($110 - rejected) Mayfair-Soho ($115 - rejected) Westminster ($120 - rejected) Hammersmith - free rebid ($125 - rejected) Wembley - free rebid ($130 - accepted) Summary: Check-In Date: Wed, May 11, 2011 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, May 15, 2011 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$130.00 Subtotal: US$520.00 Taxes & Fees: US$120.96 Total Charges: US$640.96 Used BB's PRICELINE link to bid. As always, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to post their wins!
  7. Used a 48-hours only $5/night cash bonus link that Priceline sent to my email. 1st bid: 4*, $65+$5bonus = $70, Downtown Montreal => Rejected 2nd bid: 4*, $70+$5bonus= $75, added Convention Center - Old Montreal - Latin Quarter => Accepted Booked 2 rooms/night for 2 nights. Priceline gave me the option to extend my stay at the same price. Summary of costs: Offer Price Summary Bonus Cash Per Room, Per Night: US$5.00 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$70.00 Total Offer Price Per Room, Per Night with Bonus: US$75.00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Charges to your Credit Card Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$70.00 Subtotal: US$280.00 Taxes & Fees: US$63.64 Total Charges: US$343.64 Wish I could have used the site's PRICELINE link as well. Is there any way to use the email cash bonus link AND BetterBidding's? As always, thank you to everybody who continues to post/use/moderate on BB. The information you provide is incredibly useful!!
  8. Initially bid $65, was counter-offered $80. Rebid 67, 69, 71, finally accepted. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $71.00 Subtotal: $71.00 Taxes & Fees: $18.47 Total Charges*: $89.47 As a previous poster mentioned, regular price for this hotel on this date is $89 + tax = $98, so not a huge deal but still a deal nonetheless. Interestingly, I bid up to $75 last night, same date and location, didn't hit. Used the site's PRICELINE link to bid. This forum is amazing, thank you!
  9. Got an amazing deal in downtown Vancouver using an Entertainment Card for $10 bonus cash per night. Hyatt Regency Vancouver Offer Price Summary Bonus Cash Per Room, Per Night: US$10.00 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$68.00 Total Offer Price Per Room, Per Night with Bonus: US$78.00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Charges to your Credit Card Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$68.00 Subtotal: US$136.00 Taxes & Fees: US$32.82 Total Charges: US$168.82 Yellowdog -- used your strategy of loading the site's PRICELINE link fully, then typing in the Entertainment link, so hopefully it worked!
  10. Just booked what we hope to be an excellent hotel for our first time in San Francisco! Used Entertainment Card for $10 bonus cash per night. Add $10 bonus cash to each of these rejected bids for total bid: $85, $95, $103 Finally accepted $110+$10 bonus cash = $120 per night Offer Price Summary Bonus Cash Per Room, Per Night: $10.00 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $110.00 Total Offer Price Per Room, Per Night with Bonus: $120.00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Charges to your Credit Card Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $110.00 Subtotal: $330.00 Taxes & Fees: $66.66 Total Charges: $396.66 Previously tried to get USE & Financial District for same dates, bid up to $125+$10 Bonus Cash with no luck. Tonight finally added USW. Unfortunately I was not able to re-open the bonus cash site using BetterBidding's PRICELINE link (I was able to do this a few months ago.. they must have smartened up!), but will definitely use it next time. This site is wonderful, thank you!
  11. Needed a last-minute hotel booking as my flight to London was promised to actually happen (it did not, after waiting at the airport for 6 hours this morning). However I wanted to report this previously unreported hotel. DETAILS: Congratulations, your price of $120 was accepted by Hesperia London Victoria. 4* hotel room Hesperia London Victoria 2 Bridge Place London, SW1V 1QA 44-20-7834-8123 Check-In: Tuesday, April 20, 2010-02:00 PM Check-Out: Thursday, April 22, 2010-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $120.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $240.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $55.52 (USD) Total Room Cost: $295.52 (USD) My first bid was $105, second was $120 as it was my last chance to bid. I'm sure I could have booked at a lower rate, however I was booking the same day as check-in, so I had very few options. FYI - I have previously reported having a really good experience with Priceline refunding my booking due to volcanic ash. I did not purchase trip cancellation insurance that time, nor did I this time, and they had no problem refunding the full amount of my booking. Was a bit surprised to see this hotel pop up as it had never been reported before; would have been nice to see it but it seems that it was not meant to be. Used BB's PRICELINE link to bid.
  12. Hi all I had 3 nights in a hotel booked via HOTWIRE in London, UK for Apr 16-19. As Heathrow is closed, I am stuck in Canada and had to call HOTWIRE to cancel. With just a little hestitation (i.e. a weak attempt to say that they couldn't do anything), they quickly refunded the full amount of my reservation back onto my credit card. The call was followed by an email no more than 30 minutes later to confirm that a refund would be issued -- it should take up to 10 business days for the credit to be applied. FYI - I had the very same situation with Priceline (Apr 19-21), and they refunded the booking as well. It was my first time using HOTWIRE and PRICELINE - both of which had to be cancelled - but I can say that my experiences with both cust service departments were great. In both instances, I cancelled the day before my check-in date. Just wanted to share my experience - good to know that these companies can be so understanding, at least in these circumstances.
  13. FLC - I had 2 nights booked in London, UK for Monday and Tuesday night (Apr 19-20) booked through PRICELINE. As Heathrow is closed, I am stuck in Canada and had to called PRICELINE to cancel. At first they said they couldn't, but after giving them a LITTLE grief, they quickly refunded the full amount back to my credit card, no hassle whatsoever. Didn't require me to provide proof of flight cancellation or anything. Total call was 7 minutes long, 5 of which she spent verifying my reservation. FYI - I had the very same situation with Hotwire (Apr 16-19) - they were a LOT nicer about the refund, and just as efficient. It was my first time using both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE - both of which had to be cancelled - but I can say that my experiences with both cust service departments were great. In both instances, I cancelled the day before my check-in date. Good luck with your trip!
  14. Hi all, this forum is great and you are all so helpful! I just wanted to get your feedback/ideas about a booking that I'm watching. I'm looking at hotels on HOTWIRE for Apr 25-27, 2010 in Venice, Italy. 4*, amenities are Comp Breakfast, Restaurant, Hi-Speed Internet, $144/night Everything points towards the Best Western Premier Sant Elena, however the second screen shows: Recommended in 90% of customer reviewers 20+ total reviews Overall satisfaction 4.5 When I look up the hotel on TripAdvisor, it has 250+ reviews. My question -- how up-to-date is that TripAdvisor rating on HOTWIRE? Is it reliable enough to assume that it's a different property? I've looked up the other hotels on TA: 4* Hotel Saturnia and International - 90% recommend, 224 reviews 3.5* Hotel Ca' D'Oro - 84%, 108 3.5* Residenza Cannaregio - 94%, 409 Doesn't look like it's any of those, and given the low number of ratings, I'm thinking it's possibly a new property. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
  15. First foray into PRICELINE bidding... highly exciting, successful, and fun (thanks to William Shatner)! DETAILS: Congratulations, your price of $155 was accepted by Grosvenor House, A J.W. Marriott Hotel. 5* hotel room Grosvenor House, A J.W. Marriott Hotel Mayfair - Soho Park Lane London, United Kingdom 44 207 499 6363 Check-In Date: Mon, Apr 19, 2010 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Wed, Apr 21, 2010 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$155.00 Subtotal: US$310.00 Taxes & Fees: US$65.34 Total Charges: US$375.34 For those interested, MY TECHNIQUE: I first researched the hotels in this zone at the 5* level on this forum, found out which ones would be most likely won and what the lowest prices were, i.e. Marriott Grosvenor House @ 125, Marriott Grosvenor Square @ 145, Inter-Continental Park Lane @ 160 in April/May 2010. Found that most often, bidders won Grosvenor House. Assumed (hoped) I would get the same bc of location and quality of hotel (TripAdvisor). First bid $120, rejected, but was counter-offered $169. I declined, and used my free rebids using the zone technique described in this forum with great success. Rebid in increments of $5 over 2 days, finally accepted at $155. Was only counter-offered that one time. I believe that other dates would have been successful at a lower price. For some reason, Tuesday Apr 20th 2010 seems to be a more expensive night than all others at the 5 hotels I've looked at, when looking directly on the hotel's website. HOTWIRE also gave me a more expensive rate for this night specifically; must be some convention or big event in the city that night. Good luck to all looking to book this hotel! I'm excited and looking forward to a great stay!
