  1. What is going on at the Boston waterfront location at Hotwire? Previously only the Boston Harbor Hotel was a 5*. In the last few months you can add The Langham, Fairmont Battery, and the Intercontinental. Naturally The prices have all increased to reflect the higher star rating. Nothing but the rating has changed. I guess Hotwire believes we will pay an extra $40/night to say we stayed at a five star.
  2. I don't think it's the Langham. I think it's the Fairmont-Battery Warf. There are 3 5* hotels in this area. Boston Harbor and Langham both have pools but Fairmont doesn't.
  3. The Langham was a 4.5* that became a 5* after a major renovation. Great section of town. (We stayed there 3 years ago.) FYI there is only one other 5* in the Quincy Market - Financial District...The Boston Harbor Hotel. They look the same on Hotwire but the Boston Harbor has a 100% satisfaction score. I don't know The Langham score. Hope you have a good time.
  4. The site map in hotwire for the financial District is a joke! Fairmont Battery Warf is much closer to Charlestown. Quincy Market - Financial is the most desirable section to stay in Boston. Hotwire designed a district unrealistically large. It's good for the hotel (more bookings) good for hotwire (more expensive rates) bad for the consumer. It isn't fair to the Intercontinental or Langham which really are in the Quincy Market - Financial District
  5. I had the same experience last year. Talk to HOTWIRE and they will remove Langham from your possible choices
  6. Fustrated trying to get Harbor and quit at $125. Happy to get this property for the price.
  7. Both the Inter-continetial and Langham are 4.5* with a SPA. The Inter-Continential is 90% approval. We stayed at both and greatly pefer the inter-Continential.
  8. If a camel is a horse designed by a committee, this is a hotel designed by preschoolers. To get to our room we had to walk about 100 yards, take an elevator 1 floor and walk another 30 yards to our room. We were 10 yards from the ocean in a room with a private balcony (great right), but a service road was in between and we were constantly distrubed by garbage trucks, and other delivery vehicles. Sat night they had a clam bake off the service road they built a fire pit, and the ash and smoke went everywhere forcing us off the deck. and out of the room. They have a small print mandatory fee of $30 per night for parking, 2 16 oz Aquafina water and internet. Well everything says internet is $10/per day so we never used a service we were forced to purchase. They are just dishonest about the true price of the room. The staff is very friendly, but food prices are another ripp-off...$12 for a burger and fries. Twice the front desk commented that we booked on HOTWIRE. Like we got such a good deal we should be greatful to be staying at the Hyatt. Well we were happy to leaving. Generally we have been happy with HOTWIRE, but not this stay. Markar
  9. We got the Hyatt Regency Newport 6/11-6/13 for $156. Amenities: Oceanfront, restaurants, golf nearby, Fitness ct, business ct, tennis nearby, pools, High speed internet, spa
  10. I also stayed at the Langham expecting the Intercontinential. We were somewhat disappointed. The TV was an old analog...we wanted to relax and watch the Olympics. We couldn't look out at the city because the lace curtain was permanitly closed. We had other issues as well. When we first found out we scored the Langham we were very pleased...a new place to try, but instead we received a whole new appreaciation for the Intercontinental.
