  1. Thanks to your board, I had an idea on what was winning, as I needed a last minute room at LAX. Let me warn everybody, Priceline will not take bids on LAX area the day of the reservation! And to think last year at this time I was getting the same hotel for $38!!!
  2. Began bid at $60 for 4* and was rejected. I added Luton and raised bid to $62 and Skyline accepted. This is a replacement for the Holiday Inn Ariel which was downgraded and refunded by Priceline. Sheraton Skyline Bath Road Hayes, United Kingdom 44 20 8759 2535 Your Offer Price: $62.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $62.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $17.48 Total Charges: $79.48
  3. They didn't ask and were quite apologetic. When I got through to Liz, I began my conversation by saying that I understand that this hotel has been downgraded. Immediately she offered the full refund. Very easy!
  4. This hotel has been downgraded from a 4* to a 3*. I called Priceline this morning and they refunded the entire amount back to my credit card. :)
  5. I won a bid for the LHR Holiday Inn Ariel for November. I called Priceline and they gave me a credit of the entire amount including fees because of the downgrade.
  6. DON'T ever add Culver City as a rebid. There are alot of dumps which will take your $37. If you really want an LAX hotel, this is how I bid. I start out with 4* and $60 (just a year ago the Westin won with $45!). When that is rejected I lower to 3* and then lower my bid to say $35. When that is rejected, I add Santa Monica and increase bid to $36. I have been winning the LAX Marriott. However, for my bid in November, since I had no luck for LAX hotels in October, I started again with 4* and $60, it was rejected and I dropped to 3* and $45 and won the LAX Gateway Sheraton. If that doesn't work, I add Beverly Hills and then Brentwood. Don't raise your bid!
  7. Started with $20 bid at 4* and went down the star levels with $20 bid when 2* won. Fairfield Inn And Suites Toronto Airport 3299 Caroga Drive Mississauga, Ontario L4V 1A3 905-673-9800
  8. Began with 4* and $60, denied. Dropped to 3* and dropped bid to $45. Accepted! Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles 6101 West Century Boulevard Los Angeles, California 90045 310-642-1111 Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $12.48 Total Charges: $57.48
  9. I was trying for an LAX hotel since I arrive late on September 6. I had started with 4* at $48 in LAX area, denied and dropped to 3* and bid $36, denied and I added Marina del Rey/Santa Monica and bid $38, denied and added Beverly Hills/WeHo and bid $40, denied and added BelAir/Brentwood at $41, denied and added downtown and $43. Lucky me!!! Miyako Hotel Los Angeles 328 East First Street Los Angeles, California 90012 213-617-2000 Your Offer Price: $43.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $43.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $12.18 Total Charges: $55.18 I have been trying to bid on 3* LAX hotels for September, October and November and not having any luck, until now, but I bet if I try for a room for tomorrow night I would get the Marriott for $36. So much for bidding early!
  10. I am really starting to like this hotel! The cheeseburger I got from room service gets a 10 from me. :) Your Offer Price: $36.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.16 Total Charges: $47.16
  11. Won on first bid. Holiday Inn London Heathrow Ariel 118 Bath Road Hayes, United Kingdom 44 870 400 9040 Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $16.14 Total Charges: $71.14 The hotel website has an internet pre-paid price of 42 GBP (including taxes) so I don't think I did very good on this win.
  12. Marriott Los Angeles Airport (LAX) 5855 West Century Blvd Los Angeles, California 90045 310-641-5700 Your Offer Price: $36.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.04 Total Charges: $47.04 I really enjoyed my stay here a couple of weeks ago, so I am pleased that I won it again.
  13. Started with 4* and $20 bid and worked my way down the star level until I won this 2* Fairfield Inn And Suites Toronto Airport 3299 Caroga Drive Mississauga, Ontario L4V 1A3 905-673-9800 Check-In Date: Sunday, June 20, 2004 Check-Out Date: Monday, June 21, 2004 Your Offer Price: $20.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $20.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $7.77 (US dollars) Total Charges: $27.77 (US dollars) I won't be using the room. Can somebody else use it?
  14. I started bidding at $35 hoping to get the Sheraton Gateway since I have a meeting in an office building across the street from there, however that was rejected. I added Santa Monica/Marina del Rey and increased bid to $36. I was shocked that I won the Marriott. I haven't seen that win in years! And the office building is on the other side, so not a big deal that I didn't get the Sheraton. Marriott Los Angeles Airport (LAX) 5855 West Century Blvd Los Angeles, California 90045 310-641-5700 Your Offer Price: $36.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.04 Total Charges: $47.04
  15. Got it on my first try. Will be attending the Jaquar/Leading Hotels of the World event at the California Speedway on June 19 and shopping at the Dessert Hills Premium Outlets.
  16. I have been trying for 4* hotels in downtown Sacramento to no avail. I really needed something near the airport for a 6:30am flight, so settled for South Natomas. Congratulations, you got your price of $39 for a 2
  17. Don't bother with a Hilton card. I stayed there two weeks ago on a Priceline bid, the man checking me in refused to put my HH number into the record stating management has told them not to. One little tip though, anyone can go up to the 44th floor and enter the lounge. So if you want a free breakfast, or snacks... :)
  18. Bid of $185. They came back with they will accept if I raise bid $25. Bid $210-accepted. Taxes and fees $31.24. Total Charges: $241.24. Since the room will be for two people and I need twin beds, I called the hotel and they told me to fax my request and it will be no problem.
