  1. Previously unsuccessful attempt at $85 - looks like a good deal as it's $179 on hotel website, $159 advance purchase rate on Expedia for same dates. Total for 3 nights $319.92 including taxes and fees. Used BB PRICELINE link to bid.
  2. Previous unsuccessful bid at $70. Price paid = $74 + $17.73 taxes & fees = $91.73 (USD)
  3. All-in for two nights including taxes and fees was USD $213.46. Used BetterBidding's PRICELINE link to book. Previously unsuccessful bid for 4* at $85.
  4. Previously tried unsuccessfully at $60. Total including taxes and fees was $77.88. This is a huge conference hotel and the most likely 4* everyone will get in this zone.
  5. Used the PRICELINE link for all the bidding. Tried bidding 4* up to $95, then decided to give 3* a shot and use the savings elsewhere. (Note: at $95 I received a counteroffer - "standard" $22 - so I must have been close to the minimum.) Did not want to wait to re-bid, since there are no re-bid zones for 3*, so just bid $80 as a mid-point of previous reports of $75 and $86 to make sure the reservation would go through. Details: Doubletree Hotel Jersey City 455 Washington Boulevard Jersey City, NJ 07310 201-499-2400 Check-In: Friday, May 14, 2010-03:00 PM Check-Out: Sunday, May 16, 2010-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $80.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $160.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $33.80 (USD) Total Room Cost: $193.80 (USD) Room rates on hotel website are $169 for unrestricted and $152 for advance purchase (i.e. same rate Expedia has).
  6. Actually, there is a subway line that runs underneath University Avenue... at Queen and University, literally just a short block (which just includes the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts) west of the Sheraton hotel is the Osgoode subway station, which is just 2 stops away from Union station. This station is directly connected to Rogers Centre via Skywalk, and it could be up to ~10 min walk on game night due to crowds. Trains run at intervals of 3-5 minutes, and cash fare is $3 (tokens are 5 for $12.50). Enjoy your stay!
  7. A much simpler way to redeem the bonus cash is to go through the BetterBidding.com PRICELINE link and then just signing into the website with your e-mail address/password. Under "My Profile" tab at the top right browser corner, right next to the "Sign Out" tab, there is an option to select "My Rewards". Bonus cash offers for hotels/car rentals will be shown here, so click on that bonus cash link to start your purchase.
  8. Previously bid for White House and Dupont to $88 with no success. Re-opened the bidding page (using BetterBidding.com PRICELINE link, of course) and lowered star rating to 3.5 with first offer of $75 accepted. Rack rate is $230 ($263.35 incl. taxes) for May 6th and $120 ($137.40 incl. taxes) for May 7th on hotel website, and total with all taxes would have come up to $422.01 through Expedia. Bid details: The Westin Washington, DC City Center 1400 M Street Nw Washington, DC 20005 202-429-1700 Check-In: Thursday, May 6, 2010-03:00 PM Check-Out: Saturday, May 8, 2010-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $75.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $150.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $29.64 (USD) Total Room Cost: $179.64 (USD)
  9. I was bidding on a 3* or above property, aiming for either Copley Square or Financial District. Attempt #1: Copley Square + Financial > $75 > Counter-offer: increase by at least $22 (rejected) Attempt #2: Copley Square + Financial + Fenway > $78 > Counter-offer: increase by at least $22 (rejected) Attempt #2: Copley Square + Financial + North Cambridge > $81 > Accepted by Sheraton Boston (3.5*) Details: Your Offer Price: $81.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $324.00 Taxes and Fees: $58.44 Total Charges*: $382.44 Of course, I used the betterbidding.com PRICELINE link to do my searches and purchasing, as should everyone! Rack rate from hotel website is $237 + taxes/fees (would have come out to a total of $1,088, or average $272 per night), Expedia average is $245 per night, and I think it was around $85 on Hotwire.
  10. Bid $73 for a 3-star in Copley Square + North Cambridge (free re-bid*) through the forum's PRICELINE link. Offer was accepted and "upgraded" to 3.5 star Boston Park Plaza. Details: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $73.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $292.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $53.40 (USD) Total Room Cost: $345.40 (USD) *Note: I actually bid these dates in error (travel dates are June 22-26)... Managed to get bid cancelled for a fee of one day's stay, which will be refunded (minus $25 cancellation fee) upon making a new reservation for different dates. Lesson learned: do not bid at 4:30am. Hope that forum members at least find this information helpful in making their own bids.
