  1. Just a quick follow up. We've decided to stick with the backup hotel we booked (Allegro Playacar). The renovations are complete and reviews are starting to look better. I'm sure it will do for what we need.
  2. Thank you so much for the suggestions. After researching a little further, I'm now under the impression that the 3.5* in Playcar is actually the Allegro Playacar rather than the Reef Playacar, based on the original pricing HOTWIRE shows. I found the same hotel on Trip Advisor for $166/nt with free cancellation up to a couple days before our trip so I went ahead and booked that for now. Will continue watching HOTWIRE to see if anything better (and identifiable) comes up between now and then. The Allegro Playacar is finishing up a complete renovation so I'm hoping the hotel will be better than recent reviews indicate by the time we get there.
  3. We're looking for something on a beautiful swimable beach. A room with an ocean view would be a plus. We're looking to spend under $1k for the five nights for a regular hotel and maybe up to $1500 if it's all inclusive. If we don't stay in an all inclusive then we'd like to be somewhere within walking distance of restaurants in an area like Isla Mujeres or Playa del Carmen. This is just a trip for a little down time. Found an amazing air fare and jumped on it, not looking for anything too fancy. If that one on Isla Mujeres is really the Mia Reef, that might be perfect for us. The water around it looks great and all the rooms are ocean view. Town not too far of a walk if we get sick of the food there. Just spotted this one too, which I think is the Reef Playacar? If so, it might work for us too since we could still go into town for dinners if the all inclusive food isn't very good. Looks like the beach is quite nice at least. $330 * original price $152 Hotwire price per night 54% off 3.5-star All-inclusive Hotel in Playacar area 8.0 - 10.2 mi from search center 8 out of 10 Good Free parking, Free breakfast, Resort, Beachfront hotel, Free food and drinks, A la carte dining, Free water activities, Free entertainment, Free activities, Children's activities, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Spa services Trip Advisor 4.0 (2001+ reviews)
  4. $676 * original price $194 hotwire price per night 71% off 4.5-star All-inclusive Hotel in Playa del Secreto - Playa Paraiso area Trip advisor 4.5 (2001+ reviews) FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Resort, Beachfront hotel, Free food and drinks, A la carte dining, Free water activities, Smoke-free rooms, Free entertainment, Free activities, Children's activities, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible path of travel, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking There is another 4.5* for $328/nt, which I believe is the Valentin Imperial Maya since that one includes "premium drinks" in the amenities. It also disappears if I select 1 adult and 1 child and I know the Valentin is adults only. That leaves me stumped on the one above.
  5. original price $324 * Hotwire price $165 per night 49% off 4-star Resort in Isla Mujeres area 1/29/17 - 2/3/17 0.0 - 4.5 mi from search center 8 out of 10 Good Full amenities: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Resort, Beachfront hotel, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Internet access, Spa services, Children's activities Trip Advisor: 3.5 (1501 - 2000 reviews) This looks like it could be the Mia Reef, but that is advertised as "all inclusive" and this only mentions breakfast. Any help will be appreciated!
  6. Area actually says "Goodyear-Avondale". Online hotel rate was $139.00. Our total came to $89.05 w/ taxes and fees. Very happy with this property for the price! Amenities: Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Fitness center Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Accessible for visually impaired Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Accessible parking Roll-in shower
  7. Amenities listed: Near Beach, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet Access This turned out to be the exact hotel I was hoping for. The location is perfect for the event we are attending. Used the HOTWIRE link through this forum. Very happy!
  8. I didn't make the actual purchase, just talked my friend through it over the phone. Looking online, if I go in to start the booking process here is what it shows in addition to the above: business center laundry facilities (self-service) high speed internet access accessible bathroom handicapped parking Apparently, the front desk offered to change their room but she was "too grossed out by the whole hotel" and left to find somewhere else to stay without even looking at another room. Just when I thought travel agents might have a fun job, no way. I couldn't deal with being responsible for making sure everyone is happy with their accommodations, etc. You just never know what someones expectations are really like.
  9. Here are the amenities that were listed: Free Parking Free Internet Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) I helped my friend book this room. She is refusing to stay there now because it smells like mold and there are cigarette burns on the comforter etc. That's what I get for helping a friend with travel arrangements. I should know better Sounds like 3.5* is not an accurate rating for this hotel. I believe it was a Sheraton until a few months ago.
  10. This one is not on your Hotwire hotel list so maybe I'm the first to report it. Not sure. Either way, it was a great hotel in the perfect location for our needs. We booked it about an hour before checking in. The amenity list seems to be almost exactly the same as the Hyatt Regency that is right down the road. Amenities: Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Rate per night: $88.00 Tax recovery charges & fees: $19.05 Trip total: $107.05 Overnight parking at the Pike parking deck was $7 with the voucher the hotel gives you and Internet is free. Be sure to get that voucher from the hotel or you'll be charged $24 to park overnight. Very happy with our stay! Used the link on this page as always and will receive a $20 rebate from the Entertainment Book coupon.
  11. Tried $43 for a 3* and tried $45 for a 2.5*. If that didn't work I was just going to get the 3* that Hotwire was offering for $52. This isn't exactly my first choice of hotel but it's okay though, we'll only be there for about ten hours. Total is $61.03 with tax.
  12. First bid of $58 accepted. Was kind of hoping for the Hyatt (closer to the event we are attending), but the Hilton will do just fine, especially at that price. Total price w/ taxes and fees is $74.15.Used the PRICELINE link on this forum as always.
  13. Actually, looking at the map again, Hotel Maya may be out of that area. I think it almost has to be the Queen Mary then.
  14. I am trying to ID this hotel too. Date 2/10 - 2/11. Price $61. Amenities: Boutique Hotel, Oceanfront Property, Restaurant(s) I also thought it could be the Queen Mary but do you think that could be called Boutique? What about the Hotel Maya? I'm thinking that is a strong possibility too.
  15. Booked this room at the last minute. Were originally planning only 1 night (tomorrow) but decided to go a night early. Thought we'd still get the Solamar like we booked for the 29th, but got the Indigo instead. Worked out really well! They upgraded us to a corner parlor suite with an insane view of Petco Park (we were thee for the Braves vs Padres games). Even better, someone gave us free tix at the stadium. Heard later that the team was giving out extra friends and family seats, nice. Amenities Fitness Center Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower 95 percent recommended Here is the view from our room: http://i5.no_screenshots_please.com/albums/y196/makeyermark/Petco-1.jpg
  16. Thank you. It is the Solamar, which is perfect because we are attending a game nearby at Petco Park. Used the HOTWIRE link through this site as always and my $15 off Entertainment Book coupon :) Hotel Rate per night: $110.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $20.38 Subtotal: $130.38 Trip total: $130.38
  17. Looking at 8/29 for one night, 2 people, San Diego Gaslamp Quarter South. Hotwire shows a 4 star for $110 with the following amenities. I'm thinking it's the Solamar. Does that sound correct or is it possibly something else? 4-star Hotel in Gaslamp Quarter South - Convention Center This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower 95% of Hotwire reviews recommend 400+ total reviews
  18. Bid $28/nt plus I had $20 bonus cash (from Entertainment Book) for a total bid of $34.67/nt. First bid of $30.67/nt was rejected. Also, originally tried for 5 nights and was rejected up to $44. Priceline offered to let me extend this booking for the two extra nights but ended up wanting $110/nt, which we rejected. We'll likely spend those last two nights with family. Used the PRICELINE link on this forum as always. Thanks Better Bidding!! :)
  19. Hi Admin, just an fyi that I did use the HOTWIRE link on the board. Also, looking today a new 2.5* property is showing for $99 with six amenities instead of the one I booked last night. I think one may be new to Hotwire. Possibly the HI Express, Hampton Inn or Best Western.
  20. Just booked this hotel for two nights. No amenities listed. Total price for both nights with all taxes/fees was $109.73. Not bad. I'm also using a Hotwire $20 rebate coupon on this one. Something I found curious was that the price on my desktop computer kept coming up at $47/nt but it was $46/nt on my laptop.
  21. Started bidding at $55 and worked my way up to $75 over several bids. That's as high as I was going to go, given that Hotwire appeared to have the same hotel for $85. Won the Sheraton, as I pretty much expected. Rates on their web site start at $159/nt for those dates. It should work nicely for two nights pre-cruise. Used the Better Bidding PRICELINE links as always. Thanks Better Bidding!
  22. Based on other winning bids, I started with $41. They offered me a rebid at $56. Declined that, added Anaheim Hills rebid zone and won at $42. Was sort of hoping for the Doubletree, since it's closer to Angel's Stadium, but figured the Crowne was a good possibility. I'm sure it will be fine, especially at this price! Used the BB PRICELINE link as always. Thanks Better Bidding :)
