  2. Looking at this further. That 3.5* in Central Harrisburg isn't the Sheraton, I don't think. I plugged it in again and got 3.0 on TA, but TA has 3.5 for the Sheraton. Does that definitely eliminate the Sheraton? Any other ideas then? That Hilton charges $10/night parking and the La Quinta Inn is barely a discount off posted price.
  3. Excellent. Thanks! Hopefully will figure this all out soon.

  5. Will do. That Hershey 3* is gone, but the 3* (4.5/5 TA) Harrisburg East - Grantville one is still there for $143/night Free Parking <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Free Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Free Internet <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Pet friendly Pet friendly - terms apply Indoor pool(s) <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. If that one isn't too much further, it might be even better considering the free breakfast.
  6. Yes, I see those extra ones now. Holiday Inn direct price appears to be $419 including tax for a refundable reservation for the same 2 nights, so not that much of a HOTWIRE discount. Will have to think this one over further.
  7. The main one I'm looking at is: Hershey-Palmyra-Hummelstown 3* $164/night (4/5 TA rating) Free Parking, Free Internet, Indoor Pool, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities, Accessible for the blind and Accessible path of travel. I'd love to get a good idea as to what that hotel is, but there are no 3* hotels listed in your lookup table for that zone.

  9. Hi, Looking to stay in Hershey area for 2 nights, arriving 8/24 checking out 8/26. 2 adults and 2 children. I priced through the HOTWIRE link here and see 3 options of interest: Hershey-Palmyra-Hummelstown Area 2.5* $124/night Would be nice if it was the Holiday Inn Express, but doesn't look like free breakfast with the basic room, so I think maybe not. I'm thinking in might be Best Western Harrisburg/Hershey, but isn't that out of the shaded area for this region that's indicated on the hotwire map? Those are the only 2 in your list that match the TA rating. Hershey-Palmyra-Hummelstown Area 3* $163/night No 3* hotels in this area in your hotwire hotel list, so I'm totally stumped. Any ideas at all? Harrisburg East-Grantville Area 3* $148/night No 3* hotels in this area in your hotwire hotel list, so I'm totally stumped. Any ideas at all? This doesn't look like it's going to be an easy one. Might just have to take a leap of faith and hope for the best or just not go the hotwire route at all here. Any help is appreciated.
  10. sorry I havent posted back. We wound up with some family issues and aren't going. Thanks for the advice though!
  11. I'd like to include Newport and Middletown on the initial bidding. It looks like someone got a price in range for the day before me, so maybe I have a chance. Let me know how you suggest I bid.
  12. I'm pretty proficient with Hotwire, but I haven't ever used Priceline since we normally travel as a group of 4, but this trip we are just 2. I'm looking for a 3* or above hotel in Newport, RI for 2 nights, 7/4/13 through 7/6/13. I'd like to keep it to $150/night + tax (with that budget number including a potential parking fee, so closer to a $135 bid max if I'm going to have to pay parking). Looking at the Priceline Maps, the Newport region or Middletown region would be fine. I could probably live with the Kingston region as well. The Holiday Inn there is showing $279/night on holidayinn.com. I'd want to be careful about getting something further than that hotel in South Kingston though and would certainly prefer Newport/Middletown regions at the same price (even if the hotel wasn't quite as nice). Best I can get on hotwire is 3* for $141, but I'm pretty sure that's the Ramada Middletown, which has pretty bad reviews (and a recent warning from a user in this forum). I'd like to do better than that. Please help me come up with a bidding strategy here. Let me know if you need any additional information from me. All help is appreciated and I will be sure to book through the links here.
  13. Just starting to plan now, so we might not be booking immediately. Looking at 4* Chicago (Mag Mile-Streeterville) for 2 adults, 8/30-9/1. Found Hotwire Listing for $89. TA 4 out of 5. 90% hotwire recommended. Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High-speed Internet Seems like the only exact match based on the thread here is the Wyndham Chicago. Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers and Swissotel also look like they have pools and the other amenities match, but have never come up identically, like the Wyndham. Those both have a TA of 4 out of 5 as well. Could it be any others? What are your thoughts? The Wyndham is $144 non-refundable on their website. How's $89 for that area, that time of year? How is that hotel? Are we better waiting a few months or just go for it now if we know we'll be there those dates? Thanks in advance.
  14. 3* Monterey Near Beach, Breakfast, Internet 8/29/10, 1 night, 2 adults, 2 children $122 (dropped from $129). Best Western Victorian Inn as expected. Bid through the HOTWIRE link here. Thanks!
  15. Sorry about that. Searched again through your link and it's still there. Also, is the $109 hotel Casa Munras?
  16. How about this one? 2 adults, 2 children 8/29, 1 night Monterey area hotel $129/night Near Beach, Breakfast, Internet TA 4 out of 5 circles Best Western Victorian Inn?
  17. I think if the desk clerk said the sheets were in the closet (and if they were), that wouldn't have made me happy, but I think it would have satisfied the minimal requirement. Once I had to wait 30 minutes for sheets at midnight, they no longer satisfied the requirement.
  18. Yes, I did request 2 double beds at check-in and was told that was the only room available. The desk clerk said that there was no one there to make the pull out sofa and that he'd send sheets up. I did call hotwire at that point and they called the hotel and the best they could do was agree to refund the stay, but I couldn't stay in the hotel for the night. Obviously, at that hour, that wasn't an option. In the morning, I spoke with the assistant manager, who was wonderful, and she apologized and said there should have been sheets in the room and that it's not their policy to make the pull out sofa bed, but, since we didn't even know to look for sheets in the room (maybe there were there, maybe not, but the desk clerk didn't say a think about that) and that it took a half hour to get us sheets, she'd email hotwire to refund the stay. I've since contacted hotwire to see where my refund is and they said they need 7-10 days to investigate. I presume if hotwire gets a refund, they'll refund me. If the desk clerk had told us there were sheets in the room and that it's not their policy to make the sofa bed, I guess I'd have just been out of luck as it seems as if the hotel can satisfy the requirement of 4 people by using a sofa bed. Still not sure that providing a bed that's not made really does satisfy it. I guess that's just the risk of booking through hotwire sometimes. Oh, also, there was one more issue that the clueless desk cleck caused. He told me that my Visa was declined and then made me pay for the room. I don't even have a Visa. I just wanted to go to bed, so I signed what he printed and figured I'd get it cleared up in the morning. Interestingly, the room rate he charged was like $70, which was much less than the hotwire price. When I spoke to the assistant manager in the morning, she laughed, obviously knew what he did wrong and said she'd refund my card. I guess maybe he was confused with how hotwire shows the booking in their system. But, like I said, the hotel was fine. It was clean, location was safe, rooms were decent, breakfast looked ok (but I did see some rotten apples and my wife did get some sort of stomach issue after eating, which may or may not have been from there). EDIT: I just received the email from Hotwire with the formal credit. But, I still don't see the amount the hotel charged me directly credited yet. Also, when I spoke to hotwire at midnight and received their offer at the time (refund if I leave), they also gave me $25 hotdollars into my account.
  19. Just to follow up....the hotel was fine, clean and decent location. BUT, they did stick me with a Queen bed and pull out sofa. I guess they have the right to do that even though I did confirm the night before it would be 2 Queen beds. Also, we arrived at midnight (with 2 kids) and there were no sheets in the room for the pull out sofa. Took 30 minutes to get me the sheets and the front desk person wasn't too nice about the whole thing. With that kind of wait at that time, I didn't consider that providing me 2 acceptable beds for sleeping. The assistant manager, in the morning, agreed and said she'd refund the reservation. So, hotel-fine, but good chance of getting stuck with the room with a pull out sofa though if you put 3-4 people.
  20. Ok, how about this one? 4* $149, oceanfront, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet, golf, spa, hotwire: 95% recommended, TA: 4.5/5 circles InterContental the Clement? Looks like pretty much of an exact match and is the only match to the hotels in your list. Unfortunately, parking there is $18.
  21. You are right. I must have done 2/0 because they show when I do that. Oh well, I'll keep looking over time.
  22. Looking for a hotel for 1 night in the Monterey/Carmel area on 8/29 for 2 adults, 2 children. There are 2 hotels that come up that I might be interested in and need help identifying. 4* Monterey Area Hotel, $125, Near Beach, Oceanfront, No smoking, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet, 75% hotwire, 4/5 circles tripadvisor 3* Carmel Area Hote, $89, breakfast, swimming, internet, golf nearby, still gathering reviews hotwire, 3/5 circles tripadvisor Thanks!
  23. Ok. Well, I took the plunge for the 2.5*, Hershey Area @ $89. It was the Best Western Hotel & Suites Hershey/Harrisburg. I did not purchase through your link and I do apologize for that. I had a $15 off discount for purchasing through Entertainment. It was too much to pass up. I do hope that I still helped your site some by adding this hotel to your list. Wasn't the exact hotel I was expecting, but it's acceptable. I think the website price was $109.
  24. Right now, I'm most looking at the 2.5 in Hershey Area. If that's the Comfort Suites in Grantville, I'd want that. Just looked again through betterbidding link and did 2+2 for 7/4, Hershey, PA and I definitely see the following: 2.5* Hershey Area - Gathering Reviews - Breakfast, Fitness, Swimming, Restaurant, Laundry, Internet TA Rating is 3.5 circles. Both stars and TA rating are a match to Comfort Suites in Grantville. Days Inn is only 3 circles on TA, so I guess that eliminates that one? Anything else that it could be? The still gathering reviews could mean I could get a surprise here? Can you please look again? It's definitely there now and has been when I've looked. EDIT: Comfort Suites - Grantville website indicates no restaurant. Does that rule that out or does Hotwire put that if there's a restaurant next door or something? They do have breakfast, so there's obviously food there. Hilton Garden Inn, Hummelstown - No laundry amenity listed on their website. Hampton Inn, Grantville - No laundry amenity listed on their website. Holiday Inn Express, Grantville - No free breakfast Hopefully, someone can help me figure this one out soon.
