I should have added that there was a $56 offer for a 4* in this area available on PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals. When this same situation occurred in June, the Name your own price hotel turned out to be the Hilton Post Oak, so I was expecting that one. But I prefer the Marriott because they honor Elite status even on Priceline stays.

This was a strange situation. This afternoon PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals was showing a 4* for $73, with amenities and a customer rating that matched the Crowne Plaza. Through the Name Your Own Price site and using free re-bids, I established that it would likely be going for at least $60. Tonight, I was about to bid $60 to get it, when a new PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal showed up for a 4.5* for only $64, less an extra 10% Express Deals discount. But it showed no amenities or customer rating - which is something I had never seen before. Based on the hotel lists, I was hoping it would be the Marriott, and it was. With my Marriott Elite status, that means I get breakfast thrown in as well. I used the PRICELINE EXPRESS link from this site. Couldn't be happier with the result.

I ended up using a Priceline Express Deal. A 3.5* in Universal City for $119 - it was the Sheraton Universal, which is what I was hoping for and expected. Because Hotwire combines its Universal City and Burbank zones, I couldn't be sure of what hotel it would be. And I tried bidding up to $115 for a 3.5* in this Zone with the opaque Priceline site without success.
