  1. RSS seems to have stopped working... I can't see any feed link anywhere.
  2. Update: When I check out I always ask for a zero balance folio. Printed on the bottom. 'On behalf of Priceline.com, thank you for choosing the London Marriott West India Quay Hotel' Never seen that before.
  3. Bid $90 - rejected. Bid up in $1 increments using free rebid zones to hit at $94. Marriott London West India Quay 5 Star London Docklands London, United Kingdom 44-207-093-1000 Check-In Date: Fri, Oct 22, 2010 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Oct 23, 2010 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$94.00 Subtotal: US$94.00 Taxes & Fees: US$24.60 Total Charges: US$118.60 Note: Due to a considerable sold out situation in London for the week of 18 - 21st, I was forced to change plans. I bid nearly all zones, up to my max. (Well above the average winning level) All rejected. Its half term school holidays and apparently multiple conventions in London. I had to revert to using points to get into a central London property, similar situation in Amsterdam the week after. No downtown rooms at all, due to a huge convention at RAI -so I am stuck out at Schiphol burning points.
  4. When in the UK, I use an 02 modem device with my laptop and buy the 2 pounds per day access. O2 allows you to connect to a multitude of UK providers including BT Openzone. Never pay crazy Hotel Wifi charges. Buy yourself an O2 dongle and plug into your USB port on any laptop. http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/o2mobilebroadband/tab/Pay_and_Go (I bought mine for 10 pounds on sale - they have gone up) Important: Advance purchase the number of days of online time you need while at the O2 store, (You will need a UK based debit/credit card to top up online after the fact) O2 stores abound in central London. Other resources: Pret a Manger and Nero's coffee shops offer free wifi. (Pret has the best quality food of all the fastish outlets) Starbucks also offer free Wifi if you have their gold loyalty card (free) Just has to be registered at the SB's US website.
  5. $84 rejected. Added Wembley and rebid at $89. Rejected and countered at $104. Declined counter. Added City and London Bridge and rebid at $94 - Accepted. 6. That is a great rate - I was there in January for $135 on HOTWIRE. Well done - Enjoy
  7. Well done for hanging in there. I was watching this thread and have seen time and again, persistence rewarded in the end. I have heard good things about the new Tower at GN. Thanks for following up for the benefit of all. Have a great stay....
  8. Always good to get more data points. It appears to be a new PL addition located outside the city center. Please follow up with the dates and bidding history if you can, and thank you for posting.
  9. I was just at Hyatt Waikiki on a low PRICELINE rate. I always call ahead and get my frequent stay loyalty member number added to the res for incidentals. This sometimes triggers an upgrade. In this case, to a high floor w/ocean view.
  10. 11. This is interesting...any thoughts Yellowdog?
  12. First bid. Hate it when that happens. Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort And Spa 2424 Kalakaua Avenue Honolulu, HI 96815 808-923-1234 Check-In: Tuesday, April 20, 2010-03:00 PM Check-Out: Thursday, April 22, 2010-12:00 PM Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $178.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $33.24 (USD) Total Room Cost: $211.24
  13. Seems the Sheraton Waikiki Beach is described as a 4* on HW and a Resort on PL so I am trying to decide which purchase portal to use. The Hotwire amenities seems to fluctuate somewhat depending on dates and occupancy requested. Sometimes, 'Near Beach' sometimes 'Beachfront' Sometimes Childrens activity program, Smoke free, and Resort My dates show the following. Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Sheraton, Marriott or Hyatt ? Thanks
  14. Amenities: Fitness Center - Restaurant - Business Center - HSI Hotwire hot Rate: $84.00 No Of Nights:1 Rooms: 1 Subtotal:$84.00 Taxes and Fees:$19.34 Total: $103.34
  15. Hi StateTrooper. 3 major differences here to determine probability. Casino - Wynn/Yes - Trump/No Kitchenettes - Wynn/No - Trump/Yes Condo - Wynn/No - Trump/Yes I would vote for Trump. If you book, pls confirm the outcome. Cheers.
  16. It conforms to the MGM Signature Tower on Harmon Dr. I stayed there in May. Non smoking which is nice. There is a covered walkway to MGM Grand, then to the Strip, so good location. http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...mp;hl=Signature
  17. That is a very good rate for this property. It's one of the more expensive Airport Sheratons. Why 2 nights?
  18. You have plenty of time. Start with the 'Tips and Tricks for Priceline and Hotwire' forums on the home page. I usually only book first 2 nights then bid on the fly while I'm there. Look at reported PRICELINE winning bids for around your dates to see if those properties are acceptable to you. If there is a property you want to avoid or choose, then HOTWIRE gives you more control, as you can usually work out which property they are offering. Be aware: PL and HW inventory may be different and not be offering the same property at the same time. Also be aware that the NYOP opaque side of PRICELINE may be using different inventory that the regular Purchase side of PL. It's easy to get mixed up. On a tight budget I will usually go PL for Amsterdam or London. It is well documented what Hotels are participating so there are usually no surprises. It can always happen of course, if a property comes back that has not participated for a while (like the Movenpick in AMS, that has recently reappeared for instance) or a new property appears that has not participated before. Usually (but not always) PL will be cheaper than HW, sometimes a lot cheaper. NH Hotels in AMS are the heavy participants right now. Although the Pulitzer, Hilton, Renaissance, Marriott, Intercontinental, Bilderberg Gdn, Sofitel, Radisson, Crowne Plaza and others have all appeared at various times. I have had PL wins at Moevenpick (best) Barbizon Palace (marginal) Krasnapolsky (marginal) I also stay at Pulitzer and Hilton as I participate in those properties loyalty programs. Neither of them are great by the way. I am hoping to land at the Amrath on my next AMS PL venture. I usually only bid at 5* but that is no guarantee of any quality with PL. I have has the worst rooms in the world bidding at 5*. If you get a bad room - complain (nicely) - I usually change rooms at least once. Being a member of their loyalty program, unofficially can sometimes help in getting a better room. Currently, the 4* NH's look to be the best bet at around $70 - $85. Good luck and post back. t
  19. Just to conclude this request. I ended up going direct for this trip as rates are low at this time, and I needed the certainty of room type and bedding choice. I was able to do well by tweaking my dates, moving bookings around and maximizing promotions at the properties. Thanks for help.
  20. The Alamo booking has now gone down by $22.00 But Hotwire has increased (again) by approx $1.00 per day. (I am using codes etc on Alamo. If no codes used then HW would be better)
  21. Update: Hotwire increased rates on July 1st for my dates. I was able to book a cancellable back up for less than HW, direct with Alamo.
  22. Cancellable back up is a good idea. You wouldn't think conference attendees would be renting many cars as they are in Vegas mainly for business. But who knows
  23. I am traveling with my son, so I want to make sure of a suite sized view room with our bedding choice. The Palazzo is not showing on HW for 7/31 x 4 nights. Right now the only HW 5* center strip seems to be the Wynn or Venetian. By the time you pay for the upgrade to suite and view, it looks to be about the same to going direct to the property. Dealing direct with the property is much easier if there is a problem. Having to go thru HW to get anything changed is certainly harder. I booked the first 3 nights with Planet Hollywood (his choice) because they guaranteed me an upgraded large view room due to status. So I am looking for the other 4 nights. The Palazzo is favorite as its less noisy, huge standard rooms, and allows the use of all Venetian facilities as well.
