  4. Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is booked solid for the Chicago Comic Con. Went looking for something in "Chicago Loop - Millennium Park" or "Downtown - River Walk" zones and ended up with this. I believe this is in the "Downtown - River Walk" zone, but you guys have the zones listed differently on here. Very happy with the price.
  5. Another success. $111.40 after fees. Could've gotten on Hotwire for $120.65. Booking direct was $150+.
  6. I just moved to the area (South Loop) and this is a perfect place to put visiting relatives. :) We can park their car under the L at the Cermak Green Line stop using an app for $6 a day (vs $36 at Hyatt). We will be driving them around anyway. I agree with other comments you've made on here -- this is not an ideal place for seeing the city on your own.
  7. $359.82 with taxes and fees. They want $625.01 for the cheapest room on Hyatt's website and it looks like this same place is offered on Hotwire for $396.36. I was hoping for the $60 deal that somebody got on 7/30, but this isn't bad. This is an easy property to get since it's currently the only 4* in the zone.
  8. Started at $40, and used all 6 rebid zones. Looks like the same hotel might be going for $61 on Hotwire.
  9. Was getting shut out on Priceline going up to $54 for 3* near the airport, and up to $61 for 3* downtown, so went with this one instead. Pretty happy with the result as some friends of mine paid $58 for the same hotel and same dates earlier this month. I don't think they use this board. 10. After trying and failing to get a room from 4/2-4/6 in this area, going all the way up to $90/nt, I ended up booking a Hotwire room for $81/nt at the Crowne Plaza for 4/2-4/5. Then I came back to bid on PRICELINE for 4/5-4/6. Cheapest room in this star class on HOTWIRE was $82, so I tried $60, and got it on my first bid. I'm Marriott Platinum, so I had checked the hotel's web rate and knew it was $119. I'll certainly take the discount - excited to get a Marriott!
  11. Tried PRICELINE all the way up to $90/nt, but it wasn't cooperating for 4/2-4/6...then I thought to check HOTWIRE...lo and behold, a very attractive rate for this property. Will first try Priceline for 4/5-4/6, but may end up taking what looks to be the Hyatt Regency for $82 for that night. Amenities: (same as have already been reported I believe) Airport Shuttle Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  12. I'm in awe of Priceline right now...I know it doesn't always work this well, but I'm feeling pretty great about this deal. Had been considering flying from Phoenix to Cincinnati, and nonstop round-trip tickets were around $290. But by the time I was ready to pull the trigger on the flight, the cheapest tickets were $623, with long connections. The nonstop tickets had jumped to $798. So I tried Priceline airfare for the first time. Not too hopeful, I put in a starting bid of $225 (ends up being $252 with fees), and won the nonstop tickets on the first try. I had a feeling these airlines bump the prices of tickets dramatically the week before flights just because they can, but I didn't think it would be this easy to skirt the price hikes and get a reasonably priced ticket this late. This is only a modest 14% discount over the previous price of the airfare, but it's a 68% discount over the current price of these specific nonstop tickets (which I really did want badly), and a 59% discount from the cheapest available tickets of any kind for these dates. The only thing that bothers me is that I probably could have bid even lower, but I guess I shouldn't complain when I just saved several hundred dollars...
  13. I thought that Priceline allowed bids up to midnight the day of booking, but apparently the deadline's 11 PM. So I got shutout of the great Priceline Wyndham deal. Might have been out of luck anyway since Hotels.com says there are only 5 rooms left. That left me going to Hotwire. Hoping to get the Wyndham, I saw a three-star with Restaurant, Fitness, Business, and an option to choose beds (costs extra) for $51 and paid for the room. Much to my dismay, it was not the Wyndham, but the Four Points. I doubt it will be a lower quality experience - it's just that this is 3-4 more miles from the interstate than the Wyndham, so it's a bit inconvenient. And I know that the Wyndham is great, but I've never stayed at this Four Points. Oh well, live and learn. Do the Hotwire listings often leave off amenities in an attempt to disguise the property?
  14. Seems like this is almost automatic. Great value...comparable to places that cost $100+.
  15. Just wanted to add that I concur with this review...this place is an absolute steal at this price. My parents will be passing through and I'm going to try and get it for them.
  16. I need to be downtown on these dates for the Ohio Bar Exam, and after reading reviews I was really hoping for the Residence Inn or Doubletree - but the price here is right. I'll also probably get some use out of the shuttle, although some reviews say it's unreliable. Free internet is a big plus, and the $10/night parking is actually about right for downtown. Hopefully everything works out - it's a great deal - this place is going for $94 on the HI website and I think it's going for $62 on Hotwire. I started bidding at $45, got an offer for an immediate rebid to $60. Added one rebid zone, increased to $46, and won. I love this site - saves me so much time by helping me figure out exactly where to start my bidding!
  17. Stayed in this zone before and got a Doubletree for $31, but this time had to settle for a Crowne Plaza at a higher price. Trip Advisor says the rooms are outdated...oh well. Started my bidding at $30, increasing a dollar at a time.
  18. Was actually indifferent between staying at Downtown or Midtown, but we are big fans of the Doubletree brand, so when I saw that it was a possibility, I started at $32 and worked my way up in $1 increments. There were four re-bid zones at 3* (including the resort-only area), so I was able to get up to my winning bid of $42 in one sitting.
  19. Started around $35 and went up $1 at a time. Planning on spending some time downtown, but this hotel is only 5 miles from downtown and I'll have a car, so saving a little money was worth it.
  20. Started at $37 and increased $1 at a time. Usually am leery of staying downtown because of parking costs, but wanted to be near the arch and figured this hotel was a likely possibility. Also read about the cheaper parking option nearby that should allow me to skip the $25 valet.
  21. I just remembered that I booked this room for my brother back at the end of May. Sorry it's so late getting onto the board, but better late than never, I suppose.
  22. Oops; good point. Still would love to hear anything you've got regarding time travel though.
  23. So, I decided that I wasn't thrilled about the idea of $89 for Whitehall. I went back to Priceline. Previously, I had been searching for hotels in the NMA/Millenium areas at 3.5* and above with no results even when I raised my bid to $95. I decided to lower the star rating to 3* and start at $70 in the NMA zone. I won immediately. It put me in the Ambassador East - not bad, and it's far less than I might have paid, but I've also seen it go for a lot less on here. I wonder how much less I could have paid. Ambassador is the last thing I expected to receive, too - after running my bidding up to $95 on 3.5*, I got it at $70 in 3*, even though it is shown as 3.5* on the Priceline hotel list. Indeed - Priceline currently rates it at 3*. It will do - I just hope my room doesn't have bedbugs and the A/C works (two complaints I've seen on tripadvisor).
