  1. I have used priceline but not in last year or so. I have never used hotwire. I just got these options for Friday and Saturday , Jan 10-11. Any idea of what hotels these are? I will use the link. 2. My son lives in River City condo in Chicago and they have had no power since Sat AM due to the complex basement flooding from river overflow. The utilities will not be back on for a couple weeks. We have used all our points from hotels for rooms for points plus cash and now I need to find someplace for him to stay. His insurance won't cover since it is due to flooding and the complex has flood insurance but it won't cover anything for any of the residents so he has to cover all his own expenses. I need to get the best price possible so will use priceline. Is it best to bid for one day at a time or several days to get best price possible? Thanks for your assistance
  3. I have used PRICELINE twice, both for Chicago area and both times got Hotel Felix which was fine. I have usually done it a couple weeks before going but something has come up a couple months out and wondered if you are better to wait to bid till closer . When I check others wins it appears they are done more for the 2-3 weeks out. Is it better to wait?? Also, I did check wins and someone won Hotel Allerton on the same dates for $54 per night which is a great price (similar to my Hotel Felix wins) but hotel Allerton is not something I would enjoy getting . The rooms are super small. The rooms are small at Hotel Felix but I still prefer that to Allertown. If you bid higher do you get the lower hotel say Allerton just at a higher rate or would they give you some other hotel that will take that amount as the lowest? Any recommendations or comments? Any way to try to avoid getting allertown which is in the area I want? annecb
  4. Just got Hotel Felix first time for two nights in January 29 and 30 for $55 per night. $25 additional taxes and fees for a total of $135. Since we just stayed in December and found the hotel pleasing I did not hesitate to bid again. . I only wonder if I should have started lower!!
  5. We stayed at Hotel Felix, Chicago river north and north Michigan Ave. The hotel had small rooms but they had been recently redone. The room was very clean. The bathroom was a nice size for an older hotel. The location was great for what we wanted. Parking was $42 per day extra (normal for Chicago downtown). We did not try the restaurant . We stayed December 24 and I got the room for a bid of $59 which is a great price for the location. I just bid two nights in January and got hotel Felix again, not disappointed. It is rated four star and I would say it is not as nice as other four stars in Chicago in the same area , only because of the size of the rooms. Employees were friendly and helpful.
  6. Yesterday I bid $50 rejected and then I added Lincoln park area and bid $55-nothing. Today I bid $55 added Lincoln park and bid $59. Got this hotel. It supposedly has a four star rating but I have been reading on trip advisor and elsewhere that the rooms are super small --not what you would expect in a four star. I used Price line a number of years ago but often have kids so we have to confirm two beds but this time there are only two of us so thought I would give Price line a chance again as I was pleased last time. From people in Chicago I am hearing this is not 4 star quality hotel. Anyone stay there recently???? Other sites have reviews even on their upscaled rooms that indicate they are very small and not what you would expect.
