  1. Thanks. You can probably close this thread now as I'm going to go a more traditional booking route due to some travel changes.
  2. Thanks! I'm wondering whether this a good rate for that time of year, or if I should play the Priceline game to potentially get a 4* for an even lower price. Can you generally get lower prices on Priceline than on Hotwire?
  3. Hi all. I'm travelling to Boston from 3/1 to 3/4 inclusive, and came across a 4* on Hotwire in the Boston Common - Theatre District area for $110/night witht eh following amenities: smoke free, fitness, pool, restaurant, hi speed internet, business centre. After cross referencing this with the list on BB, it looks like it might be the Hyatt Financial, and wanted to confirm tthat this was the case. Thanks in advance!
  4. I've decided to stick with my original booking at the Dupont. Thanks again for all the assistance!
  5. Great, thanks. I like the possibility of the Dupont or the Palomar, but not so much the Westin, mostly because of the reviews i see on tripadvisor.
  6. Whoops, sorry. I am looking for 1/13-1/16 inclusive. Thanks!
  7. Hi everyone, I've come across a 4* hotel in the DuPont circle area for the weekend of 1/13 for $94 with the following amenities: smoke free, restaurant, business centre, high speed internet and fitness. It is also recommended in 95% of Hotwire customer reviews. I cross referenced the amenities with the list here on BB and came up with about 3 hits, but wanted to see if I could narrow it down further. I do have another hotel booked for this weekend that I can cancel, but this rate is about $25/night cheaper and I'm curious. Thanks in advance for any help! Also, I did use the HOTWIRE link on this site to search :)
  8. Hey everyone. Managed to get the Club Quarters for $87/night. It's a 3.5* that seems to have gotten pretty decent reviews, free internet and a very good location, so I am looking forward to try it out. Thanks !
  9. I did check through a few direct hotel websites, but they were the 4* hotels, so i wasnt sure if those were their regular rates or not. Considering that my $85 bid wasn't accepted, I might be willing to start looking at some of the 3.5* hotels at this point.
  10. Whoops, thought i mentioned that. I was using 4* rating for all my bids above.
  11. Hey everyone, looking to stay in downtown philly for a weekend trip for the 2 nights of April 15th and 16th. Started off by using the PRICELINE link on this site, and had the following unsuccessful history: Downtown Philadelphia, Trevose - Bensalem, Gloucester - Runnemede - Deptford, NJ, University Area, Cherry Hill, NJ - $85 Downtown Philadelphia, Cherry Hill, NJ, University Area, Trevose - Bensalem - $83 Downtown Philadelphia, University Area, Cherry Hill, NJ - $80 So used up all the rebid zones and went up to a max of $85 with no luck. Saw that someone else on the board had got the Sofitel for $80 on the Thursday night, so was hoping that I would get lucky as well. Then again, that bid was successful on March 1st, so Im definitely behind the 8-ball. Not sure if there is an even going on in Philly then, but I'll keep trying and would love to hear some tips. Thanks !
  12. Thanks, mlaurence. Given the above, I'd like to try initially with the zones that I had originally listed to see if any of those work out.
  13. mlaurence, Thank you so much for the local advice. It definitely looks like the hotels in Cambridge are cheaper than those in Boston proper (i.e. the other zones that i had mentioned), and so I'm definitely willing to take a chance in that zone. However, I looked up the hotels in the Cambridge zone, and it looks like there is more than one that isnt near a T stop. For example, the Hyatt Regency Cambridge
  14. My immediate goal is to get the cheapest hotel possible :)
  15. Hi there, I am willing to consider the following zones: 1. harbour front 2. quincy market 3. copley square My maximum bid amount would be around $80, and my check out date will be March 6th.
  16. Hi everyone, hope you're all having a great holiday season so far. I need to be in Boston from March 3-6 inclusive for a convention at the Boston Convention Centre. I don't really need the hotel to be in this area, but I would like the hotel to be close to a T-station so that I can jump on when needed (even a little walk is). While I know that isnt necessarily something you can guarantee via Priceline, I'd look for hotels in areas of the city with a large concentration of stops. Having said that, I would like to spend around $80/night, all in. I know that chances of landing a 4* will be next to impossible, but I've had lots of successes and great stays at places like Radissons and Holiday Inns. Thats about it. Looking forward to getting suggestions on how to go about bidding. Cheers !
  17. Decided to head over to Providence, RI instead of Philly, and shared my result in the Priceline-Rhode Island section. Thanks for the advice on Philly; its bound to come in useful when I make that inevitable trip to the City of Brotherly Love!
  18. Hey everyone. PRICELINE accepted my first bid of $65 for a 4* in the Downtown Providence zone, and I ended up with the Hotel Providence. Looking forward to trying out this property; TripAdvisor reviews seem pretty good !
  19. I think given the poster's comments above, I would like to get a 3.5* for $60, in the Downtown zone.
  20. Hi Bob. Thanks for the input ! I honestly think a 3.5* will be fine for my needs, and its great to hear that youve been able to get properties for that price. Compared to what i am used to paying, that is absolutely amazing !!
  21. Yep, I would be willing to pay a little more for a 4* vs 3.5*. I think my max bid would be around $120/night, all in. Of course, this being Philly, I am not too familiar with how hotel rates would compare to, say , NYC., where I've gone a bunch of times.
  22. Hi everyone ! Am planning to be in Philly and would like a hotel in Downtown or University Area zones. Looking for a 3.5* or higher. Have never been to Philly before, but would like hotel to be close to public transit for easy access, if possible. Have spotted a few good nightly rates on Orbitz, but think I can do better on PRICELINE. It appears as though I can get some pretty decent hotels (Palomar, Sofitel) for around $160-170 a night.
  23. Just wanted to come back and provide an update that I decided to book a private apartment through another service. Found that Im going to be quite busy over the next few weeks, and wanted to get my bookings out of the way. Thanks for all the assistance ! :)
  24. Yes, sorry, you're right. I would be willing to consider the MTW zone, but not the CPS zone.
  25. Thanks. I did read about the Millenium, and the fact that its not close to a subway stop kills it for me :) . As far as zones go, I would like to be in the Chelsea/MSG/ESB/MTE/Times Square areas ... less prefer the UWS, UES, Central Park areas, etc. And yes, I would want a 3* rating minimum :)
