  1. hi - just booked the 3* radisson northeast in trevose thru hotwire - $64 - amenities listed as follows: fitness ctr pool restaurant business hi-speed internet was hoping for the four points sheraton northeast - knew it was a gamble as the 2 seem to list the same amenities - but from the reviews it looks like the radisson is an ok place as well. used the better bidding HOTWIRE link to start my search/purchase. thanks as always for your super-helpful site.
  2. confirming $53 for 7/10-7/11/10 at Hilton Garden Inn Fairfax, with 8 amenities as listed above. Thanks so much for the help - used BB HOTWIRE link to book 3 single rooms this morning!
  3. forgot to say my dates of travel - 7/9 - 7/11/10 - and for a single room. thanks!
  4. Looks like this matches the Hilton Garden Inn - what do you think? thanks... will book through BB HOTWIRE links! fairfax VA 3* $53, no smoking, fit, pool, rest, bus ctr, laundry, int'net, golf nearby
  5. Thanks for reminding me that I never closed this post! I ended up booking the Hotel Sierra thru Orbitz, with a 10% discount, because we needed to be close to a venue in Parsippany. I appreciate everyone's help - and thanks for ID'ing the property, Liverace!
  6. yes - it's the full list! it also says recommended in 95% of customer reviews. no trip advisor rating. thanks for any help u can give!
  7. 3* morristown-parsippany $53 2 ppl 4/17-4/18 fitness, business ctr, kitchenette any ideas? I'm trying to stay in Parsippany, not Morristown, if I can manage... can't figure this out from the list or prev posts. thanks so much!
  8. forgot to mention it says "recommended in 90% of customer reviews" - and has a 4 trip advisor rating. thanks...
  9. amenities: breakfast, fitness, pool, restaurant, hi-speed internet. sounds like a good deal - can't find a match in your list - any ideas? thanks for the help!
  10. yes, you are right. you had seen the holiday inn harmon meadow and the crowne plaza secaucus at the time you looked at Hotwire's options. When I asked for a secaucus area the last couple of days, the 3.5* sheraton was easily identifiable from your hotwire hotel list so I went for it. Got a little confused there - whoops. anyway - details on the hotel as follows: sheraton-meadowlands hotel 3.5* amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby thanks again for the excellent site! it's been invaluable. oh - i did use the HOTWIRE link above to begin my purchase.
  11. just booked the 3.5* sheraton meadowlands at your suggestion - $72 - total $88/85 (thought it was worth the extra few $ for the pool, in case our kids get a chance to use it). thank you so very much for your help!
  12. yes, I think this area could work just as well. We are planning on stopping at the hotel between Greenwich, CT and the UWS - just want to make sure this isn't much more out of our way than staying in the fort lee area, and that it won't make the commute in and out of NYC by car any more time-consuming. As you say, though, if we can't confidently ID the hotel in the fort lee area, we may end up with one further north or west - and that wouldn't be good. we are going into the city for a party, so dinner in NJ is not an option this time! :) will let you know how I fare... thanks again for such a helpful site!
  13. Yes - we are driving. we thought it would be (relatively) easy to shoot across the GWB and down the Henry Hudson that evening, then drive back up and over the bridge that night to be at least partway to South orange for the next morning. we could stay on the UWS, but that would involve more $ for overnight parking and a longer commute to South Orange, NJ in the AM. I was hoping we'd find a Fort Lee area hotel with free parking for the night. thanks -
  14. thanks for the background on how hotwire displays options - this will come in handy for future searches too! :) I'm thinking the fort lee area will be best for us because we will be traveling from Greenwich, CT on 1/30 afternoon into NYC's upper west side for the evening of 1/30, then heading to South Orange, NJ the next AM. We'd like to stop and rest at the hotel between Greenwich and the Upper West Side without too much of a detour - and we also don't want to be more than a half hour from South Orange the next morning, because we have an early appointment there. Is there a better area, do you think? thanks again -
  15. this is very interesting. I get the 3* hotel for $59 with restaurant, business center and internet when I search for 2 adults, 2 children. I just put in 4 adults and see the 3* hotel for $67 you mention below. why would they show 2 different hotels based on 4 adults vs. 2 adults, 2 children? any chance you can ID either of these 2 3* hotels in the area? thanks again.
  16. sorry, forgot dates - in sat 1/30- out sun 1/31. thanks for the reminder!
  17. hope you can help id newark (ft lee/hackensack) 3* listed with restaurant, business center and internet -$59. doesn't match any on your list, or in previous posts - any ideas? - oh, for 4 ppl.
  18. just to close this thread, I ended up NOT booking a downtown hotel through hotwire or priceline because I couldn't confidently identify one as being in the correct area - not wall st. but soho. I actually booked a midtown east hotel, the 3* doubletree metropolitan on lexington ave, through easyclicktravel.com - because the rate was amazing! - $82 - $97 including taxes and fees. (got to easyclicktravel - have never booked on there before, but they had by far the lowest rate for this hotel). we have to be on the upper east side saturday night, so we changed our hotel strategy, figuring it was easy enough to stay up there, then drive downtown to tribeca sunday morning. thanks again for all the help and sorry I couldn't provide further info on a downtown hotel!
  19. we have to get to hudson/canal with some equipment on sunday AM - so would rather not take subway. I just looked at the priceline hotel lists, and the two 3* options listed are hilton garden inn and the holiday inn downtown (duane st. hotel is listed as well, but priceline now shows that as a 2.5*) - both are easily walkable to hudson/canal. I may go ahead and bid on a soho 3* through priceline at $100; this seems most likely to land me in a good location. and it looks like both those hotels are perfectly fine places to stay one night.. will let you know how I fare... thanks again!
  20. hmmm... well, this is getting tricky, because the wall st. area is included in soho/downtown on hotwire, but it's further from where we're going sunday. gild hall is in wall st, so i don't think i should chance going for the 4*. soho grand would be great, but there's no guarantee there. and the 3.5* club quarters is in wall st. area, too. so... do you have any idea which hotels the 2.5* listing just internet, and the 3* listing restaurant/internet could be?? If I can confidently identify any hotel very close to our sunday hudson/canal destination, I'd go for it. as to parking ... will park, then walk to hotel. no matter which hotel we end up at. those NYC valet situations are horrible! and we use bestparking.com to find the best area rate on parking. your help is really appreciated!
  21. we have something to do in Tribeca sunday morning, so it would be nice to wake up in the area. It would be great to park our car saturday night and be able to walk to hudson st/canal st, rather than drive there. so that's why soho would be ideal. and the $100 range is fine. Happy to pay $113 for the 4*, particularly if there's a good possibility I can ID it beforehand, and it's close to where we're going. hope you can help - thanks. one more thing about the 4* - it says there are more than 500 reviews (80% recommend) - which I guess means on trip advisor - and the only 4* I can find on their site is the millennium hilton - but that's not on the better bidding list. ?? could it be that one?
  22. need help id'ing nyc downtown/soho hotel options as follows, for 1/23-1/24 stay, 2 ppl: 3* $100 restaurant, internet 2.5* $109 internet 4* $113 fitness, restaurant, business, internet (gild hall or soho grand are mentioned in your list... could it be something else too?) 3.5* $114 fitness, laundry, internet (sounds like this is club quarters downtown) we would prefer to stay downtown, but if there are particular great hotels/great bargains elsewhere in manhattan, happy to consider those too. any help is appreciated - thanks! will use HOTWIRE link above to book. thanks!
  23. when considering NYC hotel options this evening, I just noticed a box on the lower left of my hotwire screen saying: "Hotwire Express is a special program for frequent Hotwire users like you to make your travel experience even better. Call us toll free or email us Mention reference #xxxxxxxx " never got a letter from them, though. has anyone made the call? are they helpful before you book (with additional info, "clues" etc)? just wondering... thanks.
  24. your guess was right - the 3.5* central jersey hotel was the crowne plaza monroe/jamesburg. bought the room through the HOTWIRE link above. $67 - total $82 w/fees. thanks again - love your site.
  25. well... the 4* mystery has not been solved, sorry! - i booked the hamilton crowne plaza - 3.5* as listed with fitness, restaurant, business center and internet - for $89. Looks like a great location for us, right by a main metro stop. and love those crowne plaza beds! thanks for the help - i booked using the HOTWIRE link above.
