  1. Got the Crowne Plaza for $45 first bid. Good hotel, especially for the price. I should have gone lower for my first bid. Oh well :)
  2. I actually now can get the Hyatt Jersey City on the Hudson for $150/night on Hotwire. I'm thinking I might go there as I stayed there last time and I love the hotel. Has anyone stayed at both these hotels?
  3. Didnt end up taking this trip. Thanks for your help.
  4. We have my entire family going to NYC from July 1st to July 8th 2007. We currently have 2 rooms for $134/night at the Holiday Inn Express in Chelsea. I was wondering if anyone thought there might be a better deal out there for us. The first 2 nights 7/1 and 2 we already have reward ressies at the ES at Secaucus. The nights we would need are 7/3 to 7/8. I would stay in Manhattan or Jersey City.
  5. I dont know anything about the hotel specially, except I think it is on Harbor east of Disneyland. As for the question about the Hyatt, one reason you may not have gotten it is if there is a convention scheduled there.
  6. Got it at $50 which seemed par to the course. Bid 45, got countered for 58, used re-bid zone and bid $50. Used SB link. EDIT: Trip is from 9/2/06 to 9/4/06, messed up in title.
  7. Had a good stay as usual, but there were a few oddities. First,I was given a room with a king bed (usually even if alone the room was 2 double beds) and the room was dingier than normal. Still normal great service though.
  8. Bid at 55 first as that is the going rate seems to be now. I guess I could have bid a little lower to start out and saved a few bucks. I'm really happy I got this hotel, it is a good value.
  9. I stayed here 4/29 - 30 2006. I checked in late (about 1am) and the checkin was easy and smooth. I got a 2 double bed room in the Seaport Tower. The common areas of the hotel were amazing. The rooms were nice, but a little small compared to the Hyatts in Anaheim and Jersey City. I was also woken up by a train whistle at night which I definately was not expecting. Overall I was happy with the hotel, but wasnt floored due to the small room and the train whistles at night.
  10. Bid $88 First try... added re-bid zome at $92. I will add a review shortly.
  11. I ended up waiting for a few days to let my new HHonors AMEX Card come in the mail. I am glad I did. Today a bid Loop zone at $60, got a $77 counteroffer, added a rebid zone and got the Swisshotel at $66. I was expecting the Hyatt but am much happier with the Swisshotel. Thank you for the great service provided on this site. You have saved me hundreds of dollars and allowed me to travel extravagently for the past few years.
  12. Tried up to 73 and no dice so far. I also bid 3* up to 60 and no dice either. I'll try bidding higher tommorow.
  13. 1. I am flying into Midway late on WN so I decided to stay near Miday and get some sleep instead of going to Downtown. This is because my flight is going to be arriving on Midnight. 2. After the first night I will be staying in the loop area. I'm looking for a hotel around the Chicago Loop (easy CTA access) checking in 5/14 and checking out on 5/16. I pulled up Chicago on Hotwire and found a 4* for $82 in the Magnificent Mile which I think would be the Hyatt Chicago. Is this the best deal you think I am going to get or can I do better on Priceline? I am willing to spend up to 100 max a night, but would like to get the room as cheap as possible. The $82 would be fine with me but if I could shave an extra 20 to 30 a night off of that I would be even happier. I mainly am flying in to see the Pads game at Wrigley on Sunday.
  14. I wanted to take a quick trip to DL for the weekend. Bid $38 and was rejected. I added Anaheim Hills free rebid zone and got accepted at $41.
  15. My mom wanted a hotel by the airport so I bid 2.5* in South Natomas....No takers. I then bid $55 3 Star Sacramento Downtown and got this hotel. I like the location for them as it is right off the 5. I tried bidding $50 for Sacto downtown and got rejected. Added South Natomas free rebid and got it at $55. Reg rates were 119/night.
  16. I was looking for more generalized suggestions on what area to stay in. Im not going to book my room until jan or feb.
  17. I am thinking of going to Boston this June after my school gets out. I am looking for a good part of Boston to stay in for a college student like myself and a hotel that is close to the "T". Any suggestions?
  18. actually I wont be able to go to Washington now that I got into E3 Expo. Thanks for all your help though and sorry to put you through all that work.
  19. The Smithsonian is actually near the Cap Hill Zone...so I will start my bidding there. I will also go for 2 nights..Fly in the 17th - check out the 19th.
  20. I think the Simithsonian is in the capital hill zone right? If true I would want my bidding strategy to start from there. Thanks for your help TravelGuy and thereuare.
  21. I am thinking about taking Greyhound to Washington DC for 1 or 2 days either before ,during or after my New York trip that is set from 5/19-5/28. I am looking for a hotel with at least 2 stars (3* preferred) and would like to spend less than $80 but can go to $100 a night if absolutely neccessary. I would want a hotel accessible to the Metro as I wont have a car and I read that Downtown/White House ,Convention Center/Capital Hill, and Dupont/Woodley Park are convient for Metro access. Will all hotels in these zones be convient for Metro access? I think i would fly to Washington on the 16th or 17th and chack out and head to NYC on the 19th. I also could stay from the 28th on or even leave my hotel in NY for one night during my vacation. Coming early is my preferred option though.
