  1. I began with a first bid of $78 and result was an offer of "if you raise your offer to $127, you can try the same bid again right now." Instead, I submitted a subsequent bids by adding re-bid zones without 4* properties. The amounts were: $88, then $102, and finally $112 which was accepted. Not sure if I somewhere between 102 and 112 would have also been successful but I'm happy with the price. The listed rates for 4* hotels in the area seem quite high for these dates. I might mention the current Better Bidding hotel list shows this Hilton Anaheim property as a 3.5* however, I only bid 4* via Priceline... so Priceline has it in the 4* level currently.
  2. I've followed up with a reply to the previous Durango thread as requested with the info that we ended up booking direct instead. Using the Easy View Tab, here are the complete amenities listed for the properties wishing to ID: 3.5* New Hotwire Hotel Orange County - Disney - Convention Center - Anaheim Area FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Internet access, Spa services, Children's activities 3* New Hotwire Hotel Orange County - Disney - Anaheim area FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free Internet, Resort, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower Thanks again.
  3. Following up, we did not bid/book via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE but instead directly with the hotel... Doubletree Durango.
  4. Hello, looking to ID a hotel(s) for family Disneyland trip. Would like to stay under $110/night. Dates 10/4-10/6 3.5* "New to Hotwire Hotel" Orange County - Disneyland South - Convention Center - Anaheim Area Complimentary: Free Internet Amenities: Children's activities, Fitness center, Indoor pool(s), Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Smoke-free rooms, Spa services Price fluctuates from regularly $175 or 195/night and hotwire price is currently $88/89. Has a "Love It" icon with 95% recommended (out of only 5 reviews, hence new to Hotwire) Bottom of the page says this property charges a $25 daily resort fee collected at the hotel - this may or may not help with IDing. Second property: 3* New To Hotwire Hotel in Disney - Convention Center - Anaheim area Complimentary: Free Internet, Free parking Amenities: Business center, Fitness center, Pool(s), Resort Restaurant(s), Smoke-free rooms Hotwire price is $101 ($137 regular) Has the "Love It" icon and an impressive 95% recommended rating from 599 reviews. Thank you!
  5. I wanted to update that I submitted a bid for $105 for a 3* and it was rejected. No counter offer was given by Priceline so not sure if I'm close to the accepted rate or not. Priceline indicates the median retail price for 3* in Durango is $189. I bid through the PRICELINE link.
  6. Ok, I have clicked on the Priceline and HOTWIRE links as requested. I use the PRICELINE link to search and of course when bidding. :) I notice on Name Your Own Price "minimum guranteed amentities" shown for each star level option, an amenity I don't recall before is a minimum guest review score. The 3* level indicates a minimum guest review score of 8.0 and this is interesting because when referencing the hotels shown for regular purchase on Priceline, there are only two 3* hotels rated 8.0 or above...the Doubletree and Residence Inn. Since Durango only has a handful of 3* properties I would think this narrows it down significantly to these properties resulting as potential wins. (The Residence Inn is currently undergoing renovations to the lobby and breakfast area and website indicates noise is to be expected!) Now, it occurred to me that the guest review score could be based on just one individual 8.0+ score and not the overall score! Anyhow, I appreciate advice asap for placing bid. If nothing results, I have a backup plan of staying at Doubletree for $150/night.
  7. Hi, I'm in search of info on any Durango, CO Priceline properties. Our trip will be for 2 nights Fri & Sat Oct 12 and 13th. The Priceline hotel list shows only 1 Durango property- 3* Holiday Inn however, I called Holiday Inn 1800 number to obtain rate and was told there is no longer a Holiday Inn in Durango. It appears this property is now the Durango Downtown Inn. I'm curious if there is any info on current hotel(s) available to win via Priceline bidding. I note on the name your own price section there are 3*, 2.5*, and 2* levels available for bidding. We're traveling to the downtown shopping district/nearby Durango Railroad train area. Would like to stay at a 2.5* or 3* property. Thanks in advance for any info and bidding advice!
  8. I see, thank you for replying with this info. And I submitted a followed up on the old thread as you requested. Amy
  9. Follow up to this thread: we did not end up bidding for this trip but rather booked a room with Mandalay Bay directly- for their pools/beach atomosphere. :)
  10. Hi, I'm consulting the Priceline Hotel List for CA- Orange County posted on this site and I'm finding discrepancies between the hotel zones/corresponding star levels currently given on Priceline.com and this hotel list. I'm very much aware there are changes in hotels, zones, star levels always ongoing with Priceline properties (bidders may certainly win a hotel not on the list- new hotels are added and removed at any time, etc.) however I thought I'd inquire too see if an updated/more current hotel list is available for this area... Specifically, the hotel list shows Disneyland-Anaheim zone includes two 4* properties: Hilton Anaheim "previously 3.5*" and Marriott Anaheim (700 W Convention Way)"previously 3.5* however currently on priceline.com this "Disneyland- Anaheim North" zone (zone 5) does not have the "4 star deluxe" star level available for selection. Possibly these 2 hotels are once again categorized as 3.5* level as the hotel lists indicates they previously were. ?? Anyhow an updated list would be most helpful, thanks for any info/insight. Amy
  11. Hi, I've used this site as well as Priceline before with much success! Wondering what to bid for our travel dates... My spouse and I are going to LV for the Mountain West Basketball Championship Finals. Arriving Fri MAR 12, checking out Sun MAR 14. Upon reviewing the reported hotel list for Priceline, I'd like to bid on 4* North Strip (Treasure Island & Mirage reported) or 5* South Strip (THEHotel reported.) Only reason not bidding 4* South or 5* North is they each include 1 hotel respectively, The Westin (poor reviews/not LV atmosphere we're desiring) and Trump (off strip location/no casino) that we'd rather not stay at. I checked the calendar of wins for our dates but nothing has been reported yet. I see several recent and quite impressive wins for 4* North, Treasure Island at $45 to $65. The wins and tips on the board indicate to bid low. I'm wondering if March dates/basketball championship will impact hotel rates and thus, my bid. Max bid for 4* is $60 (current TI website rate is $69.) And Max for 5* isn't much more, as we're not hung up on staying at a 5* this trip, it's just another bidding option really. Airfare is high so certainly trying to get a really good deal here. Thanks in advance. :)
  12. Oh wow that does sound like a match for Gainey Ranch and I think we would have gone for it but before I read your post I had already bid $46 for Resort Star Level on PRICELINE (I used this site's link) and like I anticipated, I received Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center. It's decent looking and I'm pleased with the price. Just hope they oblige my request for a non smoking, non 1st floor room! And I did get the Priceline travel insurance...maybe I can cancel eh? ;o) Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
  13. Thank you for the info. I was thinking that was the case and I definitely won't submit a high bid to start. I'm just waiting for a response on a suggested starting bid for: Resort Scottsdale Dec 12-14 and then I will be ready to go. :)
  14. Hi again, I've decided to bid on a Scottsdale RESORT versus a 4* as all of the 3 reported Resort properties look fantastic...especially Hyatt at Gainey Ranch! I know of the possibility of getting an unreported hotel but I'm willing to take my chances. I find it interesting how two people bid the same area: Scottsdale and Star Level: Resort and the one who bid $45 received Scottsdale Resort & Conference Center (with respect, i'd say it's the less preferred property) and the other who bid quite a bit higher at $70 received Hyatt at Gainey Ranch. Is there any method here...?...high bid may win "better" property and/or low bid is likely to win less preferred property? Maybe a higher bid of say $70 could win ANY property but a very low bid say $45 would not get Hyatt for example? Just wondering if there are any such patterns noted. If you will please advise. Thanks again!
  15. Thanks. That is correct, 2 night stay 12-14 Dec. Goal is the least expensive 4* or better however, paying more for a Resort isn't out of the question...how much more could I expect to bid for a Resort? After reviewing the Scottsdale 4* and Resort properties below, I'd be thrilled to get a superb price for any of those...Scottsdale Plaza Resort and Scottsdale Resort/Conference Center are the least preferred though. (I certainly realize those are a possibility and I have to be willing to stay there!) Phoenix (Scottsdale) Resort Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort Resort Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center 4* Doubletree Paradise Valley 4* Hilton Scottsdale Resort 4* Mondrian 4* Scottsdale Plaza Resort
  16. Awesome hotel, I'd love to have same outcome with my bid! Can you tell me if you selected the Scottsdale area or North Scottsdale area for this win? And star level you chose? Thanks!!
  17. Hi, I'm a newbie and have read several related posts here including the PRICELINE rebidding strategies (fantastic info.) Before I place my PRICELINE bid, I'd like to get some strategy tips and starting bid suggestions for the 4* and resort star levels in Scottsdale. - Our hotel dates are Sat Dec 12 & Sun 13th I've seen wins as low as $41 for 4* Scottsdale properties...our max bid is probably $75 but would love to get something closer to $55! What would be the best strategy as far as bidding 4* and the Resort star levels? The Kierland Hyatt would be awesome as well as Hilton Resort & Villas, Doubletree Paradise Valley, Mondrian. Thanks!
