I am searching through your HOTWIRE link for a NY hotel for one night, March 28. Found one that looks interesting: 3*, Midtown Central, for $102. Only amenity is Internet, and customer reviews don't show up. According to the hotel list I thought it might be the Gem Hotel, but that doesn't match up with the map. Any thoughts? Amenities are showing up as smoke free, fitness, restaurant, internet, business. Dates are 2/17-2/19. Price is $137. I know that this fits many of the options in the White House/Downtown zone, so the main clue I've got is the 100% Hotwire customer recommendation (and 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor). George? Sofitel? Monaco? Something else...? I'd be grateful for any thoughts! Thanks, and as always I will bid using the HOTWIRE link!

One more piece of info: this hotel still isn't open yet, and their website says it won't be until after the 25th! Glad I checked. Hotwire just agreed to give me a refund.

Whoa, a new hotel -- no reviews because it isn't open yet! Booked this for my husband who needs to stay in Chelsea for work those nights. I was hoping for the Indigo (where I've stayed in the past) and was really surprised to get a hotel I'd never even heard of. Not sure when this hotel opens, but I hope he'll like it. Insane rates at this time of year, so this seemed okay. Hotel needed to be close to Chelsea, so I wasn't terribly flexible - had bid only in the Chelsea and MSG zones. Rejected at $265 then bid up $10 and was accepted. Saw something similar on Hotwire for $299. Bid though your PRICELINE link as always!

As it turns out, my husband (on whose behalf I was bidding) mentioned the high prices to the company that will be footing the bill for his travel, and they made alternative hotel reservations -- so I'm afraid I have no final Priceline bid to report. For the past few days I've been bidding and bidding (using all of NYC's rebid zones) for a 4* in ESB, MTE, MTW, Chelsea, Times Sq, to no avail. I have bid up to $295 and still nothing. Does anyone think rates might drop if I just wait? There were 4* rooms on Hotwire a few days ago, but I lost my Internet connection while searching and now they're gone. Any ideas? Unfortunately these dates are not flexible. I'm hoping to stay near Chelsea, but most Manhattan areas would be OK except Financial District. Thanks in advance for help. I ended up changing my dates to 5/20-5/23 (three nights) and bid on a 3* boutique in the Dupont Circle zone for $114. Amenities: boutique, fitness, restaurant, business, Internet. 4.5/5 TripAdvisor rating. I expected it to be either the Rouge or the Helix, and it was the Helix. Wish I could have found something a tad more centrally located, but $114 was FAR lower than anything else I could find on Hotwire, and I had unsuccessfully bid up to $125 on Priceline (White House/Downtown zone).

My dates are flexible, but yes, I would like to take the trip if I can find a good hotel rate. I had booked and planned a trip to DC in December (and I posted here with my results), but I had to cancel it when my flights were cancelled due to bad weather. My local airports were shut down due to weather on several dates in January, which is why I was never able to take of any of the trips I inquired about in the other threads.

I just updated both threads. I'm sorry not to have followed up; I didn't end up booking either trip, so I didn't have much to share with the board.

Amenities are: boutique nonsmoking fitness pool restaurant business internet 95% of TripAdvisor reviewers recommend (out of 500+ reviews), 4.5/5 TripAdvisor. $121 a night. Any thoughts? I was suspecting the Omni Shoreham, but it's not a boutique hotel, right...? Thanks, and of course I will use your HOTWIRE link if I do bid on this hotel.

The Liaison hasn't been a 4.5/5 in the past year at least -- I know this because I have often tried to avoid it. If I decide to bid on this hotel, though, I'll be sure to update this thread to solve the mystery!
