  1. Hello, wonder if Hotwire rates can actually be more expensive than rates from open sources (Expedia, hotel websites, etc.), with taxes and fees added in for all sources. For example, I did a Hotwire search for 12/22-23, 2010 for Newark, NJ. Hotwire reports $139 ($170 with taxes and fees) for a 4-star Hoboken-Jersey City. Expedia reports the Westin as $139 ($158 total) and the Hyatt as $149 ($169 total), both of which are still cheaper than $170.
  2. First time posting here. 10/10/2009 seemed like a busy night, 10/11/2009 seemed better. So that makes it harder bidding for the two nights together. Tried up to $65 for a 3*, all combinations of the three areas, no luck. Went to 2* and $50 for Portland-West, no luck. Tried $50 for a 2* for South Portland-Scarborough and got the Extended Stay America. Total is $116.20 with the $16.20 tax and fees. The hotel website wants $94.99 per night. Could have started lower, wonder if overbid, since $50 is over half of $94.99. Any general guidelines? Many thanks for all your help.
