  1. Thanks for the input, thereuare. I figured this was probably the Omni AE but was hoping for something else. I am very happy with the price though. This is even during a convention. Maybe they will let me spend some of the money I am saving on an upgrade. I have seen mixed reviews of this hotel. Has anyone stayed there recently? P.S. I used a new email address and the coupon code that was previously working does not work anymore.
  2. I stayed here in December of 04 and agree that it is not a four star hotel. But when you pay less than $100 you can not complain that much. The room was stuffy and smelly but the staff did upgrade us to the "club" floor after showing a Hyatt gold passport membership, which at least offered breakfast and internet access. This hotel is HUGE and very impersonal and was extremely crowded. The Swissotel is right down the road and much nicer if pricing is similar. There are few updates to the property in general and it just seems outdated and none of the restaurant choices seemed great. I am sure this location is fine in the Summer but walking to attractions from this location in the Winter is a pain. This is the only four star hotel I really try to avoid in Chicago.
  3. Chicago 9/26-9/29 Loop - bus, high-speed, fitness $136 best value - I think Hark Rock, correct? NMA - cust. fav, rest., bus., fit., high-speed - $174 MM - Boutique, fitness, bus, high-speed $191 When I am checking w/car or air the Drake and Intercontinental, Meridian show up only as four stars. Does anyone know why?
  4. I think the Hudson in on HOTWIRE for apx. $165 if you haven't booked anything yet.
  5. Thank you for your input, mtohio, I too am a buckeye. I promise I am not one of those ones that turns over cars or anything thereuare. By splitting do you mean changing hotels?
  6. I have been going through Savings Barn, I really appreciate all of your help.
  7. I did just that, and it denied it. However, the suggested price dropped over $100 to $252. I really think I just want Upper Midtown and Midtown East. I can wait a few days and do it and try five star again and then switch to four stars. How should I do it? What do you think I will get?
  8. So I should start with MTE 5* and bid what? If I do not get it, should I add another area and try again? If this does not work I will try again and go with four star hotels in upper midtown and midtown east, and what should I bid then? If I do not get it I will add either upper east side or upper west side because neither area has any four star hotels. Thanks again for your help.
  9. I think I understand. I would pick midtown east and upper midtown and only four star hotels. I would put in a bid and if it is rejected I would wait 72 hours and then go back and add another area that does not offer any four star hotels. What should I bid? What should I counter-bid? Is it possible to try just the 5 star in midtown east? If you try that and do not get it, can you switch to four stars in the same area and add add upper midtown? Thanks so much for your help.
  10. Sorry, that was unclear. I can spend a little more than $200, sure.
  11. Yes, that is fine. I would prefer under that, but I do not have any firm limits. I have never used Priceline before and am a little confused as to how to bid.
  12. four star midtown east looks good as well.
  13. I think any the four star hotels listed under that area would be great. What other areas would you reccommend?
  14. I am going to stay for three nights, and all the four star hotels in the Upper Central park region look great. How do I do it? What is the strategy I should apply?
  15. I am sorry I did not record the ammeneties, I will have to check my Father's account because I booked it at his house. This trip went very well. I paid $40 extra a night and upgraded to a lakeview room on the top floor with access to an unbelievable hospitality room with free drinks practically all the time, h'ouer dourves, breakfast, and a fabulous view. My parents paid $60 more for a corner suite. Sure, this hotel has seen better days but it is still lovely, and in an unbeatable location. $140 some dollars for big rooms on the lake and free stuff? Forget about it.
  16. Okay. Thanks so much, you are great! I am going to New York with some girlfriends on April 15th and a friend used her corporate rate at The Renaissance Times Square for apx. $250 a night, so I am set there unless you have any suggestions. I am going to stay for two or three nights extra for work. I am in design and retail and am not sure if I will need two or three days to see some showrooms. I need a somewhat central location but the quality of the hotel is my first priority, I do not want to spen more than $200.
  17. 4.5* or 5* in NYC April 17-19 help I have never used priceline before but want a 4.5 or 5 star hotel somewhere near the city center, I am going to be in town for the weekend for fun, but am staying longer for work. What should I do?
  18. april 17-18, MTE 4* $165, boutique, business, internet, Spa,fitnes Does anyone know what this is?
  19. Got three rooms at the Drake. I read reviews on Tripadvisor and they were not positive. Does anyone have any redeaming(sp?) words? This was the only 4.5 star hotel listed on the Gold Coast for that time, I thought it was the Omni.
  20. This is a little late, but I stayed at the Venetian for Sept. 16-19 of 04, paid $199 per room, per night and LOVED it. I got three rooms which I booked back-to-back, not all at once and paid extra $20 per night per room when I checked in to get two queen beds in each room. We had three girls to a room but you coulld easily do more if you didn't mind being a little cramped. They even gave us connecting rooms so it was like having a giant suite! We had a "bridal shower" and ordered takeout pizzas from cafe luxe, the rooms were perfect for a gathering like this. I called hotwire prior to making the reservation and they pretty much confirmed that any 5* hotel on the strip would be either The Venetian or The Bellagio. We were treated wonderfully, no snubs for using hotwire, and I can not wait to go back.
  21. Thanks for your quick response. I am really looking for April 15-17, and would take a weekend break with my husband if I could ever get The Plaza for an outstanding rate. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this website. I have told so many people about it. I just like to be aware of all of the Hotwire options for New York, which is why I inquired about the hotel. I will definitely post my results when I do make a reservation. Any tips for getting The Plaza or The Waldorf? Thanks so much.
  22. Midtown east, 4.5 star just business and fitness, NO restaurant, I see nothing on the list that meets this criteria. I am looking for this Friday and Saturday and it is coming up as $167 a night. Thanks.
  23. This Chicago loop hotel has fitness, internet, and restaraunt but no boutique. Any ideas?
