Started at $70 and rebid in $5 increments adding nonsense zones until they finally accepted. Not the best deal I've gotten on priceline, but a lot better than the advertised rate of $125. Linked to PRICELINE from here of course.

There's no block rate available. I'm not sure what I'll do....but I'll certainly post the details of whatever room I get (and link from here to get it). Do you think there is an advantage to waiting until the last minute to bid? If the purpose of priceline really is to fill up rooms that would have otherwise gone empty then that would make sense, but I haven't really seen people pressing that point here on this site.

Thanks for the response. I'm not really flexible on dates or location (going to a wedding), but I could always go down on star rating. I'm pretty new to this, is 1/2 of the listed price a pretty good guideline when bidding on priceline? Whatever I end up doing, I'll use the PRICELINE or HOTWIRE link to do it. Thanks again. marko b

I am trying to get a four star in downtown Austin for the weekend of Oct 23-25, but bid up to $90 and can't get a room. I see that a lot of other people have been able to get rooms for $60-70 on weekends. Any ideas anyone....? I looked to see if there happens to be a big convention or anything in town and don't see that there is. Should I wait until the last minute to bid?

I have this same question and can't find a good answer. I've scoured the priceline site and can't find any mention of a minimum driver age. I found some other websites that said you only need to be 21 to rent, but I'm skeptical of that because I don't see it anywhere on the priceline site. I am a member of USAA and their website has codes through Avis, Budget, and Hertz to waive the young driver fee, but can I add this code to a priceline rental??

Well, I just went for it and it turned out to be Hyatt Summerfield Suites!

I'm looking for a 3* hotel in the North Colorado Springs area (I'd really like to get Hyatt Summerfield Suites but know I can't be too picky), and came across a listing with amenities I don't believe have been listed on this site before: For $59, I found a listing for a 3* North Colorado Springs Hotel for dates 9/24-9/27 on HOTWIRE with: Suite Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool Business Center Laundry Services High Speed Internet Access Kitchenette Any ideas which hotel this could be? My best guess would be Residence Inn or Summerfield Suites as I don't think Hyatt Place (the other 3* in the area) has kitchenettes. But maybe it's a new hotel.....?

Yes, I just confirmed--it was 3.5 stars. I initially bid $55 for a 4-star in, I think, both the downtown or reliant stadium-med center zones and was rejected. On my second bid I lowered the rating to 3.5 stars and bid for downtown and reliant stadium and was accepted. Total price came to $136.82 for two nights. The hotel was great, other than the $14/night charge for parking. I admit I didn't use the link from this website to make my bid (mainly because I didn't know the site existed) but always will in the future!! mark
