  1. Seems like a good deal, $50 first try. Could have been lower?
  2. Failed bids from $42 to $54 for 4* downtown Minneapolis using re-bid technique. $40, $42 not accepted for bloomington 3.5*, accepted at $44.
  3. Bid up to $130. Honestly I'm disappointed since this is really no different that the rates online right now for this hotel.
  4. I agree its unlikely Priceline needs your petty cash, I would be more concerned about the security of your information. Its always possible to get scammed. I would call your bank immediately and at least report so you can say you did so if you need to take recourse in the future. Corporations love to use your inaction against you. Also send priceline an e-mail as well as mailed letter asking for clarification and stating that you are keeping records and are advising your bank and possibly local authorities of the situation. Most likely it's nothing more than an innocent mistake or an obnoxious policy change, but it never hurts to be careful.
  5. After making 3 other bookings for $58 at the westin nova scotian around the same time, including one on the same date, priceline started rejected the same bid for 4*. Bids up to $82 for halifax 4* and 3.5* were rejected, although in both cases I was getting the 'one time offer' to increase my bid by $18, so must have been close. I went down to 3* and got accepted at $74. I wasn't paying attention to the hotels in the re-bid zones so this is in dartmouth, but fortunately in reality its right across the river from the westin so the group isn't far separated.
  6. When you bid on priceline, do you have to wait 24 hours from the last time you attempted a legitimate bid? Or does the clock reset every time you try to bid if you are trying to early? For example say you bid on a room, and its rejected because of the price. Then 20 hours later you try again, and it tells you it cannot accept the same bid so soon. Do you now have to wait another 24 hours from that point, or only 4 more hours?
  7. Just wanted to point out that this bid is linked on the calendar of wins, but in fact it was not a win.
  8. Bids of $40, $50, $60, $70 and $80 were rejected for Charlottetown zone 1 2* hotel. Anybody know what hotels priceline uses in Charlottetown? Is the same chain of hotel always the same priceline star-rating from city to city?
  9. I made somewhat complicated reservations in Halifax, planning for family arriving and leaving at different times, along with being away from Halifax for the nights of July 30 and 31. I needed a room for July 28, and 2 rooms for July 29. In addition I needed 2 rooms for Aug 1 - 3 and one room for Aug 4 -5. This appears to require 4 separate bidding wins, 3 of which I won at $58 after $50 and $55 were rejected. I ran into snag after 3 bookings: First I successfully booked a room for Aug 1 - 5 first at $58. Then I booked another room Aug 1 - 3 for $58. Next I booked one room July 28 - 29 for $58. Finally I needed only one additional room for July 29 only, but it did not accept $58. Using the multiple zoning technique I bid up to $64 which was rejected as well, now I'm out of permutations for a *4 until tomorrow. To be clear, it was not because of too many attempts on the same options, it was because it would not accept the price. I resorted to bidding a *3 up to $60 which was also rejected. I am still needing this last day and will try again tomorrow. Some observations and some questions: 1) Why did the system suddenly stop accepting the $58 bids? 2) Was there a way I could have done this with less bids (could I have booked the whole segmented plan as one bid?) 3) Does priceline ever 'run out' of rooms? If indeed they are out of rooms for $58, if somebody cancels their conventionally-booked room at the same hotel, can a room open up on priceline? 4) I also tried booking rooms for Charlottetown which I eventually gave up on, but I did notice something very interesting. I was able to bid 4 times in a row on the exact same criteria (*2, zone 1) and dates, adjusting only the price each time. Normally you need to adjust some other aspect of the bid apart from the price in order to re-bid. What was this not required for Charlottetown bidding? Does the system has glitches like this? Thanks
  10. $65 successful after several re-bids. Failed bids: 4* 1 - $60 1+2 - $63 1+3 - $65 - denied based on 3* similar 1+5 - $70 3* 1 - $55 1+2 - $58 1+3 - $61 The numbers correspond to the Edmonton zones
  11. Bids of $70, $78, $82, $86, $90, $94, $98, and $102 were rejected before $106 was accepted. I was a little disappointed considering some have listed successful bids as low as $69 for this property. I guess the market changes, perhaps its because of the Victoria day weekend.
  12. Stayed here 1 night. Took a cue from the last guy, bid $66 and was accepted. I was really impressed by this place, it is better than the majority of 3* places I've stayed at. Seems like its relatively new. Big, clean rooms. Free wi-fi. Quiet, comfortable. Free parking outside. Continental breakfast was a step up from Comfort Inn or Econolodge where I've stayed previously, and the eating area itself was large and accommodating to plenty of people. Very strong value. Feels much more like a good hotel than a motel.
  13. A follow up to our stay. Very decent place for the money. Staff super-friendly and helpful, which I think is characteristic of Fargo in general. Continental breakfast quite good. One problem I had was the pillows, there were about 5 of them, all quite small and not supporting your head very well. I had a bit of a restless sleep because of these cheap pillows. We did not use the pool but it appeared very small. hot tub looked about normal size. Not unexpected for a cheaper motel. Otherwise very satisfied.
  14. A quick follow up to this place. Very good for a motel in the 'super 8' category. Clean overall, clean bathroom, waffles continental breakfast, pleasant staff. Good deal for the money, no red flags. Hopefully Hotwire continues to use this place as a 2* rating, which is probably appropriate.
  15. I bid $31 for 2* in the Fargo ND area, 1 of 3 areas to choose from when bidding on a room in Fargo. Priceline countered with suggestion to raise bid by $8, which I did and it was accepted. Total price $39.00 + $11.28 fees = 50.28 USD. Rejected bids (all of the following were including all three Fargo areas in the bid): 3* $31 2.5* $31 2* $31 3* $41 2.5* $41 2.5* $46 3* $51 2.5* $51 3* $56 2.5* $56 3* $61 2.5* $61 3* $64 Question: If I had re-bid less than the $8 they asked in the counter-offer, is it possible it would have been accepted?
  16. Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access
  17. Got econo lodge, never been there before. Reviews look decent enough for that price, mostly better than Super 8. Will keep you posted. Taxes and fees were $10.66 = total $49.66
