  1. I'm not sure why my new thread was merged. The point was to try to open a dialogue on peoples' experience upgrading at the Marriott New Orleans. Doesn't seem to make sense burying it in an old bid-won thread.
  2. Thanks Aaron. Yes, I do realize PL ressies are not officially eligible for upgrades. I was simply asking if folks have had any success at this property. I did not realize someone had posted on my original post so it looks like upper rooms, riverside would be a request.
  3. Have an upcoming stay - in on Monday 11/12 for three nights. Going by the motto that it never hurts to ask (especially if done nicely), I am curios if anyone has had any luck with free or reasonable upgrades at this property. Also, any rooms types/locations to request? Thanks!
  4. $50 4* French Quarter - Nope $55 4* French Quarter + New Orleans East - Nope $60 4* French Quarter + New Orleans East + New Orleans West Bank - WIN I've read mixed reviews on the Marriot, but for $60 in the FQ, I'll take it... And use the $ saved on all the great food! Used the PRICELINE QuickQuote Link
  5. Used thereuare's PRICELINE link and booked Full Size, one-way MCO 4-21-12 to FLL 4-30-12. Hotwire best rate has been between $17.95 & $18.95. Started bidding at $12. Got it today for $15-Total $225.08 (Hotwire had it at $17.95-Total $253.33)So that's a little over 10% PL advantage.
  6. We're looking for a Full-Size car. Currently at $252 ttl on HW. I haven't done a one-way rental in a number of years and couldn't believe the fees. Up to $200 in some cases. I don't recall them ever being so high. Maybe it's an MCO thing. At any rate, the HW price seems pretty decent, so maybe I should bid PL at 25% as suggested and see what happens.
  7. Doing a one-way rental MCO-FLL 4/21-4/30. Is there any downside to finding the HW rate and then going to PL and bidding for 10-20% less? Anyone have any experience with price differences between the two? BTW, the site new site design looks great. Mybe it's not too new Haven't been on much as we're usually booking for 5ppl.
  8. Forgot to add. Amenities listed... Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa Services Also had a Bed Choice option if you just entered 2 adults
  9. Couldn't go w /PRICELINE as we needed two rooms that could each sleep 2 adults and 2 children for the Friday of marathon weekend. Booked through the HOTWIRE link here. Pretty happy with the deal.
  10. Well, definitely a bit of a better deal for multiple room/nights as I just booked this for the Friday and Saturday, two rooms for $200. Bidding....Staying in Copley only (wanted to try and get the Park Plaza) I started at $190 and bid in $10 increments to $240. Twice what we paid about a month ago but this is a rough weekend.
  11. Have family coming in for this VERY BUSY weekend. Looking here and at HOTWIRE and other usuals I knew it wouldn't be good. We were looking for two rooms for Fri and Sat. I had my folks book rooms at the Taj (formerly Ritz) for $370+tax/room/night that they were able to cancel. Bidding...started at $175 for 4* in Copley and bid up to $200...no luck. Moved to 3.5*Copley, again starting at $175 and ended up getting the rooms at the park Plaza for $200 each. I am now trying for just one night 10/17/09, one room for myself and the family, but have so far struck-out and I'm up to $230/Copley. Really wanted to try and get the same hotel, but it looks as though multiple rooms/nights might be part of this equation. All bidding done through the PRICELINE link here.
  12. After a bidding marathon I won Cambridge 4* for $130. (Posted in MA wins forum). Filling the form after successful bid meant listing old request number, name, email, date and number of nights for the original/canceled reservation and the same info for the new reservation.
  13. Not a lot of deals for 09/12/09. I exhausted nearly all my re-bids working up to $130 for 3.5* and 4* in Copley, Waterfront-Aquarium and Waterfront-Convention Center. All were rejected at $130. I just had one bid left (as far as I could calculate) and was impatient so I started at $130 in Cambridge for a 4*. I wasn't planning on staying across the river, but I wanted to stay clear of Quincy-Market/Fanuel Hall for fear of getting the Omni Parker with it's small rooms. We have extra people/kids and couldn't chance the possibility of one double bed in a small room. At any rate $130 was my first 4* bid in Cambridge, so certainly start below that if you're looking to stay in that zone on that night. I've never stayed there but it looks like a nice place. Great resource here....thanks! Also, I started bidding through the PRICELINE link here.
  14. This was their response. Looks simple enough...no stipulations other than to change what was wrong...going to bid now.... 15. Thanks! I started another thread in the MA forum, with the win (or lose in my case) details. I'll post back later with news from cust svc.
  16. I mentioned this in another thread. 2 rooms- 4* Boston (Revere-Logan Airport BOS) Hilton Airport , $110 ... 9/12/09. This was a "mistake" bid placed on 08/31/09. I meant to be bidding on another zone.....looooooser.... Someone else here got this for $75 for the same day, I think.
  17. Hi All, Well, I made a rookie mistake and accidentally bid on the wrong zone. (Ended up getting 4* in Revere - Logan Hilton for $110.) I contacted Customer Svc, explained that I bid on the wrong zone and they offered what I understand is their standard deal. (Read Below). Pretty fair, all things considered. At any rate, I think I am going to follow their directions and rebid, so I'm just out the $25. Does anyone have any experience with this? Specifically, I was wondering about the following... "We will send a separate e-mail with instructions outlining how to submit a new request on our website with the correct information." Are there going to be any restrictions on my bidding in these "instructions"? For example, will a successful bid have to be one that is equal to or higher than the $110? Will it have to be a 4*? Etc.... Thanks so much! I'll follow up on how things go, and bid through the link here (unless I need to follow a specific link in their email) and report back. PRICELINE CUSTOMER SVC RESPONSE Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. We understand that you submitted a hotel reservation in Boston with the incorrect location. You would like to cancel your reservation and submit a new request with correct information. We are able to make an exception, and cancel your reservation for a fee. Please respond to this e-mail as soon as possible with your approval to cancel your reservation. It is very important that you contact us before your current check-in date, which is September 12, 2009. We are not able to refund or make changes after this time. Upon receipt of your approval via e-mail, we will cancel your reservation minus a cancellation fee of $128.95. The refund for the remaining amount will be posted to your credit card account within 10 business days. We will send a separate e-mail with instructions outlining how to submit a new request on our website with the correct information. If you follow the instructions and are successful in booking a new reservation, we will refund the cancel fee minus a flat change fee of $25.00. We look forward to assisting you with your inquiry.
