  1. Reporting a win on the first try Your Offer Price: $20.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 7 SubTotal: $140.00 Taxes and Fees: $87.77 Total Rental Car Charges: $227.77 Lowest Kayak Standard (no Mid-Size listed) Hertz was $362 ($52/day) Even my company rate, which is usually the lowest, was $275 all in. Not bad for 7 days. Maybe we'll get upgraded given my Hertz status. Thanks!
  2. Hi there, Here's a little research... Recent winning bids for Vdara: $110 - 10/2/12-10/6/12. Online price for Vdara for those dates (today): $154 $73 - 11/18/12-11/23/12. Online price for Vdara for those dates (today): $101 $140 - 10/19/12-10/22/12. Online price for Vdara for those dates (today): $229 So my best guess was that I could at a minimum, start bidding around $50 below the listed price. 11/3/12-11/5/12 online price for Vdara (today): $150 Started bid at $100 Strip South Zone 5 ... rejected Added Summerlin $110 Zone 5 only ... rejected Added Speedway $120 Zone 5 only ... won! Offer Price: $120.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: $240.00 Taxes & Fees: $40.38 Total Charged to Card: $280.38 If I booked directly with Vdara, it would have been $356 incl tax (not including resort fee). Saved about $80, not bad. Thanks!
  3. Hi there, Bid in Santa Cruz 4* $82 (Chaminde at $224) 3.5* $82 3* $82 (Hyatt Scott's Valley at $227) 2.5* $68 No win. Low bids, I know, but was hoping to get lucky. May try again later
  4. First bid - Costa Mesa/Irvine $42...no win Second bid - added Laguna Beach $47...win! Final Bid $47.00 Rooms: 2 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $94.00 Taxes & Fees: $20.56 Total Charged to Card: $114.56 Lowest Priceline for this hotel $96/room Hilton website $96/room Good deal!
  5. Very pleased with this result. Bid $12, they countered at $14. Given that the lowest mid-size I could find online was $35-$50 at any of the rental agencies and Hotwire was $28, this is fantastic. Thanks. Your Offer Price: $14.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 2 days(1 days and 18 1/2 hours) Subtotal: $28.00 Taxes and Fees: $19.74 Total Charges: $47.74 Lowest Published Price: $114.05 Total Savings:* $66.31 (You saved 58%)
  6. Bid $42, denied Was offered at $57, declined Added Anaheim Hills, bid $45 (was told there was no chance of being accepted), changed bid to $46, accepted! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $46.00 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.33 Total Charges*: $59.33 Website at $89 without taxes Another great deal! Thanks!
  7. Saw the wins at $41 but was hoping I'd get Hyatt Place if I put in $42. Need a place tonight and have limited internet time to bid. Won at $42. Total including tax $56.06. Good deal. Best online rate is $79 plus tax for a total around $92. Probably could have put in less but again, was hoping for Hyatt which includes breakfast. Doubletree does not. Both have free wifi and parking. Thanks.
  8. Needed a hotel room and didn't want to re-bid too many times. First offer was accepted. Very happy with the results considering Hilton.com rate was $179. Parking is $37/night according to their website. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $70.00 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Fees: $16.61 Total Charges*: $86.61
  9. Bid $39, 3.5* rejected Bid $43, 3.5* added Anaheim Hills accepted Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $43.00 Subtotal: $43.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.57 Total Charges*: $55.57 Not thrilled to get Hilton Suites (expecting Hyatt or Crowne) but for this price it is fine. Self parking from the Hilton website says it is $11/day. There is a hotel shuttle to Disneyland for $4/person (also from Hilton's website). Parking at Disneyland is $12. It's not terribly different driving vs. shuttle. I stayed at Hyatt a couple months ago and I remember the shuttle was free. Thanks again for the forum.
  10. Bid $14 for compact, rejected. Given offer of $18 to win, didn't take it. Bid $14 for economy, rejected. Bid $16 for mid-size, accepted. Your Offer Price: $16.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 2 days(1 days and 7 hours) Subtotal: $32.00 Taxes and Fees: $22.85 Total Charges: $54.85 Lowest price on Hotwire around $20/day, total of $62 including tax. Lowest price on Priceline (non-bid) around $17/day, total of $60 including tax. Happy to have gotten a larger size vehicle and save a couple dollars.
  11. Actually, had found a nice condo and was going to go that route when I decided to give the resorts a try. Bid $80, Waikoloa, Resort - no win, was asked to raise bid by $22 Added Hilo, upped to $90, resort - won for four nights Including fees and tax was around $415 Lowest rate online for resorts in that area around $240-250 Happy =)
  12. Bid a couple more times since first post. Generally increased $5/day (French Quarter only) Tried $55 for 4*, 3.5*, 3* $60 for 4*, 3.5*, 3* $65 for 4*, 3.5*, 3* Finally just put in $73 for 4*, 3.5*, 3* Won 3* The Chateau Bourbon - A Wyndham Historic Hotel Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $73.00 Subtotal: $73.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.29 Total Charges*: $92.29 This is fine. Hotel website shows $125+tax
  13. Saw a winning post at $35 and decided to give it a try (didn't really expect to win as lowest Hotwire convertible price at over $50/day) Won. Okay. 5 days at $35 Total Charges: $231.53 Says "Lowest Published Price: $328.81" (Went to check Alamo.com, this is the lowest price but without taxes. With taxes, it comes out to around $395) There probably could be more savings but this isn't bad for a convertible.
  14. Have some time until I go so I decided to try and low ball the bid Bid $45 4* French Quarter - no win Added 3.5*, also at $45 - no win Added 3*, changed to $50 - no win Will try again in a few days. Used PRICELINE link.
  15. Bid $48 Disneyland, 3.5* - Rejected Offered for $14 more - Didn't do this Added Laguna Hills - Mission Viejo, still 3.5*, bid $54 - Accepted Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $54.00 Subtotal: $54.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.12 Total Charges*: $68.12 Offer to extend your stay at the same rate -- interesting given that it's New Year's timeframe. Clicked through this website's PRICELINE links. Also tried this about a week ago, bid up to $65 and was still rejected so seems like prices might be coming down.
  16. No. I'm a month out from going and I don't see the risk in trying for 50% discount and working my way up.
  17. Hotwire is $24.95/day for an economy car, plus taxes it comes out to $126 and change. It's about the same as my Hertz coupon but I get bonus airline miles (United) with the coupon.
  18. Tried in this order: $9 Compact $20 Convertible $12 Mid-Size $15 Standard $12 Economy and then gave up. I have a Hertz coupon that comes out to $128 total with taxes, approx $23/day for Compact. Since I have some time, I'm going to keep trying.
  19. Bid 3* Ithaca - Cornell University $80 for one night 4/26/08 and was not accepted. Changed bid to $90, added one night 4/27/08 and was accepted. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $90.00 Subtotal: $180.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $33.58 Total Charges*: $213.58 I believe Hotwire was offering the same room for $114/night. Cheapest online rate is $166/night. Website for the hotel states there is a free local area shuttle which includes Ithaca airport. That's nice. Sorry, I didn't see any information regarding Ithaca bids on this board and honestly didn't think I would get a hotel at this price. Just slipped my mind to go through the PRICELINE link. Will do next time.
  20. 01/08/08 - Bid history 4* Reno - Downtown - $42 - no win (strange that is available to select if there are supposedly no hotels in this category) 4* Reno - Downtown + South/Airport - $48 - no win 4* + 3* Reno - Downtown + South/Airport - $38 - no win 4* + 3* Reno - Downtown + South/Airport + Sparks (no 3* on priceline pinned list but if selected individually, 3* is available...) - $42 - no win 01/09/08 - Bid history 4* Reno - Downtown - $55 - no win 4* Reno - Downtown + South/Airport - $60 - won Atlantis Casino Resort Spa Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $60.00 Subtotal: $60.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $15.27 Total Charges*: $75.27 Orbitz has this at $69.00 + $10.42 taxes = $79.42 so I didn't save much. Hotwire as a few options but it looks like Holiday Inn and Grand Sierra Resort (bad reviews on both). I'm happy to save a few dollars but I was hoping for El Dorado $90-Orbitz (which I don't understand why it is listed under South/Airport because it is definitely downtown and connected to Silver Legacy....) or Silver Legacy $80-Orbitz. But anyway, the snow is going to perfect! Used Savingsbarn.com link.
  21. Bid $45 for 3* Napa-Sonoma (Santa Rosa-Rohnert Park-Petaluma) - Rejected They offered re-bid +$13 with no change in zone I didn't take their offer. Instead I added Napa as a zone and didn't change the star level. Bid $51 and was accepted. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $51.00 Travel Insurance: $5.00 Subtotal: $56.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.43 Total Charges*: $69.43 Haven't stayed at Fountaingrove Inn before. I hope it is nice. Hotwire seems to have it for $59 (not sure if it's the same hotel though) + tax would be $72. Used Savingsbarn.com link. Thanks.
  22. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $48.00 Subtotal: $48.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.28 Total Charges*: $61.28 Checked betterbidding, seemed like lowest bid was $50. Accepted on first bid of $48. Marriot.com shows lowest price of $149. Used savingsbarn.com link. Priceline also offered extended nights for the same rate.
  23. Bid 5* Bloombury-Marble Arch, Mayfair-Soho, $100...rejected. Added 4*, same $100...rejected. Added 3*, changed to $87...accepted. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$87.00 Travel Insurance: US$5.00 Subtotal: US$92.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$23.10 Total Charges: US$115.10 Holiday Inn website best price right now is approx USD $188 before tax, approx USD $222 after tax. Considering how expensive London is, I'm pretty happy with this result. Not sure if I could have gotten away with lower. I also need to stay one night on 10/13/07 but I may bid for a hotel near Heathrow. I'll post again if I do. Thanks.
  24. Bid $65 3* Monterey (Monterey - Pacific Grove) - rejected Bid $75 - added (Carmel - Carmel Valley) for true re-bid - rejected Bid $78 - added (Marina - Seaside) - rejected Bid $65 - added 2.5* for all zones - rejected That's about all I'm willing to pay. I've stayed at the Hyatt Monterey twice and paid about $70 through Priceline. The recent prices are a little high. Checked various hotel websites: Resort Marina Dunes - $219/night 3* Hyatt Monterey - available $289/night 3* Embassy Suites - available $289/night 2.5* Best Western Mission Inn - available $189/night 2.5* Best Western Victorian Inn - no availability 2.5* Casa Munras - available (lowest price) $170/night There doesn't seem to be a Marriott in Monterey (only Courtyard and Residence Inn, both in Salinas). There doesn't seem to be a Hilton in Monterey (only in Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley). Please check and update pinned list.
