  1. Hi, I submitted a bit for the above-mentioned zone for $60 and it was rejected. Priceline suggested an instant rebid for $69, which I accepted. I was given the Marriott. Thanks!
  2. Hi, Just won the Westin for $60/night plus applicable fees and taxes. February is low season in Halifax, but as our stay falls during the 2011 Canada Winter Games, I wasn't too sure what to expect...I'm pretty happy with the price I paid! I was able to get the hotel on my 5th try. Previous attempts were $50, $55, $58 (added a new zone every time as there are only 4* hotels in the downtown area anyway), $58 again 2 days later -ran out of zones to add. Note: I didn't try the airport zone- and $60 (final and winning bid). Below is the summary of my invoice: Summary of Charges Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $60.00 (USD) Apply for our new priceline rewards Visa card today. Get cash back. choose your card Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $240.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $51.48 (USD) Total Room Cost: $291.48 (USD) (All prices are in US dollars) I stayed at the Westin 2 years ago and it's a very nice hotel. The staff was very helpful and if the lobster feast is on at the restaurant in the lobby, you MUST have it at least once. $45 for seafood chowder, a whole lobster + desert. MMM :) Thanks Betterbidding!
  3. Hi, Got the Holiday Inn Continental, Lisbon for 1 night. I only bidded once, here's the detail of the transaction: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $65.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $65.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $13.12 (USD) Total Room Cost: $78.12 (USD) Thanks betterbidding.com!
  4. Hi, Got the Holiday Inn Lisbon for 2 nights. The hotel is alright, although the staff could be a little bit more friendly... The room is comfortable, although we were given a room on the 3rd floor so we do not have much of a view... Also, American tourists should know that you must leave their hotel key in a little sensor located at the entrance of their hotel room in order to be able turn on any light). Took us a few minutes to figure it out lol...Portugal is pretty green! :) Hotel is less than 10 mins drive from the old Lisbon, which is filled with touristic attractions. We have not used the hotel's wireless connection although it is offered (we are using 3g through a sim card offered by TMN instead). I only bidded once, here's the detail of the transaction: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $65.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $130.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $20.68 (USD) Total Room Cost: $150.68 (USD) I asked the front desk if it was possible to renew my stay for an additional night and they said it was not possible because of full occupancy. I forgot I could probably book the same room through priceline so I went for a totally new transaction. Got the Holiday Inn CONTINENTAL for July 7th where the same bid (65$) was accepted. I also used the PRICELINE link in the right corner of this forum to book my vacation. Cheers!
  5. Stay is for labour day week-end... Sept. 3rd through Sept. 6
  6. Just booked the Crowne Plaza for Labour day week-end at $59/night. Book it at $55/night last year but this year I'm a bit last minute... Here's my bidding history (August 29th) : $50, $53, $55 and $57. All those attempts were unsuccessful. Today's try was accepted, however. Here's the detail. Your Offer Price: $59.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $177.00 Taxes and Fees: $36.24 Total Charges*: $213.24 Used the PRICELINE link to book as well. Cheers!
  7. My friends just visited from NY and stayed at Hotel Brossard, which is on the South shore of Montreal. www.hotelbrossard.ca/english/english.htm If you have a car, it's a great location. 99$/night, free continental breakfast and free parking. You can then decide to take the bus (15 mins ride) or park downtown. They had a car and really enjoyed their stay.

  10. So I went ahead and tried to book with PRICELINE. I booked for labour day week-end (Sept 4-7). Here's the total: Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $165.00 Taxes and Fees: $34.23 Total Charges*: $199.23 I used the PRICELINE on the right hand corner of the forums. (Now I just need to get there before 6PM tomorrow and cancel my inital reservation. I think I'm assured availability for an upgrade that way!)
  11. I'm driving there to visit a friend (he lives close to Columbia University). I was also thinking about visiting New York so I'd say the main purpose of this trip is leisure. I booked the Crowne Plaza Englewood with their promotion "buy 2 get 3rd free" at a rate of 119/night (which is still pretty good). I was just wondering if I could get a better price with Name your Price and if it was worth the trouble... I hear the Marriott is also a better hotel than Crowne so I'm not sure what I should be doing... This is my first time booking a hotel in NJ.
  12. What 3.5* hotels are found in the Teaneck-Fort Lee area? I've looked at Priceline's hotel maps and I was able to find 2 : Crowne Plaza Englewood and Marriott at Glenpointe. Are there more? (I want to use the name your price feature and am ok with these two hotels but am trying to make sure there are no other hotels in that area that have the same star rating that I'm not aware of...) Thanks for the help!
  13. Here's an updated map of NY/New Jersey's hotels : <link removed> Could anyone help me classify the hotels shown on the map (click the above-mentioned link) into the 4 following categories? They are the categories I have to choose from when using "Name your price". (I'm trying to get a hotel close to Columbia University and would love to get the Hilton/Marriott, etc. in a safe neighborhood) I'm obviously not from that area lol... Thanks! 1-Paramus - Hackensack 2-Ridgefield 3-Saddle Brook-Hasbrouck Heights 4-Teaneck - Fort Lee
