  1. Fair enough... let's focus on the $49 3* hotel (first on the list). BTW, is there a how-to I can read on your method of guessing what these hotels are?
  2. Thanks for the help, but unfortunately this trip got canceled and I wasn't able to verify what hotel it actually was. I expect to replan the trip later this year.
  3. I need help ID-ing a few Hotwire hotels in Reston - Sterling - Dulles Intl Airport IAD North. I searched for 2/7/09 - 2/10/09 and got: $49 3* with No-smoking, Fitness, Pool, Laundry, and Internet $89 4* with Shuttle, no-smoking, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet, golf $39 2* with fitness and laundry $89 2.5* with breakfast, fitness, golf, business, and tennis I don't see any exact matches in the current list. Thanks, in advance!
  4. The following doesn't seem to match any hotels in the Hotwire list. Can someone help me ID it? Thanks. Search ------- Nov 25 - 28, 2008 Ashley River Area 3.5* Result ------- Price: $58/night Amenities: No smoking, Fitness, Restaurant, Pool, Laundry
  5. You were right on. I booked a single night (wanted to know the exact hotel before committing for the entire stay). Hotel info below: Sheraton Orlando - Downtown Hotel 60 South Ivanhoe Boulevard Orlando, Florida 32804 (407) 425-4455 Just out of curiosity, how'd you know it was probably the Sheraton?
  6. Does anyone know what hotel is currently showing up for Orlando Downtown for 10/15 - 10/19 (only one result available)? It is a 3.5* for $73/night and has the following amenities: fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, hi-speed internet The closest match in the forums seems to be Crowne Plaza (formerly Lexington). Could that be it?
  7. Used the SavingsBarn link to get to Priceline.com. Started at $8 for Mid-size and went up to $15 with no luck. Started again at $11 for standard due to re-bid restrictions and because I thought maybe mid-size cars were sold out. Increased the bid by $1 or $2 until $17 (still failed) and was given an instant re-try offer. Bid $18 for standard and won. Here are the details: Car: Standard Company: Alamo Dates: 2/24/08 - 3/02/08 Price: $18 * 7 days = $126.00 + $40.52 (fees and taxes) = $166.52 total
  8. Used the SB link to start bidding. I tried the IAD area up to $50 before switching to Fairfax. Began bidding in Fairfax at $25 and won at $40. Here are the details: Dates: 2/24/08 - 3/1/08 Hotel: Hyatt Fair Lakes Address: 12777 Fair Lakes Circle Fairfax, Virginia 22033 Phone: 703-818-1234 Price: $40 (bid) * 6 (nights) + $38.96 (taxes and fees) = $278.96
  9. I bid MTE and Times Square so many times over that I won't bother to list all my attempts here. Suffice it to say that I'm confident that my winning bid of $210 for Millenium Broadway was the minimum possible. However, it seems that from recent posts the first few days of my stay is what drove the price up. Seems like other bidders have been able to get about $45 or so cheaper rates (MTE especially). Anyway... I was hoping for Hilton or Westin, but this is what I got: Hotel: Millenium Broadway Address: 145 West 44th Street Dates: 12/18/2007 - 12/24/2007 Rate: $210 x 6 nights + $236.30 (taxes and fees) = $1496.30 Avg rate after fees: $249.39 / night I used SavingsBarn.com as always. Anyone stay at this hotel before? I'm curious to hear your experiences.
  10. Hotel: Sheraton Centre Toronto (4*) Date: 8/23/07 - 8/26/07 Price: $70 (bid) * 3 nights + $39.82 (fees) = $249.82 (total) I originally tried Downtown with an initial bid of $55, added Scarborough ($60), East Toronto ($62), Brampton ($65), Don Valley ($67), and finally Markham ($70). I used the SavingsBarn.com link to get to Priceline.com.
  11. Used savingsbarn.com to get to Priceline and bid as follows: 1) Started with Waikiki Beach area Resort for $115... Rejected 2) Added Diamond Head area for $125... Rejected 3) Added Executive Center for $130... Rejected 4) Added Honolulu Airport for $135... Accepted Hyatt Regency Waikiki 2424 Kalakaua Avenue Honolulu, Hawaii 96815-3289 808-923-1234 Your Offer Price: $135.00 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $405.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $62.96 ----------------------------------------------- Total Charges*: $467.96
  12. Attempted to get a 3* hotel in Naples, FL for 12/23. It's a busy time in FL, so I'm not totally surprised that my bids were rejected. Started at $75 and increased to $90 adding locations that don't have 3* hotels. All bids rejected. I'll try again with higher bids in a few days.
  13. I'm looking for a hotel for my parents during graduation weekend (12/15 - 12/17) in Ann Arbor. Hotwire shows a 2* (no amenities) for $49 per night, but I couldn't find Ann Arbor in your list of Hotwire hotels. Do you have any idea what hotel this might be? Thanks
  14. I originally booked the Sheraton Center in downtown Toronto for $68 on 7/29, but I decided to start my vacation a day early. I couldn't add the additional day for the same price using Priceline (they offered $80 per night), so I booked a hotel near the airport for the additional day. Here is the final successful bid info: Hotel: Renaissance Toronto Airport (3*) Date: 7/28/06 - 7/29/06 Price: $40 (bid) + $12.95 (fees) = $52.95 (total) I originally tried to get a hotel in Oakville-Burlington with an initial bid of $31 (based on a 2004 post to the forum), added Mississauga ($35), then finally added Airport ($40). Adding more areas with the same hotel level and also increasing the bid is a quick way to overbid, but in my case, location wasn't important and I was bidding low anyway. I did it to ensure a successful bid in the end. It may be possible to get the same hotel for slightly less. I'm sorry... I forgot to use SavingsBarn.com this time since I started bidding by trying to extend my stay, but I'll use it from now on.
  15. Started at $60 and went up in increments of $2 up to $70 for 7/22/06 with no success. My dates were flexible (vacation), so I tried $68 for 7/29/06 and it succeeded. Subtotal: $68.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $17.33 Total: $85.33
  16. I'm on a road trip up to Michigan from Florida and needed a place to stay about half way. I didn't feel like crashing at just any motel off the freeway, so I decided to Priceline it. Based on a previous posting for Knoxville, I successfully bid the following: Area: Papermill Drive Quality: 2.5* Bid: $31 Dates: 1/2/2006-1/3/2006 This turned out to be Holiday Inn Central on Kirby Road. I originally bid $25, but was refused. The system then offered to let me rebid if I increased the amount by at least $6. A previous post to this BBS described a successful bid of $30, so that seems to be the lowest you can go for this hotel. I'm sorry that I wasn't courageous enough to explore other areas of the city and expand your list of hotels, but I hope this helps anyway.
  17. Started out with a bid of $50 and incremented by $5 until $70 was accepted for the Hilton Walt Disney World Resort for two rooms from 1/1 - 1/3.
  18. I bid $90 for a resort in Key West for the days listed in the title and was rejected. There's a recent post that mentioned a winning bid of $95 for the same region for 1/3 - 1/8/2005. I will try $95 in a few days and let everyone know. Luis
  19. I'm about to bid for the Key West area, but I don't see an option for a 3.5* room. Is there a mistake in your original post or did this hotel get knocked off the list?
