Took a few days bidding 4* Sonoma and Napa seperately from $90-$140 but finally got Renaissance Lodge Marriott 4* (Sonoma) Aug.19-20 for $138 plus tax. No resort fee apparently either! Rack rate is $199, AAA rate is $189 so saved a few bucks and had fun bidding... They countered at $22 more when I hit $132 so I knew I was somewhat close so I just did $2 increments from there and won at $138...interesting! Thanks for the help everybody!!

I can't see Marriott Monterey as an option in the PL Monterey hotel listings. Would PL have dropped it? I can just see the intercontinental as a 4*??

I actually did 8 bids on Napa you recommended and then a seperate 8 bids for Sonoma and then a few combinations of both of them together before I capped out my budget. No glitches, seems straight forward, I think...(-;

Hmmm...I want one of those properties and was quoted $150 government rate at the Westin so I think I'll try again tomorrow up to $130 and if nothing book through Westin. I was hoping Vino Bello would bite at $110 like a few other PL wins. Oh well...Maybe time of the year. I'm sure they are quite busy in August in Napa!! Thanks again for your advice and guiding me through my first PL bidding attempt. Now onto the next leg of the Cali road trip, San Fran.. I'll keep updates and am using forum PRICELINE links. Cheers!

Is San Fran Westin Market location considered SOMA or USE? I see wins in BOTH areas???

I guess try tomorrow starting at a higher level (say $100) and stop at my $130 limit?? Any thoughts/recommendations? A note to all: I phoned Vino Bello (they quoted me AAA rate at $170, rack rate $199) and they told me they do charge a $15 resort fee on top of what I might pay through PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Beav: Thank You so much! I will begin bidding now and keep updating. PS... I just noticed PRICELINE added Rennaisance Resort and Spa to their 4* Napa (Sonoma) under hotel listing. Are the hotels listed at a given time on PL the ONLY properties that you are bidding on?

Thanks Beav: I saw this on HOTWIRE as well but would like to give it a try with PL. Yes...3 free rebids and 9 days and I'm ready to start bidding. Just wanted info on "closing browser to rebid" and "8 bids per cycle" thereuare mentioned above before I get going.

Rack PRICELINE rate for Vino is $199 vs. Westin $229.

I agree with Beav...I can't find the Meritage on this forum or mention of it anywhere on the PL site which again leads me to believe th only 4* properties that PL uses are Westin, Vino Bello and Macarthur Place. Can anyone guide me through a bidding strategy and process to attempt getting one of these for Aug.19? Can't see why I would pay more than $110 based on past Vino Bello PL wins. Thank you both for your help. Still trying to wrap my brain around the process and could use the help for my first PL bid. I was getting PL "neighborhoods" mixed up with "areas" and now understand I have only 3 rebid areas. I'm looking for Aug 19 4*. I see Napa has 5 areas: Napa, Fairfield, Santa Rosa-Rohnert Pk-Petaluma, Sonoma, and Upper Napa. When clicking/checking each individual area I notice the only 4* areas are Napa and Sonoma. I then click on the "Matrix View" which confirms this. I see Napa has Westin Verasa and Vino Bello only under the hotel listing and Sonoma has only Macarthur Place. I hope to win Westin or Vino Bello. My 3 free rebid area additions to Napa would be Santa Rosa, Fairfield, and Upper Napa correct? Can you explain 8 bids per cycle you mentioned? Thanks!!

Sorry for my newbie ignorance. This is Priceline question not Hotwire. Would like to be at the Napa 4* Vino Bello or Westin Verasa, the only two 4* properties in Napa, so looks like I have about 17 free rebids based on the other areas that only have 3.5* or below?

Can't seem to find any info on this 4* hotel. Any help would be appreciated.
