  1. Welcome to Betterbidding A quick look at the HOTWIRE Hotel List for London will give you some of the answers :) You may find that on HOTWIRE you need to expand the amenities to show a bigger list so as to match some of the hotels.
  2. Reading this Priceline Staybridge Suites SFO by Colfax (and seeing what looked like the Staybridge suites on HOTWIRE for $52) I duly tried an initial bid of $40 at the 2.5* level for SFO. The first bid produced a counter offer of adding $12 more. I added the Marina zone (only 2* highest) and bid $45. The result did not come straight away and I had to wait about 15 minutes for the email. My bid had been upgraded to a 3* and this was the Staybridge Suites at San Bruno Free breakfast and free shuttle. Exactly what I was hoping for! Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $14.12 Total Charges*: $59.12 Cheapest non-refundable web-site rate was $140.00 I used the PRICELINE link to start the bid.
  3. One night stay on 14th March 2009 It is now a Renaissance For a $46 win as opposed to a $140 rate I can't really complain. We called the shuttle from airport and seemed to time it OK as there were a lot waiting and we only waited 5 minutes. The hotel is used by tour groups so can be busy at check in and on the shuttle, ours was full. There is no cheap transport from the hotel unless you are going to the airport. Taxi fare anywhere is $20.00! Probably the best idea is to go back to the airport and get transport from there, that's what we did. However this means that an extra $5.50 is added to fares as you are using the Airtrain. There is a Bus 67 from EWR to Newark Penn we did not use due to luggage constraints. Free Wi-fi is only downstairs in the lobby area not in room. There is a nice quiet library where one can work. Pool and Gym. Did not use. We did not eat in the hotel. Overall a cheap overnight option for EWR but not much else.
  4. Stayed for 2 nights March 18-20th 2009. This was our second visit and again we were Ok with the hotel and location. Don't expect any freebies here but for $70 when the rate was $236 I won't complain. Decent sized room with coffee maker Wireless and wired Internet is $13.00, gym is $10 (unless you are a Silver+ Hilton member). Good location with three Metro stations nearby Fargutt North is the closest.
  5. Stayed for three nights March 15-18th 2009 Agree with the above posters comments. Nearest SEPTA terminal is possibly Suburban Street terminal but a close thing with Market St East. From Suburban St there is an underground walkway that exits at the front of City Hall However: tramps sleep here and we were very nervous walking through them and onwards the 500 metres to the only exit even though it was noon. Free Internet access wired in the room. Also wireless in the room very weak signal Pool 3ft deep and about 20 ft long (tiny and cold!) Jacuzzi to one side. Open 06:00-23:00 with the room key Gym was a reasonable size with 6 treadmills with TV
  6. My fourth (and possibly last :) stay) March 20th 2009 The room has been upgraded a little with an large LCD TV and shinier faucets etc. The gym has been revamped with the treadmills now facing away from the view! Nice touch were the free headsets to use with the equipment. Staff as usual superb. View as usual superb! One minor point now. On a weekend the only place one can get to on the PATH ticket easily is WTC. To get to 33rd St you have to go via Hoboken (no change of train) which adds 15 mins to the 5 minute journey.
  7. Welcome to Betterbidding. Hopefully your stay will be OK. Why not write a brief review of your stay to help others decide if it is a reasonable HOTWIRE hotel?
  8. This Priceline Fees thread may shed some light
  9. Wanted to revisit Washington DC so was looking for two nights midweek. Saw that the Residence Inn had gone for $60 for the weekend so hoped I'd score that at a similar price. Historically 3* seemed to be at about $65-70 so made my maximum bid at $70 for now. Either Whitehouse or Convention centre areas were OK and with two other areas having no higher than 2* (MV and Dc Subs) free rebids were a plenty. I started at $55 and slowly edged my way up to $70. My last unsuccessful bid was $67. Happy with the result- the lowest web-site rate is $236 :) We stayed here last time we visited so know the location and the hotel. Used the PRICELINE link as always.
  10. Not exactly what I was aiming for but can't complain. Arriving late from UK so need a night to recuperate and refresh. All ready had the Holiday Inn (cancelable) at $64 all in but wanted to undercut that and get a free breakfast. :o Saw that the 2.5* Country Inn and Suites may be available at $49. Historically this is around $50 ish. Bid 2.5* Elizabeth for $43.00 Rejected but countered with add $12 more (as expected). No free redbids at this star level so as I want a hotel near to EWR I added EWR as another area. Upped my bid to $46 (lowball as I've time to spare) and Hey presto! :) Congratulations, we've upgraded your hotel quality level to a 3-star hotel Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel 1000 Spring Street Elizabeth Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $46.00 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.47 Total Charges*: $60.47 So I undercut my HI reservation but did not get the free breakfast :) This is a recenlty refurbished hotel so should be good. Cheapest web-site rate is $140 :) Used the PRICELINE link as usual.
  11. Have you seen the information in the Wiki ? Hotel specific link
  12. Research showed that the Holiday Inn had been won for $53 for the 14th. HOTWIRE showed what looked like the HI for my dates at $63. Lowest wins for 3* seemed to be around the $53 mark. Only free rebids at 3* is the [Gloucester - Runnemede - Deptford] area. (which only has a 2.5* maximum) So First bid was for $50 3* Downtown Rejected. :) Added free rebid and upped my bid to $53. Bingo :o BUT not the HI :) Courtyard Marriot Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $53.00 Subtotal: $159.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $32.66 Total Charges*: $191.66 Cheapest web-site rate is $199. Bid through the PRICELINE link
  13. I'm not certain it has ever come up on HOTWIRE but going by the 3* rating on PRICELINE if it did come up on hotwire it would probably be rated at 3.5* . Hotwire always seem to overrate their hotels. If you post when you a looking to stay etc then we can give advice.
  14. Welcome to Betterbidding. According to the SFO Hotwire Hotel List this looks like the Travelodge. If you proceed with the HOTWIRE purchase then please use the links Ta
  15. First of all with all those occupants in the room you really can only go with HOTWIRE as PRICELINE will only guarantee a room for two people. The low wins for Hotwire and Priceline usually occur when the Hyatt rate is down to about $179 or thereabouts. The rates for your stay are 239.00 239.00 179.00 179.00 139.00 239.00 for a two double bed room. As you can see Friday Saturday and Sunday are low (normal for this hotel). I've checked on Hotwire and only Sunday night by itself is at $119 the rest with various combinations are $143 etc. If you think the $145 is reasonable then IHMO I'd go for it. At least you have the hotel booked and one less thing to bother about. You could wait and save more money or maybe lose, who knows? Good luck.
  16. Welcome to Betterbidding. Looking at the Hotwire Hotel List for Vegas and recent wins for this date this is most probably the Wynn. If you use HOTWIRE then please use the link to start your bidding. Good luck
  17. Welcome to Betterbidding. From the Hotwire Hotel List the 2* with the condo amenities looks like the Inn at Oak Plantation The other 2* has not been identified yet. IMHO I would be very wary of 2* properties on Hotwire however the Inn at Oak Plantation gets good reveiws. If you do proced then please use the HOTWIRE link to begin the purchase.
  18. Welcome to Betterbidding! From the Hotwire Hotel List this looks like the Palazzio. If you procede please use the HOTWIRE link. Good luck
  19. Welcome to Betterbidding! Interesting list of amenities there (or not there!) Looks on the face of it to be the Wynn (from the Las Vegas list)as it's not a customer favourite (the Venetian is). If one builds a package then the Venetian is the only 5* that pops up for your dates. :) My best guess is it's the Wynn Please use the HOTWIRE link if you procede and let us know what the outcome is!
  20. We leave EWR on the 21st and wanted to stay at our favourite hotel for at least one night before we leave. Have been trying to lowball the Thurs 19th as well as the Friday 20th at the (what seems to be now) the minimum Pl bid of $71.00 Hotwire has these dates for $109 and the hotel web-site has them at $279 and $199. So I figured that I could get both nights for $71 on PL. basing that on the low hotwire price. I was wrong. I have been bidding occasionally up to $80 for both nights with no luck, no counter offers also. So today I followed the usual pattern, again with no luck. So reasoning that the Thursday rate was the problem with PL (obviously not with HW-assuming it's the Hyatt on there ) I thought I'd bid for just the Friday 20th. Bid Jersey City at $65 and hey presto got a counter offer of $17. Being a tight wad I then added Elizabeth and bid $70 :D no luck :) I then started a new bid of Jersey City + Secaucus at $71 Bingo! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $71.00 Subtotal: $71.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.86 Total Charges*: $89.86 All bids were through the PRICELINE link. I got the offer to add a night, but from earleir bids I'll wait until the web-site rate falls before I go down that route. BTW The Thurs 19th on HW is $122-Go figure :) The only downside of the win: Its my round\treat thereuare! Get a sitter for the 20th and find somewhere cheap! :o :)
  21. Have you been there before? I've just come back from there on a business trip. This was my second time. Their standard rooms are very small, so this time I complained. They upgraded me to a bigger toom for $50. It was so big it had a treamilll in one alcove! Don't buy anything in the hotel as everything is horrendoulsy expensive! Lots of restaurants, cheap eats outside. The location is superb! Enjoy the stay.
  22. I like to get things sorted early if possible. The flights are booked so we are committed. $40 for a hotel at LAX is a good price (IMHO) so get it whilst its hot is my motto.
  23. Much appreciated, thanks. Glad the work did not disrupt the stay. I had a similar experience at the HI at Anaheim. The whole hotel was under scaffolding and plastic sheeting. No mention at all on their web-site. At least we got an updated room and they gave a free breakfast and free shuttle as compensation.
  24. Add it to Hotel Review as a new topic Title should be England London Ambassadors Hotel Kensington-Chelsea-Knightsbridge Hope it wasn't too bad!
  25. If you could write a review of your stay and how the disruption affected you then I know I'd appreciate it!
