This would suggest that waiting is worthwhile...
I've been bidding on Newport 3-3.5 stars up to $110 for the past few days and nothing! Looking for 8/14-16

Just thought I'd share my experience with Priceline in bidding for Newport hotels over the past few weeks. Indeed, in high season hotels sell out! Having seen the great numbers for Hotel Viking, I have tried daily up to $170/night with no luck and now they are sold out for this weekend 8/14-16. Lesson learned: waiting for better deals did not pan out! I did bid $80 for a 2 star in Middletown area and obtained Newport Whirlpool and Suites.
