  1. Thanks, AaronJB. I chose the 3.5 star in North Hills. It was the Hilton North Raleigh Midtown. $78 rate nightly rate. I used the link and the summer promo (thank you very much). And it looks like it's about 4 miles from the reunion hotel. Close enough, especially for the money I saved :)
  2. Ok. I will remember North Hills and Raleigh East. Will keep you all posted. And I will be using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links from this page.
  3. Thanks. I thought Raleigh North might be it. I have also been looking at Priceline because they seem to have more specific zones. Northeast Raleigh, perhaps? I will be there 23June - 25June. The event hotel is Hilton Garden Inn triangle Town Center (family reunion) with a group rate of 124 (includes hotel breakfast) or lowest rate (no breakfast) at 119. I am hoping to get something in the 70 dollar range.
  4. Which Hotwire zone/area would I select for a hotel closest to Triangle Town Center in Raleigh? I'll be attending an event at a hotel near there (zip 27616), and I want to compare Hotwire rates to the event hotel rate. I understand, this won't be exact science, but I'm not familiar with the city and want to make sure I look at the correct zone. Thanks.
  5. This ended up being Doubletree LA-Westside. Hotel was fine. Not shiny new, but clean and comfortable, your basic Doubletree business traveler standard. 15 per night parking, free WiFi, Dinah's restaurant short walk across street.
  6. Re. the Tucson. We actually decided to book directly with Embassy Suites La Paloma for this one.
  7. Hotwire, Culver City, 3star, for 1/19-1/20 amenities are Business Cent, Airport Shuttle, Roll In Shower, Handicap Parking, Pool, High Speed Internet, Fitness Cent, Accessible Bath, Restaurant. $95 Thanks for any help.
  8. So, sorry. I forgot about this one. I actually did not make it to San Diego.
  9. Please help i.d. 3* Tucson (La Paloma - Ventana Canyon) for dates 14Jan - 15Jan. Amenities: Suite, Smoke Free Rooms, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s) On Hotwire for $128 before taxes. I don't see this one in the hotel list. Thanks.
  10. hotwire rate $77 for 3* downtown harbor island amenities listed: breakfast, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, high speed internet trip advisor rate 4 out of 5 (searched for 2 adults, 2 children) thanks
  11. Bid $50 based on winning bids I saw on BetterBidding. First bid accepted. Great deal. Online rates at 139 for this same night. Brief and pleasant stay. Well maintained, clean, business traveler's hotel -- typical of Westin. Free airport shuttle. Thanks, BB, ... and, yes, I used the PRICELINE link.
  12. Thanks much. Very helpful info from both replies.
  13. Can anyone tell how easy/hard it is to get from Hartfield Airport (ATL) to Spelman College without a rental car? I will be there just for an overnight stay to drop off my daughter for summer camp and I REALLY do not want to rent a car. I am not familiar with the area. Would public transit there be an efficient option... taxi? I appreciate any help from those of you familiar with the A T L .
  14. i think i figured it out once i clicked on the other link you referenced; looks like keywords are "resort" and "children activities". thanks!
  15. why do you guess that this is the Prince; do you happen to know the amenities list for HHV?
  16. 3* Oahu (Waikiki Central) Sheraton Princess Kaiulani $65 11/1 - 11/4 it took a little bit of rebidding but... Bid $65 + $10 bonus cash. older hotel... a clean and basic room... bed is very comfortable... location is fantastic if you want a central Waikiki location (urban). no need for a car. very happy with results, especially location and great price. Mahalo, Better Bidding :)
  17. Thanks for your help. It was the Mt. Vernon Hotel. The rate with tax was $71.01 per night. Very pleased with the price and my stay. Great location!! Clean and very spacious room in an older (historic) hotel. Very very pleasant staff.
  18. Still haven't bid... I have been checking Hotwire. Would you please help i.d. either one of the following: Baltimore (Downtown and Inner Harbor Area) 3* $68 Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High Speed Internet Access 85% rating or 2.5* $57 Amenities: Restaurant(s), Business Center 85% rating (sorry I wasn't sure whether to include this question in this topic or whether to move it to the hotwire forum)
  19. Ok. I will start with bidding on the 3.5 stars at the Inner Harbor Zone. I will consider going up on the budget a bit. Since, I would spend more time (and money) getting back and forth between an airport hotel and the harbor (as you both pointed out). Also, I have been checking Hotwire and to be honest I don't see a huge difference between the cost of the airport hotels and the harbor hotels -- at least for my dates.
  20. Ended up booking at new JW Marriott LA Live on phone with Marriott agent. Swanky new hotel. Got a Grand Opening rate of $199 including breakfast. This was some time ago. We have looked at that hotel recently and the rooms are much more expensive and the hotel can be full on the weekends.
  21. I am planning to visit Baltimore 10/12 - 10/14 and would appreciate any advice. I plan to plan to visit American Visionary Art Museum (near Inner Harbor). I would like to keep my hotel budget to around $75. I have seen only a few reports to the board for Inner Harbor lately, with the 4* hotels around $95. I don't mind 3 star hotels, but the Radisson Lord Baltimore keeps coming up and the reviews of this hotel leave me a little concerned. I don't think I want to take the chance of getting it. I have also considered just bidding for something near the airport. I think the rates may be a little cheaper. I do not plan to rent a car so I would use train/bus to get back and forth to Inner Harbor. Plus I am not so familiar with the area around the airport (hotels). I welcome your suggestions and (Yes) I will use the links for my purchase (and searches).
  22. 3.5* Ventura (Thousand Oaks) Renaissance Agoura Hills $66 ... 7/10 - 7/11 Sorry for the delay in posting. Nice property. Very happy with price. Used link on this site.
  23. We ended up booking a 2 bedroom at the Hilton Hawaiaan Village and paying (gulp) ... retail. The hotel was awesome though. As far as location goes the Ilikai (if the HOTWIRE hotel is the Ilikai) is directly across from Hilton and is in the middle of everything.
