  1. 2* Fairfield Inn Tracy CA $45 7/7-7/10. Tax was $15.92 (not sure of tax rates so don't know how much of an overbid this was). Total $156.87 for three nights.
  2. Bid on Priceline several different areas in ABQ. Started bidding at 2.5 stars and $33.00. Continued bidding until accepted at $42. They did bump to 3*.
  3. Initial bid was for 3* for $60, they countered with adding an additional $17. Lowered to 2.5*, but kept bid at $60 and got Courtyard. I've been bidding MDW hotels every 72 hours for a few weeks. My most recent attempt was 3*- $55 2.5 - $53 2* -$50 1* -$48 without success. Started getting nervous about getting anything Priceline for this trip. Made a backup resv at Holiday Inn Extended Stay for $89.01 per night. This works out after taxes and fees to be $25 cheaper. As well as providing us with the shuttle service that is necessary for this trip.
  4. Hey thanks for the additional information. Looks like it'll work out fine. Probably wont be in the room more than 8 hours anyway. :)
  5. I also bid and won Candlewood Suites for $28. Date is March 21, one night. Bonehead that I am however, didn't check here first, and therefore didn't see your note about the $2 overbid. I will learn. :)
  6. Thanks for the help :) The date we have some flexibility is Mar 21. On March 29 we need a hotel with shuttle return to MDW. Like the train idea, however travelling with 3 kiddos, so am most definately not that brave!! :) I will have to look at Orbitz and Travelocity. Checked Hotwire and got 97.00 for the one near MDW and they only had one hotel come up as available. (3* I believe). Thanks again! Kim
  7. Sorry for confusing title. I am in need of a room one night each on two occasions next month. Have placed many unsuccessful bids on Priceline for the MDW area. Am wondering if anyone knows of another Priceline area that would not be too inconvenient. To explain, we are flying in to MDW for a trip to Michigan. So we will be heading in the NE direction. However, we are meeting family in Chicago first and they actually live W of Chicago in Sugargrove. We would like to travel as minimally out of our way as possible due to our 5 hour drive after this meeting. Any suggestions as to other Priceline areas I can bid and not be too far out? On our return we have actually scheduled our rental car return the evening previous our flight and will have to get a room near MDW that offers shuttle svc to a/p. I imagine I will have to bite the bullet and bid nearer $50 for a 2* that night to get one of those properties. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. :)
  8. Let me preface with I know NOTHING about web sites and making them work. I also agree reviews on the particular hotels would be great. Would it be possible to have live links on the hotel list area, where you would click that particular hotel name link and either add a review or check out previous posters reviews. I'm thinking this would be good, because then when you are in the shopping stage, prior to placing any bids, you would be looking at that list anyway. After winning a bid you can add your hotel to the list, after your stay you can return to the same place to leave your review. Personally, I think if I were to see a particular hotel coming up consistently that is for example a 3*, but offers many immenities important to me, that could impact my likelihood to bid 3* vs going with 4* bid. (I know this sounds awfully wordy, and hope it makes sense).
  9. Got the 4* Renaissance in Cleveland for $50 per night, two nights. Dates were 2/10-2/12/03. I apologize I'm not certain of the bid strategy or prior unaccepted bids as my husband placed this one.
  10. Looks good to me. :) Now, if I only had something valuable to contribute to it right away. :) Thanks for providing this new forum. Looks like you are off to a great start!
  11. I would love to see a place where we could post when we find a great deal. Such as when a website has a glitch and airfares are pricing extremely low, or just the latest fare sale. Also included could be the ability to post if we receive email with valuable discount codes or fare sale information. We could even post codes for discounts on hotels and car rentals. Is something like this do-able? :)
  12. Thank you for your response (and so fast too :) ) We're using MDW as our flyin and out for a trip to Michigan. Staying near the a/p is pretty important on the return, but I like your idea about the Hilton for the start of the trip. I've been studying mapquest and Priceline trying to determine which other areas might be convenient to bid for that first night. We will have a rental car. Seeing as we are heading northeast the next morning, I would not want to go too far out of the way. Would this south Michigan area you referenced be good for us? Can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. The link was great too. The guy sure has a monopoly. :) Thanks! Kim
  13. Thank you for your post and insight into bidding Priceline for MDW. I need a room there two times for one night each next month. Do you have any other suggestions you may be able to add? I've been bidding every few days for a couple weeks. Today, I started at 3* for $50, 2.5* for $46, 2* for $43 and lastly 1* for $41, all without success. Would appreciate any tips anyone might be able to pass on. Thank you. :)
