  1. I just won the Marriott in downtown Winston-Salem for two nights next weekend, June 20-22. The priceline.Express deal being offered was $73. My first bid was $62, and it was rejected. My next bid confirmed at $66/night.
  2. I just booked a Priceline reservation for this weekend in Wilmington, NC. First, I bid $40 for a 3* in Wilmington and was rejected. Next, I bid $30 for a 2* in Wilmington and was rejected. After that, I added the Wrightsville Beach zone and upped the bid $32 for a 2* -- almost exactly 60% off the listed $78 average rate. My reservation was confirmed for the Jameson Inn, which looks to be a few miles from downtown. The cheapest rack rate on their website is $89.99, so this looks to be a very good deal.
  3. Just snagged a great last minute deal for tonight and New Year's Eve in Arlington. This is a very nice hotel, as I've stayed there before. I tried all week at this price point and didn't hit on anything. Finally, today, it came through. It's a block from the Metro stop, so I'll be all set.
  4. I just won a nice deal on Priceline a room for this weekend in Winston-Salem. To start off, I bid $45 for a 3* hotel in the Winston-Salem and Winston-Salem North zones. That was rejected. I followed up with a 2.5* bids in both of those zones. They were also both rejected, but it did offer me a room for $59 in Winston-Salem North; however, I was looking for something cheaper. I submitted a $40 bid for a 2* in the Winston-Salem zone, and it hit. I'm at the Holiday Inn Express (2520 Peters Creek Pkwy., Winston Salem, NC 27127), which looks to be just a short drive outside the central downtown area.
  5. Aaron, any idea about the second paragraph of my post. Have you ever heard of something like that happening before. Seems so strange.
  6. I booked this stay today. I saw the $49 rate from a previous post this month, and I won it on my initial bid. Makes me wonder if they would have gone any lower. Either way, a great deal for my needs. This Sheraton is across the street from the metro station, so it will be perfect for getting to the 9:30 Club on the yellow line this weekend. On an unrelated note, has anyone on these boards ever heard of users basically being blocked from winning bids with their Priceline account? The last few times I've tried to book a hotel deal on a trip, nothing had been hitting on Priceline. I was going above comparable winning bids on this forum and nothing was accepted. Finally, once I bid for this 3.5* Crystal City hotel and it was rejected up to $55, I decided something had to be wrong. Sure enough, I opened a different account, entered in the same credit card, and I won the hotel on a $49 bid ten minutes later. If there's any explanation for this, I'd love to know.
  7. Solid deal. Wish I could get it for both nights that weekend.
  8. Yeah, I've purchased a weekend stay directly through their website for $71 before. It's a nice hotel, but you don't have to bid this much for a weekend stay.
  9. Thanks for the post. I will keep that in mind. I may end up in the Airport zone due simply to price considerations (although I wish there was a way to make sure I could get the Holiday Inn Stadium, because that would be perfect). I booked the Radisson for a special Pearl Jam Ten Club rate of $75/night directly through the hotel.
  10. For $65, I tried 3* and above. Frankly, I'd be okay with a 2* if I could get that for around $55 a night (and I even tried bidding that way). However, from what I gather looking at the hotel list, the Philadelphia Downtown area doesn't have any 2* or 2.5* properties on PRICELINE. Not sure what I should do. I'm going to be in town to see Pearl Jam, and I already have a room at the Radisson for 10/30 and 10/31, but I need a room for these three nights at a good rate!
  11. I have spent the past week bidding up to $65 each day and coming up with nothing. Any suggestions? Do you think I'm likely to hit on a room at this rate or lower as the 27th gets closer? Thanks for any help!
  12. Why was this moved? I'm trying to get my question answered. I don't know that anybody will be looking to assist me in this forum.
  13. First time poster here... Last month (June 14th, to be precise) I was staying in Baltimore for a night. I had initially been looking in for a hotel room two weeks prior to my stay (May 30-31ish). At that time, I entered a $50 bid on Priceline for an Inner Harbor hotel. I started with a 4*, then 3.5*, and finally a 3*. None of these bids were accepted. Now, fast forward to June 13th, the day before I'm driving up to Baltimore. I go through the same bidding process. Low and behold, this time my $50 bid is accepted for a 3* Inner Harbor hotel. I get a room at the Holiday Inn. My question is simply how does this whole process work and, most importantly, is it always most beneficial to wait until the last minute to book a hotel for a trip? Do the hotels have some sort of previously agreed upon timeline for dropping the rates Priceline will pay for a reservation at their hotel? I'm going to need a hotel in Philadelphia for Oct. 30-31, but based on my previous experience, I'm thinking I should wait to book until Oct. 29. Any input or assistance here would be most appreciated. Thanks for reading.
