  1. There are at least 8 3* hotels that have come up in this zone (and none of them bad), so unfortunately there' s no way to guarantee any one. The Marriott Westfields has been coming up a lot lately though, and it looks like their lowest Priceline rate is $55. I don't see where the Hilton has come up for $40 - it's been taking at least $50 for this zone. No harm in trying $40 for the hell of it though, increasing by $5 up to $55 using your 3 free rebid zones - Sterling, Manassas and East Falls Church. Good luck!
  2. You could get the 4*Aladdin for $99/49/49 using the link provided (which could end at any moment). It includes $10 in Free Slot Play with $20 coin-in; 2-4-1 Breakfast Buffet & 2 Free Spa Admissions to Elemis Spa (& fitness center). MGM and Mirage would be $119. (There are MGM/Mirage links in the Travel Links/Support section of this board.)
  3. False alarm...the Aladdin deal is still going but could end at any time.
  4. Here's how you can save up to $150 on your next vacation: * Book your American Airlines flight + hotel together and travel by February 28, 2006. * For a 3-4 night vacation enter promotion code AASAVE75 on the online checkout billing page to get $75 off your vacation.* * For a 5+ night vacation enter promotion code FLYAA150 on the online checkout billing page to get $150 off your vacation.* * Hurry--this sale ends November 10, 2005 Travelocity"]Travelocity
  5. Many Sunday-Thursday dates available in November and December through Travelworm.com. Better to book direct with the hotels though as their best rate guarantees will knock another 5% off + you can cancel up to 3 days prior w/o penalty (whereas Travelworm.com has a $25 cancellation fee).
  6. I should have said it's going to take at least $85 on Priceline. Somewhere in the $85-105 range.
  7. Last call for The Aladdin offer (which actually starts at $49 for some November/December dates), as it ends today.
  8. It's down to $169 now. If you book now and it drops further they would be happy to adjust your rate. You could also continue to try Priceline and cancel the directly booked reservation if you win at a lower rate.
  9. If splitting your bid would be acceptable, perhaps that would help for a good Priceline win. 6 nights in a row in San Diego, particularly if something is going on then, might be a lot to ask for.
  10. The Clinton is available 11/11 for $118 on Easyclicktravel.com in case you still have your eye on that. If you decide to use Priceline, the odds are likely that you'll get the Royal Palm if recent trends are any indication, where I suspect it will take around $85 for a weekend night The Royal Palm charges a $20 "resort fee" whereas I'm fairly sure (although not 100% certain) that the Clinton does not. Then there's the Priceline fee, so EasyClickTravel may be the way to go.
  11. The deal is is back for Tuesdays in November & December except for the last week in each month, and for the moment at least only the Chesterfield. Taxes/fees still running $20+ on a $20 purchase.
  12. Yes, I've been to this place before. What I forgot to say in my review is that the hotel shuttle will also take you into the center of Old Town so that you don't have to make the 15-20 minute hike. With regard to a trolley, I'm unaware of any public trolley service - there is definately not any kind of traditional rail trolley in the area. I do know though that there is a free shuttle running up and down King St. from the Metro to the town center on weekends. The amenities are those described above for the 3*. Unfortunately, the Hotwire price is now showing as $68 and I suspect it could have been gotten on Priceline for perhaps as low as $45. $176 on ichotels.com though so still a nice savings.
  13. The hotel you got is unfortunately not with walking distance to the Metro, although they do have a shuttle that will take you there. Had you tried a 3* bid on Priceline in the Alexandria/Mt. Vernon zone by any chance?
  14. Why not give Priceline a whirl at $70. You could practically use 2.5* and 2* as free rebids given the darth of availability in Jersey City these days.
  15. It's situated like the Hilton Mark Center that the OP doesn't want - not at all withing walking distance.
  16. My guess would be the Best Western, although there's no airport shuttle. I'm wondering if the airport shuttle is a mistake, or the hotel has an arrangement with Super Shuttle or someone with perhaps a discount. It's hard for me to believe there's a 2* in Annapolis with an airport shuttle.
  17. Welcome to BetterBidding! $276 on ichotels.com. Was this your first bid?
  18. Or how about MGM for $69 with a $35 food credit. That would be my choice.
  19. Did you make any 3* bids on Priceline (where the Hyatt is a 3*) I saw elsewhere a recent winning Hyatt bid for that same weekend of $58.
  20. They are now revoking the gold status of anyone who signed up for this who wasn't actually a Citibank Chairman's Card holder.
  21. I wouldn't recommend Silver Spring because it's lumped together in the same zone with College Park. There are two 3*'s that have come up in that zone, and one is the Sheraton College Park, which requires using the hotel shuttle to get to the Metro. In addition, both cities are substantially farther away from DC than either Crystal City and Arlington. In the past I've highly recommended Bethesda, but that was until Priceline combined Bethesda with South Rockville. I should also amend what I said about bidding for a 3* in the Georgetown/Foggy Bottom zone, as I forgot that there's a 3* Marriott located on the campus of Georgetown Univ. that would not at all be convenient to Metro. It very rarely comes up, but is a theoretical possibility.
  22. All the hotels in the Crysal City zone are Metro accessible. The next best zone would be Arlington, where all but one hotel, which rarely comes up, is near a Metro stop (and that one hotel has a Metro shuttle). Those zones would definately not be as pleasant as staying in town, however, with Arlington being somewhat the better of the two. The 2.5*'s in those zones are as good as the 3*'s. You might also try for 3* in the Georgetown/Foggy Bottom zone. The 3*'s that come up there are in the Foggy Bottom/West End part of town and a bit of a hike to the Metro, but they would be a cheap cab ride to one, as well as to Dupont and Georgetown.
  23. The Courtyard by Marriott in Solana Beach is the only 2.5* in the Del Mar zone to have come up, and it's a good one. Free parking and within walking distance to the beach. I've personally taken a look around inside and it get's the TravelGuy seal of approval. :) $50-60 might very well work for that. The local newspaper has an excellent visitor's guide. I particularly like their San Diego neighborhoods.
  24. 4/25/06 is a Tuesday, so you'll qualify for those good weekday rates. I would suggest signing up online to join slot/players clubs. They'll start sending you room offers, which can be quite good, like these recent ones. MGM Players Club. Cesear's Connection Card
  25. ALADDIN $59 Includes: - $10 in Free Slot Play with $20 coin-in - 2-4-1 Breakfast Buffet - 2 Free Spa Admissions to Elemis Spa Call 1-877-WISH (9474) CODE: CEARLY MGM $69 Includes: $35 Dining Credit
