  1. Note: the hotel I got is NOT the "Courtyard Fort Wayne Downtown At Grand Wayne Convention Center." That one is located at 1150 S. Harrison Street. The hotel I got on Priceline is another Courtyard by Marriott location, simply called "Courtyard Fort Wayne", and it's located at 1619 West Washington Center Road. However, the dropdown box above would not let me select it. That's understandable, as both Tripadvisor and the Marriott site itself had a hard time finding it, and both wanted to default to the Downtown location. This is clearly an older hotel that was rebranded as a Courtyard some time in the past few years. I tried 3.5 & 4.0 stars at several price points to no avail, but got this on my first try at 3.0 stars. And yes, I used the PRICELINE link!
  2. Interesting looking hotel... it looks like a few other board members also got this instead of the two Marriotts at the 3.5 star level lately. The hotel recently changed owners and they've been doing a lot of construction/renovation, but it sounds like they will be done by the time I'm there. I had included the Convention Center zone as well, but I'm glad I got downtown instead. And yes, I used the PRICELINE link!
  3. Tried $28 for 2.5 star, $38 for 3 star several times, and $48 for 3.5 star, all refused. Finally got 3 star for $48. Did I use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links from this site to book? You betcha!

  5. Hotwire is listing a 3.5 star hotel in Fort Wayne for $68. I don't see any 3.5 star hotels on the list here, or any reviews of 3.5 star hotels. Any ideas of what that might be?
  6. Note: using both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE, I've always gotten either this hotel or the Hyatt Place. I like the Baymont Inn and Suites Grand Rapids SW/Byron Center, but the Hyatt Place has better rooms. PRICELINE lists the Baymont Inn as 2.5 stars but the Hyatt as 3 stars, while HOTWIRE lists them both at 3 stars. It looked like I could get both for around $60, so I went with Hotwire, hoping to get the Hyatt. Oh well. And yes, I used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links from this site to try both sites.
  7. 3* bid at $69 refused, second bid for $69 for a 2.5* was accepted. Used the PRICELINE links from this forum. Thanks!
  8. This appears to be a rather new property for Hotwire (a previous poster got this for $33, says this hotel wasn't on the list back in January). I usually use Priceline, but had no luck with them this time w/ bids in this range for 2.5 and 3 stars. The facility looks really old (recently purchased by Best Western), but has several 3 star amenities (free wifi, upgraded free breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna).
  9. I've been using the PRICELINE link for the past week or two - Priceline has been recommending $44-$48 per day for an SUV, retail rates have been $90-$110 on Orbitz/Expedia/Travelocity. I've been bidding $29 for SUVs, $21 for all sedans (economy-premium), consistently rejected until today. Hertz's rate right now is $104 per day, $603.80 total, our Priceline total is $200.63.
  10. I tried several bids on economy through midsize in the $12-$16 range over the course of a few weeks, all rejected. The price on other sites (Travelocity, Orbitz, etc.) wasn't going down much, so I put in my first bid of $18 & got accepted. Yes, I used the links from Better Bidding - is there an easier way to find these links than looking in threads? I thought they might be on the home page, but I can't find them.
  11. After using the PRICELINE link from this forum, I've been trying several cars at $9-10. After a failed bid yesterday, I was offered a midsize for $14, which I refused. Finally accepted an economy today at $12, & was then offered an upgrade to a compact for $2 more per day, or intermediate for $3 more, or standard/full size for $5 more. Total with taxes and fees was $136. Priceline says that's a 69% savings based on a "list" price of $447 w/ fees (which match what I saw on Travelocity and National's site).
  12. First bid of $30 was rejected, accepted at $33. And I used the PRICELINE link on this forum.
