  4. thanks - she booked it and it was the hyatt bethesda - i believe the best available was $189 - i provided her with the HOTWIRE link. as always, thank you for your assistance - you run an incredible site!
  5. sorry - i finished the previous thread. thanks for any help you can provide.
  6. sorry never finished this post - ended up doing priceline for about 65 (i can't remeber that far back) and got the westin south coast plaza.
  7. Trying to help my sister-in-law book 2 rooms from 1/21-1/23 - is this the hyatt bethesda for $79? it has fitness center, restaurant, high speed internet, pool and business center. if she wants to try priceline instead, is there only one re-bid zone for a 3*, and what should she start at for a 3* (i'll repost under priceline if i should not combine these questions). thanks in advance.
  8. offered at $124 - Any thoughts on this one - we're debating whether to try priceline or gamble that this is the hyatt irvine - the amenities are: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby It just seems like too good of a deal to be the hyatt - i believe hyatt's best price is $289 - thanks in advance for any ideas.
  9. Bid last night for 1/21-1/22 in MCO zone- started at $35 (why not?) - rejected added a zone - $40 - rejected added a zone - $45 - accepted!! Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.94 Total Charges: $57.94 This should work out nicely since our flight gets in after 11 P.M.! I bid through the Savings Barn link. Thanks again for all the info everyone has provided!
  10. thanks for the response - we decided to try priceline instead - hoping for the hyatt but willing to take what they would give - ended up with the hyatt for 45 + taxes and fees - I'll post as a separate message under priceline wins.
  11. For 1/21-1/22 a hotel with the following amenities shows up for $70: Airport Shuttle Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center High-speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Business Center It seems to be a match for the Hyatt but it says that the retail price is 159 - I can only find the lowest retail price to be 199 - any thoughts on whether this is the Hyatt or something else that now offers high-speed internet? Thanks in advance for your always insightful responses!
  12. does priceline guarantee a company that it in the terminal as opposed to one that you are required to take a shuttle to? thanks.
  13. I started at $60 and added a zone raising the bid $5 at a time until my bid was accepted at $80 for the Renaissance Harborplace. Bid late at night on 8/27. A very nice hotel especially for $80! Your Offer Price: $80.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $160.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $29.46 Total Charges: $189.46
  14. They are doing construction/renovation/something to their pools which will be closed until mid october according to hyatt's website. we were about to stay there for 345 for 4 nights next week - luckily we saw that update before we booked airfare - we've been there before and its a really nice place, but would be upset if the phenominal pools were closed.
  15. thanks to both of you for the explanations! you learn something new here every day!
  16. This is excellent information - but how do you explain this: Taxes on a flight from 8/28-8/31 (dates picked as an example) from: lga to lax is 46.25 (I assume there is a stop) jfk to lax is 25.85 (I assume there is no stop) ewr to lax is 36.05 (I have no idea what to assume!) Thanks in advance for any insights - we may fly to la at the end of the summer and it would be great to know ahead of time what type pf flight we might get if we use priceline!
  17. sorry for not posting a follow-up sooner. change of plans we are leaning towards staying in the ft. lauderdale area (easier to visit relatives nearby). if we end up staying in orlando anyway we will post another follow-up here.
  18. thanks for your response. i used several free re-bids and bid up to $155 with no luck. i know i have a few re-bids left but i have to decide whether i want to spend any more (espcially when there is always a chance it might not even be the same hotel)! i'll let you know what i decide. thanks again for your help.
  19. my wife is a government employee and we are currently holding a government rate at the marriot harbor beach resort for 1/23-1/26 for $137. unfortunately, this great rate is not available for 1/26-27. my questions are: 1) i know things can change all the time, but is this hotel the only "resort" in the ft lauderdale beach area? 2) the lowest rate listed for 1/26-27 on marriot's web site is $399 - is it even possible that they have any priceline rooms available, and 3) if they might have a priceline room available what should i bid if i'm willing to gamble that this hotel will come up? thanks for any thoughts, suggestions etc.!
  20. While downtown is certainly convenient, it still may be a good idea to consider renting a car if you're only bidding on this zone on priceline. for example, i believe a 4* in this zone is the sheraton harbor island, which, while nice (i stayed there a few years ago), is not walking distance to anyhting other than maybe the airport, is nowhere near the trolley, and you would need more than a short taxi ride to get to what is truly "downtown." I agree with bbbb that you might want to consider other zones with 4*s such as san diego coastal- mission bay (sea world, belmont park in this area) and la jolla (probably 15 minutes closer to legoland) are part of this zone and are extremely accessible by car into downtown.
  21. amenities for this 4* hotel in the wdw area for 1/23 - 1/27 are: -restaurant, pool, fitness center, golf nearby, tennis nearby and business center. the price is $185 - any thoughts on what hotel this is? celebration? dolphin? hyatt grand cypress? thanks for any help that can be provided.
  22. When I plug in 1/23/05 to 1/24/05 on wyndham's website it says there is no availability to meet my request but if I request 1/23/05-1/28/05 it brings up a webrate of $233. I'm not trying to avoid the Wyndham - just was curious as to what this means (if anything) for a priceline bid for four nights or less. Thanks for your help! As a general question, this time of year seems to be very expensive for non-disney "resorts" in the disney area but is considered "value" season by disney resorts - why is this?
  23. Does the fact that Priceline lists only certain hotels in their "vacation packages" section mean that these would be the only ones available if I bid in the regular hotels section? For example there are only 22 hotel options for the dates 1/23-27/05 in orlando - would these be the only ones that I could get if I did not use the vacation package section but bid in the hotel section? Also, Wyndam Palace Resorts' website seems to suggest that they only have availability if I reserve 5 nights around that time - does this mean that if I am only bidding for 4 nights I will not get the Wyndham? Thanks for any insights - this site is fantastic! (I apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong place).
