  1. Yes, our plans are set. We are arriving 3/20 and plan on Sea world 3/21. We will check out 3/22 and go to Universal or perhaps LEGO. We would like the nicest hotel possible within a reasonable drive to the Sea World and universal area. A fun pool with a water slide or lazy river would be a bonus. Thank you for your help! We have flexibility. If we can get a better deal bidding on Priceline, that would be great.
  2. Thank you, the Omni looks like a nice option. The lazy river is just a thought. The Omni may be a bit far from Sea World and Universal. What hotels do you like that are a bit closer? Thanks!
  3. A property with a lazy river would also be fun. Thanks again for all of your input.
  4. Thank you! Yes, we will be staying 3/20 and 3/21, checking out 3/22. We have an 8 year old girl. A fun hotel with a water slide would be great. I will check out the hotels that you mentioned. We are also interested in the Dolphin hotel. I'm not sure if that is a Hotwire option for this timeframe. Thanks!
  5. Thanks, I just replied to the CHI thread. We are flexible. I've seen 4 stars from the 70's and up. Course budget is up to 150, but less for a good property is bettering. Thanks!
  6. We ended up staying at the James again for the same rate on Hotwire. It was a great location, and fun time in Chicago!
  7. We are planning a brief get away to Orlando for 2 nights, and 3 nights in the Melbourne area. We will have a rental car. There are lots of 4 star plus hotels on Hotwire. Can anyone recommend a hotel with nice amenities, near Sea World and Universal. Ideally, it would have a nice pool, etc. Our plans are not set. We did Disney last year, and I am thinking Sea World, and either Lego or Universal on Day 2. We will be off to the Melbourne and Vero area after that. I will start another thread for that stay. Thanks
  8. Well, I probably played this bid with my feet. I bid 83 for a 4 star and won on Priceline. It was the omni. It worked out very well. It was half the distance from the stadium compared to the Westin. This worked out well for my mobilly challenged family member. Very nice hotel, and great colts experience.
  9. That is great! I may pull the trigger on the one that looks like the Westin. How low do you think that I could bid if I wanted a downtown 4 star? Thanks!
  10. I am planning on staying one night in Indianapolis this weekend - Sunday 9/11, and checking out 9/12. Ideally, I would like to get the Westin due to the proximity to Lucas Oil Stadium. Priceline has the Westin for $138. However, I am trying to determine if the Priceline Express, and Hotwire listings for those dates are a match for the Westin. PRICELINE EXPRESS - $84, 4 Star, Amenities - Pets allowed, Business Center, Restaurant, Indoor / Outdoor Pool, Fitness Center, no smoking HOTWIRE - $101, 4 star, Business center Fitness center Indoor pool(s) Internet access Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Smoke-free rooms Spa services Thanks for your help trying to pinpoint the hotels, and for any suggestions. I have also considered bidding on at the 4 star level on Priceline if I can save money, and still get a good hotel.
  11. Sorry for the confusion on the edited post. I posted a question to the board, and then found out I could add a night to my initial reservation. Thanks again!
  12. I was able to add a night through my existing reservation. <<I'm trying to add one more night at the James on 8/29 - River North Chicago. Is this amenity at $96 likely the James? boutique hotel Business center Fitness center Pet friendly Restaurant(s) Spa services Accessibility>>
  13. I pulled the trigger on the James for $107 and posted the hotwire hotel results. It had the same amenities that you mentioned. Thanks! I'm looking for a hotel for one night on 8/25. What do you suggest close to the Magnificent mile, perhaps trying the Water tower area? I could go up to $160 on the budget.
  14. I just won The James for $107. I'm excited to check out the hotel, and it's proximity to things. Amenities are listed below, and thank you for all of your help! Amenities: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Spa services, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower.
  15. I haven't been to MSI in years either. I'm just reminiscing, and I think my child will like it too. If we also stay on the first night, 8/29. Any recommendations in the same price range? The thought is we could take transit in to downtown, and return on 8/30 to MDW to pick up a rental. That could elinate the driving / parking downtown. Thanks!
  16. Thank you, I will let you know how it goes. My thought is to go to MSI on the way in to town when it opens. A few hours at a museum is usually enough for a 7 year old, and that would give us a the bulk of Monday and Tuesday downtown. I appreciate your help narrowing down the hotel selections.
  17. OK, I have finally narrowed down our trip. The plan is to stay in Chicago one night on 8/29. I would like 4 star or better, and the max budget is 140. What are the best options in areas close to the Magnificent mile? I'm planning on renting a car for the earlier portion of the trip. Should I drop this off at MDW, and take the Orange line into our hotel. Or is parking for one night a simpler option? I would like to visit the MSI on Monday, and do the architectural boat tour on Monday. On Tuesday, go to the Field Museum before heading to the airport. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
  18. Wow! Thank you for the suggestions. The Hyatt is interesting at that price. Is the hotel Chicago a good place to stay? I'd like to stay at 4 star .
  19. I'm thinking max of $140 a night. I would like to go to the Field museum, and take the architectural tour. So, something that is reasonably close.
  20. Unfortunately, there is not a metro stop near my family. The live on an inland lake. So, a rental is the only option. For tourist attractions, is the Navy pier Hyatt a good hotel to target on Hotwire?
  21. Thank you for your reply. Right now, I am not firm in my plans to stay 2 nights at the beginning of the trip - 8/24-8/26. I am just trying to get a feel for the costs - rental car, hotel, and parking. After that, I'll make a decision, and may scale it back to just one night. Our plane departure is scheduled for 8/30, So staying in Chicago 8/29 is also a possibility. I'm not concerned about booking for double occupancy, if that is better. I have been entering 2 adults and 1 child for my Hotwire searches. That is a good suggestion on the Blueline. My only concern is getting to the hotel at a reasonable bed time. Our flight gets in at 8 pm on 8/29, and I thought it would be quicker with a car rental.
  22. Thank you for letting me know. I apologize for the delay, and the report is up now.
  23. Thank you again for all of the great input on our Disney trip. We ended up booking our stay at the Disney Polynesian. As luck would have it, we were able to get a good deal using American Airlines points. The hotel was very nice for our visit. It was great to stay at one of the resorts on the monorail. This allowed us to easily come back to our hotel for a mid day pool break. Disney sure has it figured out. My wife was luke warm about the trip beforehand, and practically ready to sign up for the Disney vacation club. That won't happen, but we look forward to going back again in a couple of years.
  24. We are flying into MDW on 8/24, and considering spending 2 nights in Chicago. The current plan is to rent a car, because we will need it for our weekend trip to visit family. We would like to go to the Field Museum, do the architectural tour, and perhaps visit Navy Pier. What zones would you recommend? I see that South Loop/McCormick place has a 4 star for $87. There are also a handful of 4.5 star hotels in the Water Tower zone that are reasonable in the $130 range. Thank you in advance for your input. Factoring in parking, etc., I am just trying to narrow things down, and make a good zone selection. We will be traveling with a 7 year old child. Thanks
  25. Thank you to my helpful advisors. Can you give me the name of Disney on or off property hotels that you have stayed at and been happy with?
