  1. Pacific Beach Hotel!! I really appreciate your bidding help, but I decided to go for the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal. 3½ Star Hotel in Waikiki Beach Area for $174/night Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center Taxes & Fees: $104.25 Total Priceline Charges: $626.25 Additional Mandatory Fee: $60.00 This hotel fee is charged by property at checkout. Thanks!
  2. My travel dates for Oahu- Waikiki Beach are 8/11-8/14. I apologize for the confusion, I have another trip on those dates and mixed up the two. I wish I was going to be in Hawaii for a whole week!!
  3. I ended up having to cancel this trip. I apologize for not updating you guys, and sadly, I have no win to share!
  4. I forgot all about this! Sorry.... Amenities: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Bid $104 Total $126.90
  5. Used the HOTWIRE links to find a room in the Philadelphia area for one night. Free parking, free breakfast, free internet, self service laundry, internet access. $53. plus taxes and fees for a total of $62.87
  6. Hi! I used the Priceline links to search for a room in Hawaii- Oahu, Waikiki Beach area. My travel dates are 8/4 to 8/11 (3 nights). The express deals offers $144 for a hotel. Business Center, Restaurant, Free Internet, Pool. I didn't see a resort fee, so I'm not sure if Beachcomber or Aston. Any guesses? I have a bit of time so I think I'll bid for a few days on a 4 star first. I haven't seen a lot of wins on here for this area so I'm not sure where to start. Was thinking $120 but I don't want to go to low or overbid either. I'd also be willing to take a 3 star of course, but there are quite a few hotels and I haven't researched all of them yet. If I'm unlucky and get up to $144 with the 4 stars, I'll check out the 3s and maybe start bidding again. Any suggestions for a bidding strategy: Beach area only. for the 4 star first. Thanks!
  7. Used PRICELINE link and started out with $80. Then bid 10 less than the express deal. Accepted $174.00 Taxes & Fees: $35.60 Total Charged Today: $209.60 This hotel looks really nice. I like Palomar but I'm looking forward to staying here, although, I hope I don't have the same experience as I did at Affinia (I'm pretty sure I shared that win): gave me the smallest, oldest, farthest room possible. Was a little disappointed. I don't use Hotwire because this always happens (one hotel clerk said Hotwire selects the lowest room choice, whereas Priceline selects the standard room choice).Any ideas how to prevent being treated like a second class citizen? Thanks!
  8. Used the Priceline links and bid on 1 room, 12/11/14-12/13/14: $90 (Started here because I misread in another post a winning bid for $99)... Midtown West. Rejected. $94. Added Midtown East. Rejected. $99. That was going to be my limit, but I was comfortable going up because I realized I started a bit low. Added Times Square. Rejected. $104. Added Madison Square Garden. Rejected. $109. Added Coney Island for free rebid zone. Accepted. $139.56 after taxes and fees. Been to this place a few times and it's really nice so I am happy. Thanks!!!
  9. Used the HOTWIRE links and found one room that might work as I am attending a conference at Drexel and would like to be in university city: Center city west/ university city area boutique 4/17/14-4/18/14 $109 Amenities: Boutique, non smoking, fitness center, restaurant, business, laundry, hi speed internet. Accessibility Features: Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf I didn't see any hotels matching this one on the list, namely because it's listed as "boutique" Ay ideas?
  10. Did some research here on better bidding and decided to start with $76 for a room on 4/17-4/18 in Philadelphia- university city (only wanted this area bc I am attending a conference at Drexel). Used the PRICELINE.com links posted and... $76, rejected. $82, rejected. $88, rejected. $96, rejected! $96 with taxes and fees minus 7% using coupon code was about $110- which is a dollar more than hotwire is offering a 4 star hotel. There are reasons I didn't just go ahead and book with hotwire:: 1, based on my previous experience, rooms booked through hotwire are lower quality e.g. poor/no view, undesirable location (like at the end of a looong hallway or in front of an elevator which gets really noisy), smaller than other standard rooms. This can be sometimes remedied if you complain to the desk but I've never had this problem with priceline, even gotten really nice rooms a few times. 2, hotwire has a room for a hotel that I wasn't able to identify, I will post and ask for help in the hotwire section.
  11. I'd prefer to try Resort on Priceline. Thanks! Thanks! I think I'll be satisfied no matter what I get based on the reviews and bc I've never been so my expectations aren't high anyway!
  12. Any strategy for bidding on PRICELINE? Of course I'd like to stay under $150 otherwise I can take my chances on HOTWIRE. Thanks for your help.
  13. PRICELINE has all the star-ratings with All-Inclusive. Maybe I can get a better deal here. Do you have any idea what can be expected of the 3+ star? resort?
  14. Hi! I'm planning a trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica for the end of the month preferably 5/31-6/4 (but any 4 nights btw 5/22 and 6/5 will do). I used the HOTWIRE link to search for the ideal dates and came up with 2 all inclusives. 3-star $150 Amenities: Resort Complimentary Breakfast Beachfront Property Food and Beverages Included A la Carte Dining Options Evening Entertainment Included Daily Activities Included Children's Activity Program Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Tennis Nearby All-Inclusive 3.5 Star $149 Resort Free Parking Complimentary Breakfast Beachfront Property Food and Beverages Included A la Carte Dining Options Water Sports/Ocean Activities Included Evening Entertainment Included Rates include evening entertainment, such as theme nights, shows and music. Daily Activities Included Children's Activity Program Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby All-Inclusive any ideas? I'm thinking Holiday Inn SunSpree will be one, I just dont know which... And what could the other be? I'll be checking priceline (using the links of course) to see if any hotels are cheap enough that I'll use what I save on food and drinks. Thanks
  15. Hello again, I needed some more rooms for a few family members also attending the weeding and I got another GREAT deal- same hotel, Sheraton Nassau Beach... $110 a night (that's less than I paid the first time) 2 rooms for 4/22-4/24 Here are the details... Zone: Nassau and Paradise Island area Stars: 4 Amenities: Resort, Beach Front, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-Speed Internet Access These additional amenities show up once you select the hotel, not on the initial search screen *Golf Nearby, Spa Services, Children's Activity Program Searched/Purchased using: the betterbidding HOTWIRE link, of course! And, by the way, in a previous post, I asked if Hotwire allowed you to add a night after purchase like Priceline... well I see that it does, upon completion of the transaction, on the page with the confirmation code. "If your travel plans change, you may add to your stay at this hotel." You are then able to add nights before and after your trip, and also add a room. I tried this at first, but the room rate was $113, so I saved my $6.
  16. Yey! another great hotel... going to a wedding at Sheraton Nassau Beach so I checked the hotel list, used the HOTWIRE link and hoped for the best... and Won!! Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort 4/22-4/25 Zone: Nassau and Paradise Island area Stars: 4 Amenities: Resort, Beach Front, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-Speed Internet, Golf Nearby, Spa Services, Children's Activity Program
  17. used the HOTWIRE links of course... Le Meridien $113 Nice! Zone: Philadelphia Center City East Stars: 4 Amenities: Bed Choice, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access Thanks for the help today!
  18. Hilton Garden Inn $81 3/24-3/25 Zone: Philadelphia Center City East Stars: 3 Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access May wait a little while to get the other room for this same day because the 4* w/ spa is gone, now it's 4* non-smoking. This amenity set matches Le Meridien.
  19. Wow! To my surprise, I got the Loews for 3/25-3/26 $104 Zone: Philadelphia Center City East Stars: 4 Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access Used your HOTWIRE links. Buying other rooms now...
  20. Yes, I checked the hotel list for matches, of the 4 hotels I mentioned, 3 were easily matched on the list as I asked about in the previous post, but there is no 3.5 star. However, that hotel is gone now. We are going to take our chances hoping for Loews, Doubletree/Hilton Garden & Le Meridien. Thanks
  21. Okay great. I'd like to determine the hotels available for both days. To clarify my travel plans: My sister and I are going to Philadelphia on the same day for an event, she is leaving on Friday, and I hope to stay until Saturday. This is why I have been searching for different dates. We have no issue staying at different hotels and I am willing to switch hotels for Friday night. Is it safe to assume that the 4* for 3/24-3/25 is Loews and the 3* either the Hilton Garden Inn or the Doubletree? What about the 3.5*? and the 3/25-3/26 4* would be Le Meridien? Will probably book both rooms this evening. Thanks
  22. Morning, I started my search again today (using the links, of course!), and I figured out why I've been getting different prices and different hotels- sometimes I search 3/24-3/25 and sometimes I search 3/24-3/26 (because my plans are flexible). For the longer trip, I see the hotels/amenities I mentioned; for the shorter trip I see a few others- 4* fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet , spa. 3* fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet. and 3.5* fitness, restaurant, laundry, internet. On PRICELINE, once a bid is accepted, there is the option to add extra nights for the same price- is this not possible with HOTWIRE?
  23. Correction: 3.5 STARS!!! Resort, Beachfront, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Hi Speed Internet
