  1. Sorry to hear that they have you too peterjlee. First off, I wanted to tell you that you don't have to knock yourself for missing the listing including the airport shuttle. Typically you wouldn't need a shuttle when the hotel is located at the airport, but with the two terminals being separated by quite a distance, a shuttle is necessary if you were flying out of the other terminal. Secondly, I hope you were not as disappointed as I was with my stay. There is no way this could every be considered a 4* hotel. I pulled back my sheets to find a couple of bugs in the bed, the sheets were all put on inside out, the battery was falling out of the alarm clock because it was missing the piece on the bottom, and there was a hole in the bathroom door. Their "business center" shared the space with the microwave, with the printer sitting on top of the microwave. There isn't even a place to sit down when you are using the computer! Very disappointing for a Marriott property! The good news is that the hotel manager responding quickly and adequately to the email I sent him with my concerns regarding the property. Now if only Hotwire would change this incorrectly categorized hotel. I am still waiting for this to happen......I could be waiting a very, very long time! :(
  2. I want to WARN everyone that Hotwire has made this a 4* hotel!! Not only that, they advertised it as a $265 room for 75% off. Not surprisingly, this is exactly the price of the only true 4* at DTW- The Westin! The Marriott is only $149/night.... 75% off would have made it only $37.25! I am deeply disappointed that Hotwire would so deceptively advertise a $149 hotel as being a $265 hotel. I was sure it was a computer glitch, but after talking to a Hotwire supervisor, he very inadequately tried to explain to me that the $265 price was the median price for all the 4* hotels in that area. I calmly tried to explain to him that there are NO hotels in the area that cost more that $265! How could you add $149 and $265 and come out with a median of $265? Sorry, that just does not add up...no way, no how! If I hadn't been booking a room in haste at 4 a.m. I would have remembered to go through your link. I apologize! I also, would have caught the free parking on the amenities list. This is the tip off that it is not the Westin. However, we all know that there is only one 4* at DTW....The Westin... so I didn't feel a need to search that out carefully. Now I know better! Hotwire not only inflates * levels-something we have known for a long time, but they also are deceptively putting on incorrect slashed through hotel prices and percentage discounts. Hotwire buyer beware! Thanks for letting me vent and warn other betterbidding readers. Please make the change on your hotel list. Here are the amenities that were listed: Amenities: Free parking, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Airport shuttle, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower1 night Hotwire Hot Rate Room@ $67.00/night $67.00 Tax recovery charges & fees $16.18 Subtotal $83.18 Hotwire Total $83.18 Shame on you Hotwire. Your deceptioh has cost you a long time customer!
  3. I know this was months ago, but out of curiosity, how did you get a $20 coupon that was good for a one night stay??? I want one of those!! :)
  4. First bid of $40 rejected, added Southgate and tried $45. rejected-no counter offer. Decided to bid $48 by adding Dearborn, as we are going to Greenfield Village the next morning and the Doubletree would have been fine. Success with hitting the Embassy Suites! We'll be flying in too late for the manager's reception, but will enjoy the cooked to order breakfast. HOTWIRE had this hotel for $63 for this date. Used your PRICELINE link :)
  5. I was sure that I was purchasing the Crowne Plaza Sawgrass and was shocked when this hotel showed up instead. This was listed under the 3 * category. The details matched the Crowne Plaza so this was an unpleasant surprise. The location isn't what I had hoped for and the reviews aren't the greatest....time will tell. I'm sorry that I forgot to use your link, but I thought it was important to let you know that HOTWIRE now considers this property to be a 3.5 *. Cost of room was $65 plus fees =$77.78 which is better than the $100 on their website. :)
  6. Unbelievable! Just a few hours after I booked this hotel they rescheduled the shuttle launch! I knew it was likely that this would happen, but I sure didn't expect it to change that soon after I booked. Oh well, we will just have to veg out on the beach! :)
  7. Used all extra rebids and finally landed the Radisson I Drive for $22 plus $10 per night coupon for $32/night plus fees. I hoping this property is not as disappointing as the Radisson Inn Celebration was that we stayed at last November. We'll be hoping for the best...I sure can't complain about the price for this hotel!
  8. After lots of bidding and rebidding, I received the Doubletree at Cocoa Beach. I was expecting the Hilton as the Doubletree is listed on your hotel list as a 2.5 *. I used a $10 a night coupon so for the 2 nights, my cost is only $122.42 with taxes and fees. Not bad for 2 nights in an oceanfront hotel! It will be even better if the shuttle launches on its scheduled date....that would be fantastic! :) I believe I used your site for all my bidding. Please edit the title to include the hotel name of Doubletree Hotel Cocoa Beach-Oceanfront. I couldn't figure out how to edit it myself. Thanks!
  9. Unfortunately the $50 is not valid on resort properties. It only works up to a 4 *. If you put in your bid and resort along with the coupon it will tell you that. I already tried it. :)
  10. I was very pleased to get a rate of $90/night for high season. Last year in February bid rate was $129. A great deal was even better because I had a $20/night coupon from a previous promotion. My cost: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $70.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $140.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $32.56 (USD) Total Room Cost: $172.56 (USD) Lowest current rate for my dates is $229/night! We sure will enjoy our Valentine's Day at this great resort! :) I had attempted to bid at $80-rejected, $85-rejected, $87-rejected, and $89-rejected before the $90 bid was accepted. I used your PRICELINE link for most of the bids, but unfortunately I failed to do it on the winning bid. Sorry! I wanted to pass this info along for anyone who is hesitant to bid this far out....Go for it!!
  11. :) I used the PRICELINE link to bid $32 for a 2.5*in Ft. Lauderdale North region, PL rejected but countered with an add $8 offer. I rejected the offer, raised to $34 and added free rebid zone of Airport North. I was very amazed and pleased with the double upgrade to a 3.5* Marriott Ft Lauderdale North 6650 North Andrews Avenue Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309 954-771-0440 Check-In: Friday, May 22, 2009-03:00 PM Check-Out: Saturday, May 23, 2009-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $34.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $34.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $11.16 (USD) Total Room Cost: $45.16 (USD) This is a great site and I appreciate all the direction that it gives!
