Opened with $100 based on the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.
It countered with $115. I declined, and selected a non 4 star zone, and went to $105.

I used the zone rebid strategy.
Started at $50 looking for a 4* hotel downtown. Was going up in $5 increments
Got up to $90 and bid $100. Failed. Next bid $110 and won the bid.

Rather disappointed. Total price was $111.32 vs. $115 (tax included) on Hotels.com.
I would have used PRICELINE, but I have 3 adults :)

Took a look at the zones to figure out my free bid opportunities. Much to my surprise, there were a ton for a 4* in south beach.
I began with Central SB, added Collins ave SB, and finally Ocean Drive SB. After that, I just added in the free bids. Made for a quick win.

I am very, very happy.
I bought some nights at the Westin via HOTWIRE, first. When I could not get all of my nights there, I decided to try priceline, as I did not really care where in particular I ended up.
My hotwire was $229 a night, so I was going to instinctively bid $200 via priceline.
I am glad I checked the bidding history here first! Saved at least $80 a night by doing so!
