  1. Thanks. I know it's been awhile, but I'm still looking; I had to wait for our plans to finalize. I need to find a hotel room for 4 with shuttle service to BWI for two separate nights: Checking in on July 24 (out on the 25th) and checking in on July 28 (out on the 29th). I know at one point, there was a way to find more amenities than Hotwire actually lists; can you remind me how to do this (or let me know if it's not available)? Thanks... and I'll follow up, and use the better bidding links!
  2. I am looking for a hotel near BWI (Baltimore airport) with airport shuttle service and breakfast for one night in July (7/24) for 4 adults. If the price is right, I could book 2 rooms instead of just one. This came up- Area: BWI Airport- BWI North and East. 2.5*, $64 a night, 80% recommended (TripAdvisor rating 3.5*). FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Airport shuttle, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, In-room accessibility. Any idea what hotel this might be? I thought the "boutique hotel" amenity would help with ID but didn't see anything like this on the lists. I think this is a pretty good price and it's only for 1 night before heading to DC for the next 4 nights, so I might go ahead and book BUT if you have any clue as to the property identity, that'd help me make my decision! Thanks!
  3. I followed up the Portland search from several years ago- sorry about that. I am going to keep my existing reservation at the Kimpton Madera in Dupont Circle. I made it ages ago on a "buy 2 get 1 free" sale, so the rate is $172 a night for six night. Stalking Hotwire this week hasn't brought up anything compelling, so I'll keep my existing reservation. Thanks with your help with this, though. WHAT NEXT? I'm off to stalk rates for 2 night in Manhattan in September for 4 people- we're going to see Paul McCartney!! (Mother's Day gift from my daughter!!!)
  4. If I recall correctly, we didn't get a hotel at all for this trip; I just sucked it up and drove home from the airport. It's a 2+ hour drive and I take motion sickness pills to fly, so I always consider staying over rather than driving home. OH well... ancient history now!
  5. Hi! This is a continuation on a search I abandoned several months ago (I felt it was too early to search/buy). I need help identifying the following hotel: Check in 7/19/17, check out 7/25/17 2 adults 3.5* Dupont/Embassy Row hotel, $127 a night Amenities: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower I currently hold a reservation at the Kimpton Madera for $172 a night (including taxes and fees, king deluxe with sofa and balcony). If this Hotwire bid is a good price/hotel, I could save $270, so it's worth looking into. Also, if you have any opinion of Madera vs. whatever this hotel might be, I'd be interested in hearing it! Thanks for your help.
  6. I think I am going to sit tight for awhile and bid closer to my travel dates. I have found what I thought was a good offer on the Omni Shoreham only to find from this board that last summer (2016) on our travel dates, there was a winning bid on HOTWIRE for the Omni for about $77; that's half of what I am finding. This is a trip where we are doing 2 or 3 nights in each of 4 cities so I'm going to HOTWIRE them all closer to the dates. I figure that even if it's a less than desirable room, it'll only be for a few nights before moving on. I'll make sure to do my bidding through your site's links. Thanks for all your help- I'll post winning bids when I do decided to bid.
  7. Thank you- and thanks for the info about MAPS and HOTELS.com! Also- email is changed, sorry about that!
  8. Just came across this... Four star North Georgetown/Foggy Bottom July 19-22, 2017 $104 per night Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower I don't even have a guess. On the Hotel List, the highest rating for NG/FB is three stars. If this is a location (interesting restaurants, metro stop within walking distance), I think I'll jump on it! Thanks for you help... again...!
  9. Thanks, Aaron, for your quick reply! I am not terribly familiar with the DC neighborhoods. It's just my husband and me traveling. I'd like to find an area with restaurants and shops, easy access to the metro system, not terribly far out of the mall area (although we wouldn't need to walk to the mall). Our travel plans include visiting the Viet Nam and Korean War Memorials, Lincoln Memorial, Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, maybe one of the Smithsonian museums. We aren't "shoppers" but we enjoy ethnic restaurants, coffee shops, boutique shops, etc. I have stayed at the Kimpton "George" hotel down near the Capitol. It was a nice hotel, but the neighborhood is a little "barren" as far as restaurants, coffee shops, etc., are concerned. I'd like to keep the cost under $140 a night (including tax), if possible, and probably 3 stars or better; I'd do 2.5 stars if the place has consistently good reviews. I've been looking at Embassy Row/Dupont Circle, further out than that (someone suggested the Omni Shorham), Capitol area (The Liaison?), White House area, Mall area, maybe Crystal City or Foggy Bottom... but I am not sure how easy it'll be to access the mall area from some of these locations. This stay in DC is part of a loop trip- flying into BWI, visit DC and Williamsburg, then going from BWI to MCO to visit friends in Cocoa Beach (I'll hotwire there, too!), then MCO home to BOS. Thanks again for your reply and offer of help!
  10. Three and a half stars, Washington, DC- Dupont/Embassy Row, July 19-22, 2017, $113 Full Amenities listed: Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower Would this be the Churchill? I am looking for a hotel in an area with restaurants, shops, and metro within walking distance. Don't really know too much about this area of DC.
  11. Thanks for your input. Decided not to bid when my van ended up needing a complete brake job, front and rear, to pass inspection, but wanted to close out this thread. Thanks!
  12. Hi- I used your site to start my Hotwire search and came up with the following for our trip to Disney 7/24/13-8/2/13: Downtown Disney Condo, 90% recommended, over 200 reviews, Hotwire price $53 a night Resort Free Parking Studio A/C Children's program Fitness center Pool/s Business Center 24 hour front desk High speed internet tennis nearby kitchenette Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility accessible bathroom handicapped parking condo If I had to guess, I'd think it was Grande Villas Resort, but don't know what else is in the area that might be very similar. Thanks for your help!
  13. I know you take your chances with PRICELINE. I have used them a LOT for hotels and airfare, and have never been disappointed. I am sure this'll be fine... just was hoping for Embassy Suites; love to stay there and usually cannot afford it. This is a Marriott, it has a great pool, free parking, free internet, in-house bar (YAY as I am usually the designated driver), work out room, etc. We will be fine, and with a little digging I have discovered that I am saving money over anything else I looked at (hotwire, online sites, etc)... and isn't that the point of PRICELINE, to save money or get better accommodations than you can afford? We'll be fine!
  14. Just got the Detroit Airport Marriott for one night, $51. With tax/fees this comes to $65.24 I am a little disappointed as I was hoping for/expecting Embassy Suites. I think I should have checked online availability before bidding. We need to be downtown at 3pm on the 5th and again at 10am on the 6th. Dearborn would have been closer but really was hoping for Embassy Suites (based on wins here, and thinking our daughter might join us for the night). Oh well... rolled the dice and gambled on ES, lost this time but still got a great room for a great price! Here's the history: bid $45, Airport... rejected added Allen Park, bid $48... rejected added Taylor, bid $51... won OK, I'm off to check the Marriott Airport website and psych myself up about this. Of course I used the BB PRICELINE link to place my bid! ETA: Erg... TripAdvisor isn't very encouraging, they say it's a pretty old facility with inattentive staff. Oh well... saved $10 off a blind Hotwire bid for same star level/location, and $22 off the best eligible rate I found online (AAA at marriott.com). It's only one night...
  15. Thanks for your insight. I wouldn't have thought of this property, as I don't consider any HoJo's to be a 3* property (although they ARE on the list). TripAdvisor gives it pretty good reviews but several refer to the ancient, stale cigarette smell in the rooms, even though the property is now non-smoking. My daughter and I are both very allergic to smoke, so I won't take a chance on this property. When I DO choose to book, I will use the hotel links through your site. It's well worth the effort, which is minimal, to keep BB up and running. Thanks for your help!
  16. This morning, what appears to be the same property shows up as 3*, $81+ a night for three (3 adults), 70% satisfaction rating. Here is the full amenities list: 3-star Hotel in Portland: This Hotel features the following amenities: Free Parking Free Internet Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Fitness Center. Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  17. SO... if I book my hotel rooms directly with the hotel, but go through BB like I would for Hotwire or Priceline, you guys get credit or something, and it'll help keep your website going? I'd be happy to do this, but didn't know it was possible for anything other than HW and PL. Good to know!
  18. Looking for accommodations in Portland, ME, three adults, 7/10/13-7/11/13. Hotwire came up with a 3* hotel, $81 plus tax a night, recommended by 75% of hotwire customers. Amenities include free parking, free internet, pet friendly, indoor pool, airport shuttle, on-site restaurant, fitness center, guest laundry, business center, as well as all the ADA accessibility info. Any ideas on what property this might be? This is a great price for Portland in July, but the 75% satisfaction rating makes me nervous! (and I promise to follow up this time!)
  19. Sorry I didn't follow up on this; I hate when I ask for help from you guys, you are helpful, and then I don't uphold my end of the bargain! We had five traveling so needed a suite type arrangement or two rooms, so I looked for outright rentals instead of a bidding (hotwire/priceline) situation. We ended up staying at the Holiday Inn Express/Suites at Sable Oaks in South Portland. I was able to get a $75 rebate on the room through the parent organization. The suite, with the rebate, made for a convenient and affordable location. Once again, sorry I didn't follow up sooner.
  20. Check in July 4, 2013 Check out July 5, 2013 One night, two adults $67 winning bid, $81 with taxes I'm very pleased with this win. Rates over the holiday were not terrific- online at the hotel wedsite was $125 with tax.
  21. Based on this thread, when the same amenities came up on my search for a Dayton area hotel, i booked and sure enough, it's the Wingate by Windham Dayton/Fairborn. Hotwire price was $67, so it's almost $81 with taxes. We are happy! The 95% customer satisfaction rating, combined with this thread, gave me the confidence to do the booking. Thanks for your help by keeping threads open and posting follow-ups!
  22. I was having problems finding a decent hotel/rate for this area due to leaf-peeping season, Columbus Day weekend, and college break. Even the TravelLodge we $72. With tax this came to $93. I'm pleased!
  23. I didn't make this purchase as I'm still not sure how many will be with us. Thanks for the insight on the possible ID of this property. I'll post back if I end up making this purchase in the future... and I always try to remember to use your links for HOTWIRE / PRICELINE.
  24. Hi- Looking for 3 nights in Portland, Aug 3-6, 2012. I have found a 2.5* on Hotwire, recommended by 85% of Hotwire customers. amenities include free parking, complimentary breakfast, airport shuttle, and a drop-down also lists fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry facilities (self-serve). Anyhelp would be appreciated. We live 2 hours away, sister lives an hour away, so it's killing me to pay summer prices in Portland but we HAVE to be there and the travel from home/sister's daily would be too much
