  1. thanks. decided to try bidding as I was ideally hoping for something around $70. started at $60 for a 2.5 star in Gananoque (ideally where we want to be) - which was rejected, added in Pittsburgh at $62 and still rejected, added in Elizabethtown at $64 and rejected again. according to all I've read on priceline bidding, free rebids by adding in other areas etc that's all I can do for today now. will try again tomorrow with the same 3 strategies at $66, then $68, then $70. hopefully by $70 I'll have something accepted, if not I'll keep increasing day by day. though once I hit the $70's I'm not far off the $82 on Priceline Express. so I guess at this point I may just buy this in case it goes up. thanks again for all the help
  2. $50 per room. 2 rooms booked. Total £122 including taxes and fees. 1 night June 22nd. amenities listed are Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Airport Shuttle Business Center Self service laundry Internet access We only wanted a cheap motel as we'll have driven 5.5 hours from Boston, and we'll have a 5 hour drive the next day to Algonquin National Park. So for $50 per room this is fine for our needs.
  3. thanks for your great reply. one more quick question - if I decide to bid for a hotel on priceline instead, can I bid for 2 rooms? I've not used this before and so I'm unsure if I'll be able to do this thanks again
  4. Hi No, I'm looking for 2 rooms to house the 3 adults, not 1. Sorry if that wasn't clear!
  5. Hi, Thinking of trying PRICELINE EXPRESS for the first time, never used it before, but I've been happy enough with HOTWIRE. 2.5 star Kingston, Ontario 1 night - June 25th, 2 rooms, 3 adults, 2 in one room - 1 in the other $97 amenities listed free breakfast free internet pool free parking business center fitness center I'm thinking, and hoping, for the Holiday Inn Express? there's also a 3 star for $99 with free breakfast free internet pool free parking restaurant business center fitness center maybe the Best Western? Oh and also there used to be a code on here for an extra 5% off priceline express deals. I think it was Spring14. I've tried this and it doesn't work. Was this the code? Has it expired? If so, is there another.....??!! I clicked on the PRICELINE link on the site to get my quotes, and I'll do the same if I book. oh and finally one more!! same night, same rooms etc, but in Gananoque $83 2 star with free internet pool pet friendly restaurant near casino bed choice I'm thinking the Ramada? I've also seen what I think is the Ramada on Hot.wire for $87 Many Thanks for your help europe-chick
  6. thanks for the help. we've actually changed our road trip route now, and so don't need a hotel in Syracuse after all as we won't be passing through. many thanks again though.
  7. Date = June 22nd for 1 night. 2 rooms - 1st room 2 adults, 2nd room 1 adult. Central Syracuse. There's a 3 star for $114. 85% customer recommended. Amenities listed are: Free ParkingFree BreakfastFree InternetPet friendlyBoutique HotelAirport ShuttleFitness CenterBusiness CenterSelf service laundryInternet accessI wonder if this is the Parkview, as Boutique hotel is listed under amenities. The free breakfast is throwing me though? There's also a 3.5 star listed for $115. 90% customer recommended. Amenities listed are: Free ParkingFree InternetPet friendlyAirport ShuttleSmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterInternet accessI wonder if this is the Crowne Plaza. I want Central Syracuse, it has to have free parking, and I'm really hoping for something that happens to be within walking distance of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que! Thanks for any help with id'ing these. I'll be back with other queries as I've got 2 weeks in New England to fill, and it looks like I'll struggle with my $100 a night budget per room (before taxes and fees) unless I take a chance most nights with Hotwire. Maybe Priceline too? not used Priceline before, but happy enough to give it a go. Thanks for all your previous help too, and just to let you know I did click on your HOTWIRE link to search, and I will do to book as well.
  8. I didn't realise it was a former W hotel, that's interesting. Thanks for that info. I am sooooooooo looking forward to our trip!
  9. Hi, finally booked. I clicked on your HOTWIRE link to book. changed our dates too, we're staying an extra night in NY now. so check in Weds Feb 12th for 5 nights. 2 adults 4* Empire State Building Area hotel $128 per night amenities are: free internet pet friendly fitness center restaurant(s) business center self service laundry internet access We got St Giles - The Court New York I'm happy with this win. Thanks again for all your help.
  10. back again! I've also spotted a 4* Empire State Building Area that I may be interested in. Same dates: Feb 13th for 4 nights, 2 adults. $123 per night. Amenities listed: Free Internet, Fitness Centre, Business Centre, Self Service Laundry, Internet Access. 90% Hotwire recommended, it also says ''book soon, the last person got the St Giles - The Court New York'' I'd have guessed at St Giles The Court again? I know this is over my $100 per night budget, but I'm not too sure about the Soho one with it probably being the Doubletree. I used the links again! Thanks again europe-chick
  11. thanks, I thought Doubletree too. To be honest I'm not that keen to book if it's probably the Doubletree. Yep, I realise that it's Valentine's Day that weekend, which may push the prices up, it's also my birthday that weekend hence us choosing that weekend first rather than any of the others in Feb. I'll have a think and update the thread with our decision. thanks again for your help
  12. actually I think I may have changed my best guess. I'm now thinking it's the Doubletree? this would be my least favourite option from the 4* hotels listed, and it also doesn't really represent a great saving - their own website has rooms listed at $125 per night.
  13. Hi, Just after some help to id a New York hotel. Dates Feb 13th for 4 nights, 2 adults. $98 per night. 4* Downtown - Soho - Financial District. Amenities listed: Fitness Centre, Restaurant(s), Business Centre, Self Service Laundry, Internet Access, Wheelchair Accessible. 85% Hotwire recommended, and 4 out 5 Tripadvisor. It also says ''book soon, the last person got the Gild Hall'' I'm guessing that it's not actually Gild Hall this time, as they don't laundry listed as an amenity on your Hotwire list. I'm thinking maybe Andaz? as this seems to be the only one that has all of the above amenities. This is a last minute spur of the moment trip from Europe, and so I'm looking to keep the room at a max of $100 per night if possible (before taxes). Flights not booked yet, so we can be flexible and maybe go the weekend before of the weekend after this one if we end up with a better price. Many Thanks. europe-chick ps - I did click on your links to start my searches!
  14. I clicked on the links before replying!! Thanks for the info, we've decided not to book a hotel in Bishop after all as we would need the Tioga Pass road to be open to drive the route we had planned and stay overnight in Bishop (driving between Yosemite and Death Valley). We didn't want to take the chance that the road would be closed, and therefore not use the hotel. I know that the room wasn't expensive, but it's a 4 week road trip and so every dollar does count as we've set ourselves a strict overall accommodation budget and don't want to go over it. Thanks once again for the info though europe-chick
  15. Hiya I night in Bishop, CA. 2 adults. Check in 6/1/13, check out 6/2/13. Using the HOTWIRE link above 5 hotels are listed. 1 star, 2 star, 2.5 star, 3 star, 3.5 star. I'm just after some help to ID the middle 3. I don't fancy a 1 star, and the 3.5 star doesn't get the best reviews when I click on the Hotwire reviews so I'll discount that one too. 2 star - $68 Free Breakfast and pool are the only 2 amenities listed. 2.5 star - $82. Recommended in 80% of hotwire reviews. Free parking, free breakfast, pool, business center, high speed internet. 3 star - $94 Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower. Many thanks europe-chick
  16. thanks for all the help and advice. booked Planet Hollywood in the end on their own website and got a rate of $71 per night, no resort fee either. would rather have held out for a HOTWIRE 5star within our budget but the rest of our group wanted to book Planet Hollywood and were grouching about us all staying in different hotels! that's what happens when you holiday with friends hey!!
  17. I'm ready to book if I see a 5 star north strip drop to $125 per night, the others can suit themselves at this point! Will report back with my booking details as and when I book.
  18. Booked the Loop Theater District option, hoping for the Hard Rock. It was!! Extremely happy with this win at $144 per night. Used the HOTWIRE link to book.
  19. I'm currently seeing $154 for a 5 star strip north. I'm wanting $125 to then account for a $25 daily resort fee. My ideal max is $150 per night. I may or may not need 3 rooms, there's a bit of conflict between the group as to where to stay!! We may all end up in different hotels at this rate!! The dates are still the same - a 4 night stay from 5/12. I do use the links for my searches.
  20. Amenities listed were Free Parking, Airport Shuttle, Pool(s), Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access A bit 'meh' about this win, as I was really hoping for the Best Western Mccarran Inn (which represented a better saving against the hotel websites own price) I've actually ended up paying $1 more overall for the Super 8 on Hotwire as opposed to booking it direct! Total paid was $57.16, and on the Super 8 website I would have paid $56.17! I specifically needed something with an airport shuttle for just the one night. Narrowing the choice down to include this amenity left me with just this one, and a hotel downtown, we have a very early flight and so I plumped for this one as it's nearer to the airport.
  21. Hi, me again! I've done all of the above. And I've also just got one more hotel as well that I'd like some help with. Magnificent Mile North Water Tower area Hotel. 4star hotel. $148 per night, same dates as above. Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll in shower. I'm thinking that this may be the Omni, the Theater district one may be the Hard Rock, and the River North one may be the Sheraton. The Hard Rock would be my favourite, if my guesses are right. My max budget is $150 per night, first time to Chicago so we'd like to be in the heart of things so to speak. Should I look at any other areas or are these about right? I did use the HOTWIRE links to find all of these! Many Thanks europe-chick
  22. Still not booked a Vegas hotel, as I'm watching the prices for a 5star north strip hotel and hoping that they'll come down a bit. Once I'm happy with the price I'll book and post the details here.
