  1. You got a good deal. I recently stayed there at a slightly higher rate through Hotwire. Rooms are nice. Only drawback is the $12 a day parking charge. In-room Wi-Fi is free. Ask for a room away from Interstate 405.
  2. That is certainly interesting, since when I stayed there (Jan. 18-20), also paying $49 plus taxes and fees it was, appropriately, 3-stars (icons were Fitness Center, Pool and High-Speed Internet). It was the equivalent of 3-star Holiday Inn Ontario Airport which now manages both hotels, according to the front desk. Maybe they finally got their liquor license back, and this warranted an upgrade (I think they briefly lost it when they changed management and it went from being the Hotel Indigo to the Hotel Ontario), but the Holiday Inn has both a larger bar and restaurant. I can't imagine what other changes the Ontario could have made in such a brief period of time, so presumably Hotwire decided to change. Being 3 1/2 stars does not, of course, mean the rooms are necessarily nicer; it can just mean more facilities and even more charges (e.g., Marriott Ontario Airport is 3 1/2 stars on Priceline, but they charge both for parking and Internet, which the Ontario does not). By the way, out of curiosity I did a Web search, and the site for the Hotel Indigo Ontario-Rancho Cucamonga remains, but I saw no site for the Hotel Ontario.
  3. It is the Hotel Ontario. Was the Indigo. Upon arrival I learned that the hotel has changed ownership (now "independenty owned" though the receptionist said it's owned by the same people who own the Holiday Inn Ontario Airport and they are trying to get affiliation with the HI chain), and that it has officially changed its name to the Hotel Ontario. Signs, stationary, etc., all still say Hotel Indigo but it is in fact the Hotel Ontario now. When I asked if I could switch to a room not facing the street, the receptionist said the rooms of the level for Hotwire rates all faced the street. It does have a small cafe/restaurant, open in the morning and evenings.
  4. Went for a 3-star Ontario East, amenities fitness center, pool, high-speed Internet, $49 for Oct. 18-20 (unsure of what hotel it might be so booked for 2 nights; will exgtend or rebook, even for another, for last day, the 20th until the 21st). Hotwire says it's the "Hotel Ontario," but address matches the Hotel Indigo.
  5. I ended up changing my plans. I used Hotwire (link from this site) for a 3 1/2 star hotel in Costa Mesa-Irvine, $49, amenities fitness center, business center, pool, laundry, restaurant, high-speed Internet. Got the Crowne Plaza in Irvine. $12 parking, but free in-room Wi-Fi.
  6. What about just going for the Ontario Airport West hotel for one night, and then going back to Hotwire for 2 more nights if I get a good hotel? I'd also be able to add to the data base of BetterBidding!
  7. Actually need just 1 person. I tried the 2 persons, 2 children route to see if it changed the amenities (as it did when my wife and I recently got a hotel through Hotwire in the same area-- Ontario Airport West-- and adding 2 children added the restaurant amenity icon, making it clear we would not be at the Ramada; we got the Holiday Inn Ontario Airport and were quite happy with it). Now it's just me traveling.
  8. This would be a separate reservation from the one for Jan. 16-17. For one person, rate of $49 appears, with amenities of fitness center, pool and high-speed Internet. If I change the reservation to two adults and two children (following your advice on an earlier reservation for the same locale), additional amenities of shuttle, golf nearby, tennis neaby and restaurant appear. Rate remains the same. When we stayed at the Holiday Inn Ontario Airport recently, through Hotwire, amenities were the same as for the two adults/two children except at that time no "golf nearby" or "tennis nearby" appeared.
  9. Ontario, California. $56. 1 person. Amenities: shuttle, fitness room, pool, restaurant, business center, hi-speed Internet. If I change the reservation from just 1 adult to 2 adults and 2 children, price drops to $52, and additional amenities of no smoking, free breakfast and laundry appear. Holiday Inn Ontario Airport (which we recently used, going through Hotwire, utilizing the link from this site) does not offer a free breakst. Ayers, perhaps?
  10. Based on other successful bids I saw, for Hyatt at Ontario Mills and others, I bid $35 for a 3-star for Jan. 12-15, and was successful on the first bid. Upgraded for a 3 1/2 star hotel, the Ontario Marriott Airport, which is actually a mixed blessing since I understand they charge $11.95 for parking and $9.95 for Internet use in the room. For my next stay, next week, I might just go ahead with Hotwire at $49 and hope I get the Holiday Inn Ontario Airport again, which has free parking and free Wi-Fi (at leat the Marriott might have the option of more secured wired Internet in the room).
  11. Yes, pool shows. I was typing from my Hotwire printout and didn't see the pool listed. And I just got new glasses!
  12. Was there a "resort fee" on top of the total shown? We may be in the area in early January and this looks nice.
  13. Entered two adults and 2 children for the 3-star Ontario Airport West Property and got the Holiday Inn. No free breakfast (as opposed to Residene Inn and Ayres Suites), but very highly rated on Tripadvisor.com. Amenities: shuttle, restaurant, fitness center, high-speed Internet access. Details: Dec. 22- Dec. 25. Daily rate $49. Subtotal $147. "Tax recovery charges and fees," $21.96. Total cost $168.96. I did use the HOTWIRE link from this site.
  14. Helpful tips and reviews. Ramada Ltd. gets poor reviews on Tripadvisor, so just hoping to avoid that. HI and RI get rave reviews. I tried adding 2 children and suddenly restaurant pops up an amenity on the West hotel (still just one hotel appears for West, and at the same rate, but now shows a restaurant). Interesting technique (we could say we forgot the kids or, more believably, the airline lost them, though I'm sure the hotel doesn't care). Without knowing what amnieites the Ramads uses, a little bit of a chance except I'm pretty sure they don't have a restaurant, so if restaurant is included that would seem to rule them out.
  15. Thanks so much all of you. Very useful. Since we don't necessarily need to be near the airport (visiting relative who lives in the area), I'm leaning towards the East properties, to be a little further from the airport noise (and noise of nearby trains). The Ayres has excellent facilities and the free breakfast is great, but last time we were there I heard train noise a few times (planes not so much). Will post when we've booked (using the links here, of course).
  16. 12/22-12/25/2010. 1) Ontario Intl Airport ONT West Hotel $49: amenities, fitness center, pool, high speed Internet. Could be Ayres, Holiday Inn or Ramada Limited? 2) Ontario Intl Airport ONT East Hotel: same price and amenities. Aloft in Ontario-Rancho Cucamonga or perhaps Hotel Indigo? (I realize I have an outstanding post regarding Upland-Rancho Cucamonga hotel in January; this would be on the same trip; have not yet made a decision on that January stay, but will post a conclusion as soon as it's known). Thanks.
  17. Sorry for not posting this earlier. Got Doubletree Hotel near Miami Airport for $59 (plus tax/fees) a night, Oct. 14-15. Amenities listed were airport shuttle, restaurant, pool, fitness center, and high speed Internet. We had earlier gotten the Wyndham Miami Airport for $65, but had to cancel due to a serious illness in the family, and Hotwire quickly canceled the charge upon our faxing a letter from a doctor on his letterhead. We also contacted Priceline, about a reservation for later on, and they never replied (fortunately, the family member's condition improved enough that we were able to use that reservation).
  18. -I followed up on the Bethesda thread. -Yes, 18 days for Rancho Cucamonga-Upland.
  19. We went with the 3-star in Silver Spring, for $89 plus tax/fees. It was the Crowne Plaza. So-so hotel but it suited our purposes and location was what we wanted.
  20. -I've followed up on the Ottawa thread. -Link to the Bethesda thread is broken.
  21. Had to cancel our trip to due to relatives' health issues, and then later able to reinstate it. Ended up getting the Marriott Ottawa through HOTWIRE (link from this site) for $93 plus tax/fee for Oct. 15-16. Excellent hotel.
  22. $63, 1/12-1/30. Amenities listed: fitness center, pool, restaurant, business computer, laundry facilities, high-speed Internet. I did find Ontario on this site, but not Rancho Cucamonga-Upland (found hotel on Hotwire by inputting 91786 as search criterion). Thanks!
