  1. Accessibility: Accessible for the Deaf, Accessible for path of travel, In-Room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped bathroom, Roll-in Shower. I see those amenities when I go back into my Hotwire account. I did not notice them when I was booking it.
  2. Hyatt Regency $96 plus taxes/fees $23.24= US$119.34 Amenities: Pet Friendly, Restaurants, Fitness Ctr, Business Ctr, Pool, Internet Access This came in the confirmation email, I am not sure if it was in the Hotwire site when choosing: 85% love it Booked this via your HOTWIRE link on Tues. Aug. 5. Definitely was worth waiting to book closer to date, as I was watching the 4* Hotel prices closely and thought I was going to have to stay at a lesser star Hotel. (Sorry-could not post this win until I got back home.) 'Won' this hotel in 2012 via Priceline, and once again it was a very nice place to stay. Note: WiFi is not free, just accessible.
  3. Went through your HOTWIRE link and saw a: Toronto 4* Downtown West with the following: Smoke-Free, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Hi-Speed, Business, Super Savings $204, $93, Bed Choice, 4 out of 5 Trip Advisor rating which was Sheraton Centre. For some strange reason I clicked on the Bed Choice Option and for 2 Doubles Beds it was $103, so I accidentally made myself pay an extra $23 =oh well=too late now. Must remember not to book when I am in a hurry. Total for the 2 nights was: US$246.49. We stayed here in 2010 so we will know our way around a bit. Nice pool at this hotel so teenager will be happy and Tim Horton's right out the door so I will be happy.
  4. Ended up booking a room at the Super 8 for Aug.3-11 which I would say is the closest hotel to York Univ. Had to book it directly with the hotel as they were already booked up, but ?Mgr got some of Tennis Canada's rooms released=guess they had booked a lot for ????. (Players stay at nice hotels in downtown Toronto.) Reviews are fairly decent, with pool&free brkfast. Tim Horton's and McDonalds close by.:) Shorter walking distance than Ext. Stay Deluxe hotel we stayed at in 2010. (If we had a car we would have 'bid' in this zone as our tennis tickets include free parking.)
  5. Started bidding at $77 plus had $7 Pline bonus cash/night. Did 7 free re-bids increasing by $3 each. Then on 8th bid-upped it to $108, then on 9th upped it to $115 plus the $7. Won Hyatt Regency on King St. $115/night plus taxes: total for 2 nights = US$273.18 paid by me.(Plus extra $14 was Pline "money".) Did not include Downtown North in bid as couple of those hotels do not have pools. Think I got a bit carried away bidding-thinking I should use the $7 bonus cash which expired at midnight. Cheapest rate at Hyatt.com is $175/nt plus taxes, so saved a bit of money. I assume hotels are busier than 2 years ago, as when I attended Roger's Cup tennis 2 years ago I got the Sheraton Downtown for $79/nt on Hotwire! Now to look for another hotel for Aug.11-13. I think I will just watch and wait a while. :)
  6. Looking for North-York Vaughan,Ontario Aug. 3-10, 2012 for Rogers Cup tennis tourney at York Univ. and using public transit so location is quite important; searching using 2 adults. I have been watching Hotwire(using your link very often! :) ) for a while and have seen these two hotels come up: 3*= SMOKE FREE rooms, Fitness, POOL, Restaurant, Business, Internet, 4 out of 5 on Trip Advisor, 95% recommended for Hotwire reviews. Price today is $91/nt(highest I have seen yet)with the $146 & price has been as low as $81/nt. I am thinking it may be the new Novotel Vaughan hotel or the other Novotel North York-any other ideas?? 2.5*= Complimentary BRKFAST, Business, Laundry, Internet, 3.5 out of 5 TA, 90% recommended,. Price today is $82/nt (highest I have seen yet) with the $128& price has been as low as $63. I am not sure what this may be...??there are a few of Holiday Inns with one fitting the amenities: HI Express Toronto-North(I phoned & they are close'ish and starting to renovate their guestrooms), but I see they have previously been a 2*???? I will await any ideas of the above hotels. There are many 3* hotels in that area now. I MIGHT end up purchasing the first night and see what it is and then HOPE that if I go back in for the remaining nights, I will get the same hotel. Thanks in advance for your help. (I may also do a Priceline post.)
  7. I am starting to look at 3* Pline hotels near York University for Roger's Cup tennis (would be booking Aug.for 3-10or11 and using public transit to get to York U). There are lots of other hotels-some new ones- in this zone. The one I am hesitating on bidding for in this zone that is on the list due to bad ratings is: Radisson East. When I look at where the V-NYork zone is, it seems that this Radisson East is now in the North York EAST zone. Does that look correct??? (I also realize there are other hotels that could start popping up as wins in this zone.) I just want to be sure Radisson East is NOT in this V-NYork zone before I consider doing a PRICELINE hotel. Thanks in advance.
  8. Update: Instead of using Hotwire I went through your Extended Stay link under Support/Travel Links tab and reserved the Ex.Stay Deluxe in Toronto-Vaughan for Aug. 6-11. It is a short bus ride(so they tell me) to York University and while it is NOT fancy, it has pretty good reviews in Trip Advisor and we can cook a bit and it has free breakfast. The 5 nights were about $570?Cdn $ PLUS taxes on top. I did see what I think/guess was the Hilton for Downtown Toronto for those specific nights on Hotwire for a good price a couple of weeks ago, but the thought of a 45 min. /subway bus ride to and from York Univ. for our whole trip of 10 days was a bit off-putting. (I am hoping it cools down in Toronto a bit for the tennis in August!!!) Thanks for the info thereuare and robteb(and yes Rafa is on a winning streak eh??!!). :)
  9. I need a place for Aug.6-11 close to York University(Rogers Cup tennis tournament) as we will not have a car and will use public transit. 3* North York-Vaughan with: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Internet and 80% recommended and ??200+reviews(I see 84 reviews on Trip Advisor for the Novotel North York and 26 for Residence Inn) and overall satisfaction of 4.0 and $65/night. That does not exactly match the 2 on the Hotwire list: Residence Inn almost matches, or Extended Stay Deluxe (which I would stay at either of those for sure!) as neither of those have a restaurant. Should I guess that it is the Novotel North York downgraded from a 3.5* or there is a new Novotel Vaughan opening in July and maybe this is it?? Anyone else have any ideas??? Thanks in advance for any help. (There is also on Hotwire a 2* Brkfast,Business, Internet,Laundry, 90 % recommended and 4.5 satisfaction but I think that would be the HInn Express and it is too far away to take transit I think.)
  10. 4* Toronto WEST zone Sheraton Centre Hotel Wed. Aug. 11- Mon. Aug.16, 2010 US$79/night for 5 nights=$461.32 total Amenities: Smoke-free, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business center, Pool, Internet access It also had that new Bed Choice icon=$6 extra, but I did not need this option. Trip Advisor rating: 4 out of 5 and 85% recommended. Used Hotwire as we really wanted a Hotel with a pool and if we had used Priceline we may not have received a Hotel with a pool, as some of the Hotels in Downtown Toronto do not even have a pool! This is for when the two of us come to Toronto for Roger's Cup tennis tournament. (Would have loved to stay at the Hilton which is one of the sponsors of Roger's Cup but have not won the lottery yet!) It also said on my confirmation page: "Congratulations, you saved 53%. Hotwire hot Rate of just $79.00 Other travel sites: $169.30" Very happy with this price and the pool looks very nice(indoor and outdoor in the summer!)!!! thereuare, used your HOTWIRE link to book. Thanks. This site is the best!
  11. Myself and child will be attending Rogers Cup Tennis at York University Aug 7-16, 2010. We may look at staying in the dorms for about 4 nights-if they are inexpensive to save some money, and then getting a Downtown Toronto hotel for the other 6 nights and take public transit out to York University. We have never been to Toronto and plan to do a few touristy things besides watching copious amount of tennis! We are looking for a 4*(or 3.5* or maybe a 3*) in Toronto Downtown West or East areas(I think would be best). Our budget would be about $100/night IF possible. I see that the Hilton (that is a Rogers Cup sponsor and may have other tennis fans staying there which would be neat) is one of the 4* WEST hotels on Priceline and while I know you can not get a specific hotel on PL- but can get perhaps figure it out on HOTWIRE although the amenities are so similar to other 4* ones. Does anyone have advice to WHEN I should start bidding on PRICELINE? Should I do HOTWIRE instead- by keeping an eye on hotels received by other post'ers on HOTWIRE with their amenities to try and pinpoint the Hilton??? Any other helpful advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
  12. Going to Seattle with my 2 kids tomorrow and needed to get this done quickly. Quickly bid and accepted right away at $59 plus taxes/fees $16.01= $75.01 US. I don't think they have the free breakfast-kids will be bummed; at least they have a pool! Have stayed there a few years ago-seemed okay then. Not a bad price though for a fairly decent hotel. Went through your PRICELINE link. Thanks betterbidding site.
  13. Needed the Hyatt Regency and took a risk as I checked out the recent wins for Vancouver and saw lots of Hyatt Regency wins. Bid $63 and was rejected and was offered a counteroffer of an extra $17 so I took it. Could not risk doing any re-bidding in this instance. So got the room for US$80 plus taxes & fees of $20.65= US$100.65 total. My child's Grad dinner & dance is at the Hyatt so since I am driving into Vancouver and waiting for them to drive them back home to the Dry After Grad party, I thought I would get a room to rest, watch TV,etc. The day rate the Hyatt wanted was Cdn$145 plus 16% taxes. (Will be checking out the same night=using this win more like a day room.) Plus we can drive in early & hang out in Vancouver, and they can leisurely get dressed and take the elevator downstairs!! Thereuare, went through your PRICELINE link that you so conveniently have whenever you post! Whew! Glad I got the Hyatt- although I was prepared to have another Downtown Vancouver hotel come up. I will call the Hyatt, give them my Hyatt Passport number(no credit for the stay I know) and request an earlier check in time instead of 4 pm.
  14. Beachfront Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Tennis Nearby Spa Services I am also fairly certain it said: Customer Favourite. The amenities listed were just like in the Hotwire list here at Better Bidding for this Hotel.
  15. Used HOTWIRE as I needed a room for 2 Adults, 2 Kids and was afraid that if I went PRICELINE that I may have difficulties(and language problems) getting a 2 bed room in SJuan. I had been looking and could not find anything decent/reasonable price and yesterday morning saw this!! $109 x2 nights plus tax/fee = US$244.30. Plus remember the Hotel will charge you a 'resort fee' of about 15% at check-out. Place looks real nice. Very happy with the 'win'. Now to get something for the 1 night post-cruise. Thereuare-went through your HOTWIRE link. Thanks for all the good info at this site.
  16. I have been starting to look for a Hotel for the above dates for the 4 of us(2 Adults, 2 kids) & may use HOTWIRE instead of PRICELINE to make sure we get 2 beds(although we have never had a problem yet in the few times we have used PL). Best Value, 3.5* MV-HotelCircle, with icons: Fitness, Restaur, Business is showing for $102(was$99). Now that matches the Crowne Plaza. Plus there is a $10 day fee to park. (Also noticed the "savings' of $60, which seems to be absent today on the Hotwire site.) My question is: WHY would they NOT show the Pool icon? I phoned the CPlaza in San Diego & enquired if their pool was undergoing renovation this summer and they said no. That would be a disaster if I got a Hotel with NO pool!! Their reviews look generally good on Trip Advisor. Or if anyone has any other ideas of where to stay, etc. that is clean, safe and reasonable price, please post. We plan on going to the Zoo, Legoland, Coronado Beach, Chula Vista Nature Reserve, Old Town and maybe the Wild Animal Park. (We will be driving down from Anaheim on Aug.28 to San Diego in a rental car.) We have stayed previously at Days Inn Hotel Circle and a long time ago in the Town&Country Hotel Circle, and also a 'scary' motel in El Cajon? one time. Thank-you in advance for any help/advice.
  17. Thanks travelguy2 for the clarification. I just thought it was Resort level hotels that charged a resort fee. The price on Hyatt website for the room is approx.$135 or $113 on Hotwire, so we definitely saved some $$$!
  18. Started bidding with $55 and after about 3 bids at $62 I was counteroffered to increase it by $17(=$79). I did not go for it as I had quite a few bids left to do as there is 5 different re-bid zones for this. Bid about 4 more times and got the: Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Conference Center & Spa for $73 plus taxes and fees=$89.68 for 1 night Monday(Easter Monday) March 24/08. 250 Raquet Club Road, Weston, Florida This is about a 20 min. drive from the FLL airport. We will have a rental car to return and as our flight leaves at 6:15am in the morning we would have to get a taxi from any hotel near the airport anyways (as I have been reading some of the shuttles do not start until 5 or 6 am). This Hyatt has a lovely looking pool. It has fairly good reviews on Trip Advisor. I noticed that on the printout it says there is a RESORT fee that will be charged directly upon check-out. I was a bit shocked as this is not a RESORT listed hotel. Do you think I should contact PLine and dispute it???? :) Went to www.savingsbarn.com and then to Priceline.
  19. FYI everyone. Looks like inventory has opened up for March 13, 2008 on Hotwire($142) for the Hyatt Regency Downtown Miami. PLine Hotels it was $159 and on the BIDDING part of PLine I got a counteroffer at $125 + 22=$147. Also the Hyatt website was ?$160(AAA rate), and the Regency Club level rate was $192(AAA). I splurged and booked the Hyatt's website's Regency Club rate of $192.10 plus tax=$217.07. IMPT:JUST went to Hyatt to check on the regular room rate on Hyatt to post this and it is back up to $251 and $291 for the Regency Club rate!!!!!!!!!!!!! LUCKY I took that booking!!! If you are looking for that specific day like I was-keep an eye out for rooms becoming available!!???
  20. Did lots of rebidding and got this almost at my maximum I was willing to spend: $146 plus taxes/fees=$174.65. This is for Sunday March 23/08(Easter Sunday). Was counteroffered at $142 plus $22 but did not take it. Am considering the extend your stay option for the next night. Phoned the Hyatt/Pline phone # and requested 2 double beds and Nonsmoking room. I see I am in the Hyatt system as they took my Gold Card # also(although I know I will not get any points for the PL stay). Am satisfied with the price as Miami seems very expensive for this time of year. Now to get the elusive March 13 room! Went to www.savingsbarn.com and then to the PRICELINE link. Thanks for the bidding strategy-I finally figured it out!
  21. Yes I have tried bidding for the March 13 (and also put in higher bids than the other date (which is Easter Sunday&Monday) of course). I have started as low as $80 increasing usually by $5, lately increasing by $10 per free re-bid. I think the max. I have hit is $120. I think our maximum to pay for a 4* Dowtown Miami for the March 13 date would be: $180. (If it takes more than that for a 4* Downtown, we may have to lower our Hotel Downtown Miami to a 3* and max.$140.) I am more concerned with the March 13 hotel date and will post when I get accepted on the other date. Someone from our cruise got the Hyatt for March 13 on PL for $191 plus taxes/fees. Hyatt website AAA rate is $251 and Hotwire is $239. I always go to savingsbarn.com to get to Priceline before bidding! Thank-you for any strategy help.
  22. Hi, I have read 'somewhere else' about the various 'permutations'? possible on a 4* Downtown Miami. There are currently 4 free rebid zones. I guess I do not quite understand the theory: how many times will I have to close my browser and 'start again'??? My first attempt at the various permutations system did not work! lol I must be mathematically-challenged. This is perhaps too complicated for me and I should just use my simple 4 free re-bid zones as I have in the past. It looks like March 13 1 night stay, will be more $$ than March 23 2 night stay- by looking at various Hotel website/etc. sites. I also think it might be a bit early for PL to have the Hyatt available for an 'okay' price. I will keep trying though! Plus I better get a cancellable back-up hotel in place! Please feel free to move this topic if I have posted in the incorrect spot. Thank-you in advance for any help you can give.
  23. Decided Friday Nov.23 in the evening to stay overnight while Xmas shopping in Bellingham the next day. Saw that another person had got this, so I THOUGHT I would start low(being US Thanksgiving/shopping weekend) and started my bid at $35. It was accepted! So for $35.00 plus taxes/fees= US$45.96. Phoned quite quickly to Hotel and requested 2 beds, but they said I was already down for 2 beds! Fairfield Inn & Suites 9834 Old Hwy 99N, Burlington(26 miles South of Bellingham) (About 3 miles from Cascades Mall in Burlington.) Free, good breakfast, free internet access, free parking, indoor pool(not hot enough for me though), hottub, 3 exercise machines, entire hotel is nonsmoking; easy to find off of the Interstate 5 at Exit 232. The place was very nice and new. Only negative: IF you are a light sleeper request a room as far away from the Interstate 5 as possible! Would return. (I will try and get a more complete review done sometime soon.) Went to savingsbarn.com and then to PRICELINE link.
  24. 2 nights at US$49/nt plus taxes and services fees = $120.21 total. My bid was accepted first time. Guess I could have maybe got it a bit cheaper, but am satisified with price as it includes free breakfast, outdoor heated pool and free parking! Gets good/decent reviews for a 2 1/2*/budget place on tripadvisor. Saw it was $67/nt on Hotwire(assuming I 'read' the amenities, etc. correctly). Phoned today and put in a request for 2 beds. They knew it was a Priceline room and said that my request is not guaranteed.(Which I already knew.) Did request a on-smoking room (which is part of the PL room guarantee). Went to savingsbarn.com first and then PRICELINE link.
  25. Read on our cruise roll call that someone got Hyatt Downtown Miami for $90 precruise, so thought I would try as the Hyatt is a handy location and familiar area (as we stayed there in 2005). My bidding was: 4* Downtown for $80=Rejected; added North Miami and upped the price to $84=Rejected; added Dadeland and upped the price to $88= Accepted. Total with taxes and fee $208.81 Now I will contact Hyatt Customer Service for the 2 beds, non-smoking request. Thanks goodness the prices came down!! We still have our Jan.4th booked at Hampton Inn Dowtown/Key Biscayne as they have breakfast and free parking. We will drop off our bags at the Hyatt on the morning of the 5th, return the car in South Beach area, hang out there for the day, and can easily find our way back to the Hyatt by bus. (Went through savingsbarn.)
