  1. Thanks for the information Romelle. I see it on HOTWIRE now. It says: "Rentals are held 24 hours. If the airline changes your flight and you can't pick up your car with 24 hours, you can cancel it once we verify the change." Thanks for pointing this out.
  2. I guess my other question is, how do car rental companies handle late arriving flights when booked through HOTWIRE? Also, can you book a car rental on HOTWIRE on the same day as your travel?
  3. I guess it's a litte of both about SIXT (unknown to me and lower reviews). Thanks for telling me more about them. They have 3 stars average review on Yelp. The one comment that comes up is that they say they have to put a deposit hold on your credit card. That in and of itself is common procedure, but apparently they are requiring a very large deposit. However, it is one of seven possible vendors. Thanks for helping me think this through.
  4. Thanks for the reply. I was looking at January 18th - 23rd (five days). The vendor I was hoping to avoid was Sixt. I really never heard of them. Thanks for pointing out that most of the vendors are the top tier. I've heard some bad things about some of the others not listed, so I'm glad they're not showing up.
  5. I'm looking to rent a car on Hot.wire for a trip to Orlando next week.  Are there any vendors that one is more likely to get?  Hotwire gives a list of vendors and says it will be one of those vendors listed.  Some of the car rental vendors listed do not have good reviews.  Are there any vendors that are more common to get when you book on Hot.wire in Orlando?    Also, has anyone used the Hot.wire car rental insurance (to avoid having to file a claim with my own insurance) if an accident were to happen? Thank you.
  6. Thanks for the quickly reply! I decided to make a reservation with a hotel directly to get a hotel I wanted. Did not use Hotwire or Priceline. Please close this threat out.
  7. I got a room on Price.line for one night (check in July 10 and out July 11). The hotel was the Innplace Hotel Bensalem, in Bensalem, PA. I got the hotel on first bid for $56 (taxes and fees $66.17). Sorry this is so late!
  8. Yes, thank you for cathcing that! Also, you are correct, it is for 2 adults 2 children. Here are the full amenities. FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, In-room accessibility What I am looking for is a good deal at a decent clean place near Ohare for an early morning flight. Free parking and free breakfast a definite plus, and also a shuttle! Would go as high as $110 if necessary. Thank you.
  9. Hi, I'm trying to identify a hotel for June 10-11 for one night in the ORD North area. It is 2.5 stars. The amenities are: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Business Center Self service laundry The rate is $63 a night. 85% recommend, Tripadvisor rating is 3.5. Thank you.
  10. Hotwire Hotel Win - Lisle-Naperville Hotel, 3 star, march 25-27, $60 per night - Hyatt Place Warrenville, IL I was really hoping for the Hyatt House, not the Hyatt Place, but the Hyatt Place will do. But still a good deal.
  11. That was my guess also, but wanted to get a second opinion from an expert. :) So am I correct that I can bid through either the bidding helper or the regular Hotwire site? In this case the regular Hotwire site is $2 cheaper per night, and I'm all about saving money!
  12. I am looking at a hotel in the Lisle-Naperville area on Hotwire. The dates of the stay are March 25, checking out on March 27. The hotel has three stars and is $62 per night on the bidding helper. It looks like it is $60 per night on the Hotwire site. Two adults, two children. FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Golf Nearby, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower. Any ideas or help would be appreciated! Thank you!
  13. Great, thanks Aaron! Same great board, just a different layout!
  14. It's been a while since I've been on here. You used to be able to go to the top right corner and select either Hotwire or Price, Hotel, and the state you were looking for to see a list of possible hotels by location and star level. Is this located someplace else now? Thank you.
  15. Thanks for the reply Dahammer and Thereuare! I have been busy the past few days getting our daughter ready for her trip to Europe, so everything else has sort of taken a back seat! But I do appreciate the input. I have read TripAdvisor reviews for one of the hotels that people seemed to be getting a lot, and they were very mixed. One person recently had something taken out of their room, and the parking sounded dicey too. Just not sure about the whole downtown thing. The Cherry Hill area is one I may have to keep in mind. I have to admit, I was not planning on $80 a night for a hotel. i was definitely hoping for something cheaper with free parking. I'll keep you posted once I make up my mind! Thanks again.
  16. The date would be checking in on July 9th and probably out on July 10th. When you say the best area to stay in is Downtown, is that because it's near the sights? I prefer to be in the suburbs, even if it is less convenient for sightseeing. I also think it's more expensive downtown from what I've seen. Is there one suburban area that would be cheaper than another and still safe? I would also consider the NJ suburbs of Philadelphia. The train looks like it would be too expensive. Would most likely drive.
  17. I will be coming to the east coast to pick up my daughter at Newark Liberty Airport in mid July. (She is returning from a trip to Europe.) My thoughts right now are that we would like to visit a few sites in Philadelphia for about a day before going to Northern Virginia. My questions are: - What are the best places to look for a hotel in the Philadelphia area? I'm looking for something in the $45-$60 a night range. I would like a free breakfast and free parking. Also looking for a safe area, prefer the suburbs. - I could also stay in the Trenton area if if I were more likely to score a better deal as far as price. - Or is it reasonable to take the train to the Newark airport from the Philadelphia area (if not too expensive)? I'm unfamiliar with this area and any help is appreciated! Thank you.
  18. I'm sorry I forgot to get the amenities at this hotel and have deleted the email. I made it as a "guest" and was not logged in to my Hotwire account, so it is not saved there.
  19. Got the 3*** Ramada Pigeon Forge - Music Road Area located in the Pigeon Forge North - Dollywood zone on Hotwire. The amenities are: Free parking, free breakfast, indoor pool, fitness center, pool, business center, high speed internet. Price was $43.00, and $54.78 with taxes and fees.
  20. Just got the Best Western Wytheville on Hotwire for $71.92 with taxes and fees. I was hoping to get the Country Inn and Suites. The Best Western is not highly rated. Not looking forward to the stay.
  21. I bid $61 for a 2.5* hotel in Charleston WV. The bid was made on the evening of my stay, so I really had just one chance--no 24 hour rebids, and there are no rebid zones. I got the Best Western Charleston Plaza Hotel. Gotta admit I was disappointed in the hotel. No extra blankets, no luggage cart (8th floor room), dirty room. I think I should have bid a little lower, but knowing that I only had one shot, this is what I did. If ever in the area again, maybe I should go for a three star instead.
  22. I ended up staying a little farther south and stayed in Fredericksburg. I used Hotwire and got the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 2.5* hotel for $61 a night for three nights, plus taxes and fees of $29.51. Amenities listed are: Complimentary breakfast, pool, high speed internet access, free internet, business center, fitness center, laundry. Very nice hotel by the way. Please close out this thread.
  23. First, I have to thank you for all your help! I've got to check with the wife on the Holiday Inn...the only downside being it looks like it would be two double beds, and two queens would be best. But at this point we may not have a choice. Let me ask you one more question. Any ideas what this 3*** hotel in Manassas would be? Sames dates: May 13-16. It has: -Free parking, Fitness Center, Restaurant, Laundry, Smoke free, Pool, Business Center, High speed Internet Access. There is also a 2.5** in the same area I would be curious about. These are both on Hotwire.
  24. Is there anyone out there familiar with Washington DC that can tell me what would be the best area to bid on, to keep the price low? It seems I am looking at a much higher price than I anticipated. Which areas would be good to get a three star hotel or higher in, and be within say 30 miles and are in decent areas?
