Hotel was fantastic. Very satisfied with the stay. They even honored my Marriott Gold status, which is rare with third-party stays.

PRICELINE EXPRESS showed a $94/nt rate for a Frankfurt Airport hotel that I was pretty confident was the Sheraton Airport hotel. Rolled the dice on NYOP: $70 - rejected (added Darmstadt) $75 - rejected (added Frankfurt Messe) $80 - rejected (added Frankfurt West) $85 - rejected (added Frankfurt North) $87 - accepted The Sheraton is attached to the airport, but the Steigenberger is only across the street and has a free shuttle. Was it worth the $21 for the added inconvenience? Probably not, but we'll still get to the airport unnecessarily early that it won't matter.

Saw a 5-star in Checkpoint Charlie which I'm pretty sure was the Hilton Berlin for $154/nt on PRICELINE EXPRESS. Decided to bid to see if I could save a little money. First bid: Checkpoint Charlie - $125 - got a counter for $154/nt Second bid: Added Bradenburg Gate - $130 - accepted at the Berlin Marriott Not the hotel I thought I'd get, but happy none-the-less.

It seems like Priceline Express beats Hotwire on every hotel. PRICELINE EXPRESS has Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin for $139/nt (compared to $153 on HW), Eurostars Berlin for $150/nt (compared to $160 on HW), along with a 5-star in Kurfuerstendamm - Savignyplatz for $112/nt which is either the Swissotel or the Sofitel.

Yes, this is a win in Frankfurt. You said Munich in your response, which tripped me up, but I think it was a mistake on your part.

The 65% recommendation rating spooked me, so I ended up bidding on The Modern Honolulu on PL and got it for $167/nt: Knew this was the only 5-star (really 4.5-star) hotel in the area for PRICELINE, so started bidding at $125. Immediately received a counter offer of $192. Bid ~$10 increments until it was finally accepted at $167/nt. PRICELINE EXPRESS had it for $173/nt, but now it's up to $200/nt. No resort fees, very happy with the deal!

Thank you for the quick reply! The 65% recommendation does concern me, because Hotwire says the Hilton Hawaiian Village is recommended by 86% of guests. But I cannot find another 4-star property in the area and the only others listed on travel sites are the two other Hilton Vacation properties. Maybe the 65% recommendation is representative of more recent reviews (e.g. past 6 months) than the entire history of the hotel? Still checking out other zones, but will update when I decide when/what to book.

This makes me think it's The Prince, but on Hotwire, the Prince is listed as having 3000+ reviews? The Prince does have a $31.41/nt resort fee which matches the Hotwire listing. The $174/nt option is more confusing, because Hotwire says it only has 5 Hotwire reviews and is 65% recommended. Yet if the $199/nt option is The Prince, the only 4-star resorts in the Ala Moana area are Hilton properties, the Hawaiian Village with 10000+ Hotwire reviews. The Hilton Hawaiian Village (and the sister Grand Waikikian and Grand Islander) all have $35/nt resort fees, not $31.42. Am I missing something? Should I only go off amenity list and TripAdvisor rating/review counts?

Tried bidding 5-stars up to $230 on PL in the Munich City Center, didn't get anything. Blown away that this hotel was being offered for $114/night as everything else nearby was easily 2x. Even with having to get four rooms, still ended up cheaper than an apartment rental. Amenities: Free Internet, Bed Choice, Fitness Center, Non Smoking, Pets Allowed, Restaurant

Didn't even bother bidding, was concerned why this 3.5-star hotel in downtown PDX was $50 less than similar Express deals, but I'm not complaining. Amenities: Business Center, Restaurant, Free Internet, Fitness Center, No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

I don't know what's going on that weekend, but hotels are filling up and rates are rising, that I pulled the trigger. Ultimately used Hyatt points + rewards to book the Hyatt Centric French Quarter for Friday/Saturday nights, then used Priceline's Name-Your-Own-Price to book the Crowne Plaza French Quarter for $73/nt + fees on Thursday: http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=219199 Hyatt reservation can be canceled up to 72-hours before stay, so I'll monitor HOTWIRE/PRICELINE the week of to see if there are any significant drops.

PL had their nightly rate as $98, PRICELINE EXPRESS had a 4-star for $78 (probably this same location) Bid $61, $67, $71, $73 I've never been a fan of Crowne Plaza (or, really, any non-Intercontinental IHG property) and this hotel looks to be more of the same from the TripAdvisor reviews.

Booked this on accident, was able to call Priceline + Hyatt and they were nice enough to cancel this reservation with no penalty. Figured I'd still share the win :) 4-star, accidentally checked "Downtown New Orleans" (the Hyatt Regency's location is the reason why I think the "Downtown" zone isn't worthwhile). Downtown New Orleans for PL scares me because it's a big zone that extends pretty far north to include that Hyatt near the Superdome.
