Got The Wink -- not what I expected since it wasn't on the Hotwire hotels list for four-star hotels, but I'm sure it will be fine. **Express purchase.** I failed getting a hotel at $115 when I bid in this district. Rather than changing my zone or hotel level, I just did the express purchase and this is what I got.

This was my first bid and I was pretty confident it would succeed, as the PRICELINE EXPRESS deals price was $115 for a 4 star hotel in this area. I then extended it one night for the same price, so I am actually checking out Monday March 4.

Bid $98 for a four star hotel only in this zone. The bid was rejected, but I took their offer to get a 4-star in this zone for $121. Decided it wasn't worth it to deal with multiple bids in multiple zones this time. Used the PRICELINE link, of course.

Tried $49 a night first -- what someone had used to win several months ago. It was rejected, and I took the offer to get the bid accepted for $63 -- the same price I could have used for the "express" method where you don't actually bid. I'm happy with the Courtyard Marriott -- they are good hotels, and I will like this better than the Best Western by the Allentown/Bethlehem airport that I got on Hotwire a few weeks ago for around the same price.

I know there are a couple of even lower winning bids out there for this hotel, but I did not want to risk it. I didn't want to have to choose another area. I've stayed at the Hyatt before and they upgraded us to a suite, which was very nice and absolutely enormous. It's a good location, not as good as some others but still fine. And this is cheap cheap cheap, way cheaper than the conference hotel at more than $200/night. Yup, I used a BetterBidding link to PRICELINE to make my bid. I've used this site several times in the past 2 years, always with great success. Thanks!

I'm nosing around on Hotwire and finding three options at the 4 star level for the Loop or Streeterville area. One is four stars, Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville area Hotel, $73 -- amenities are : Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services Second option is 4.5 stars, Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville area Hotel, $99, with: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Third option is 4 stars, Loop area, $175, with: Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Any ideas what each of the three of these might be? I'm not looking for any particular hotel, but want a nice place with a likely king-size bed, non-smoking. Thanks!

I placed a HOTWIRE bid today for a four-star hotel in the Chicago Loop. Got the Palmer House. I've stayed there before and the rooms aren't large but the hotel is historic and recently redone. It works very well and I got a great price. Not bad for a trip that is next week. I paid far more than I would have liked, but I'd tried several combinations of star levels, locations, and prices (including higher prices for 3.5 stars) -- I think doing this two days on June 24 for a June 26 trip was what did me in. I think I selected pretty much all the major areas in Manhattan *except* Times Square -- have stayed right there a couple of times, really wanted a new area. Yup, I used the betterbidding PRICELINE link to bid.

Couldn't get a four star for $85; got the Washington Hilton for $85/night, a two-night stay... it is a nice hotel and convenient. Used your PRICELINE link -- thanks for the info!

I placed a HOTWIRE bid today for a four-star hotel in the Chicago Loop; I wanted the Palmer House and got it. :) If someone is trying to get the Palmer House specifically, I would make sure to check only the box for the Loop to see if there is a hotel that matches this description. It's not Magnificent Mile/Streeterville, etc. Note that Hilton is generally not considered a four-star brand by Hotwire, but the Palmer House is an exception to this.
