  1. 2.5* Maingate/Celebration $26 per night 3/12-3/15 Ameneties show as-- Non-Smoking, Bed Choice. Pools, Restaurants The notation on the offering page is - Recommended in 75% of customer reviewers A $5 resort fee is noted in the "Know before you go" section. This is the Best Western Lakeside.
  2. Well I just booked it anyway and it is the Best Western Lakeside. I stayed there many years ago when it was the Sheraton 4 Points Lakeside...I see it has been a La Quinta as well. Should I post the results in a separately?
  3. It does come and go...I have also picked it up using 1 adult and 1 child instead of 2 adults.
  4. Yes, I'm sorry there is indeed a smoke-free icon as well. The 100+ customer was in the customer review section with the "Quality of Service", "Room Comfort ", ect. on a scale of 1-5. My Trip Advisor comment was a refrence to the Ramada reviews I have seen, not this particular Hotwire offer.
  5. I did a search but could not find this 2.5* Maingate/Celebration -In light of the Trip Advisor reviews it does not appear to be the Ramada. Ameneties: Bed Choice. Pools,Restaurants $5 Resort Fee Recommended in 75% of customer reviewers 100+ total reviews I have followed this for a few days and occasionsally when I hit the "details" the rate (and probably the hotel) changes. It goes up to $30, the ameneties change to eliminate bed choice and and add business center and high speed internet. The approval rating drops to 55%.
  6. I did try for 3 1/2 * at the same price, no go. $45 was my only bid on 3* ....I know I could have done a couple of $ less but did not have the time to experiment for that little money.
  7. I tried $30 & $35 with no luck. I liked this hotel, see the Sheraton Safari Reviews.
  8. I too stayed in this hotel in April of 2009 and agree with all of the above...I should have shown my Starwood card but I arrived at 2:00 am and had nothing but sleep on my mind. The staff could not have been nicer I was very impressed that everyone from front desk to janitor went out of their way to say hello and wish us a nice day. The rooms are indeed getting a bit tired (mine had some carpet stains and a it of peeling wallpaper) and the hallways are sort of college dorm-like. But...I paid $40 a night. I would go again in a second for twice the price.
  9. The Radisson is now (4/2009) listed as a 2 1/2 star. The rooms are a bit worn but I found it just fine. Coffee and fridge in the room..safe too but it was too small for my laptop. The pool area and pool bar were great. Ask for non-smoking because they don't ask...I am getting used to 100% non-smoking hotels so sometimes I forget and these Florida hotel rooms can really hold an odor. If you are on the water side you are also on the street side and it is a very busy street. I'd ask for a room above the 3rd floor ..higher the better....or ask for a room facing the pool. Overall I had a good experience.
  10. I have used this site's links for all of my recent PRICELINE and HOTWIRE reservations.
  11. This motel was in fact the Rodeway FLL 2* $32 per night for one night, April 22. This hotel does not look like much when you first see it but it was okay for an airport stay and certainly a deal at $32. Be aware that some rooms have only one bed, my fault for not checking early on and asking for two beds..I was traveling with my daughter so put a roll away in the room (for $10). The shuttle runs every hour on the hour so you might end up having a wait a bit. There is no elevator so be aware if access is an issue. The Lounge in the motel a pretty decent sports bar with 20 or more TV's....very good tavern-type food, a great place to grab a burger particulalry if you like to watch 20 different sporting events at the same time.
  12. I'm usually pretty good with this type of from but I don't see how to edit my post. The dates for the Radisson Key West were April 20th and 21st the rate was $125 per night. The story on my reservation is that I had been following rates in the keys for a week or two so was pretty familiar with the offerings. I don't recall ever seeing any 2.5 * hotels in Key West other than the beach access, etc. hotel that I eventually purchased. I made the reservation the day before my arrival and I did it from a weak "hot spot" while I was traveling so I did not print out my reservation and did not have time to review the hotel's site. I emailed Hotwire and let them know the Radisson did not have beach access and their reply was very much a "canned" response. After I re-explained a couple of times the Hotwire offering page for the 2.5* hotel in Key West changed for a day, just removing the beach access icon. Later in the day or the next day it changed back to the amenity package I had bid on and then a day or two later changed to an accurate amenity configuration for the Radisson...one I have never seen until a few days ago that included exercise room, business center and tennis...that accurate description is still on their site for the only 2.5* hotel offered in Key West. I have never seen more than one 2.5* hotels in Key West at a time...there COULD be three; Hotwire has had three descriptions of amenities for 2.5* hotels in Key West this week. And I MAY have just happened to hit those three on a day when they were, one at a time, offering rooms...but I doubt it. I think someone at Hotwire made a mistake, I made (originally) a very small issue of their error and their denial of their mistake has been ridiculous...almost humorous. Hotwire certainly could have just told me they have several 2.5* hotels offering rooms in Key West and I must have made a mistake it was hotel "X" that was the 2.5* with beach access not the Radisson....but they did not.
  13. A bit of a story with this reservation. My last with Hotwire I guess. Amenities of this hotel were; beach access, pool, restaurant , internet, laundry so I assumed it was the Holiday Inn since the Hotwire list of hotels on this site has that hotel with those amenities. It was the Radisson which was fine with me. The confirmation I received has a different set of amenities but I did not notice. The Radisson has no beach access which I pointed out to Hotwire upon my return but Hotwire was having no part of any error, they insisted the information on their site was correct and made no mention of beach access. I assumed they were still making an honest mistake and looking at the correct confirmation and not the web-site so I tried to be patient. I have only seen one 2.5* Hotel in Key West and the amenities had always been beach access, pool, restaurant , laundry and internet. After a fair amount of back and forth I asked Hotwire to check their own web site to see what showed for the amenities of their only 2.5* hotel. Well suddenly the 2.5* has no beach access..all else the same. The simple mistake suddenly appears more like a cover-up. A few hours later the beach access was back and today the only 2.5* show amenities as are shown on my Radisson confirmation...exercise room, pool, restaurant , internet, business center, tennis (though I don't know where that is), laundry. Oh well....I really expected more from Hotwire, silly me...stand behind your word and adverising??..Why bother? I had requested a small adjustment to my bill to account for no beach access. The difference between the price of a hotel with no access(which I would have chosen) and one with...only $25-30 a night, I was not all hot about my daughter NOT being able to walk to the beach, parking, driving, loading and unloading the car. I didn't make a big deal at all other than asking Hotwire to own up to thier error or show me there was no error. So anyway....now it appears that the Hotwire Hotel with ...exceicise room, pool, restrnt, internet, business center, tennis and laundry is the Radisson. A nice decent hotel with a very pretty pool area. It is about as far from a beach you can get and still be on Key West, ask about the tennis if it is important because I saw no courts, and the restaurant is a Denny's (thought the pool has a snack bar is nice).
  14. If real bargains are a must and the islands are negotiable keep an eye out for the Cooonut Point Hyatt in Bonito Springs..it comes up on PL once in a while, particularly off season, and I've see amazing bargains there for a 5* resort.
  15. I am assuming you meant June 26-July 2. The good news is that there really are not any horrid hotels on Sanibel or Captiva, the two pieces of bad news are that there are only a few hotels on the islands (mostly condos with private owners who rent through brokers) and only one that I am aware of that uses Hotwire or Priceline. That one is the Sanibel Inn. I have heard rumors of South Seas on Captiva but those are old rumors and the place has changed hands since then so... I know this is not a travel advice forum but I have been to this area many times and if I were going to propose I would be at Tween Waters on Captiva on the beach at sunset. The place is not that expensive in June and is perfect for your purposes...look it up.
  16. I have been following HOTWIRE but didn't see anything special. I had been bidding on PRICELINE in the 30's with no luck or counter-offers. Tried $40 and got the Safari. FYI..I almost booked the Days Inn Maingate on their web site.... $40 with AAA discount. That seems like a very good deal considering you can cancel without penalty vs(I believe) the same hotel on Hotwire at $38 for the dates above. Thanks for the help here...I booked through the PRICELINE link and will spread the word. I am a long time PRICELINE / HOTWIRE user and convert to this site due to the friendly attitude...a shame for the competition after creating a fine service and a tribute to you for recognizing that a good product is only one part of a successful business.....keep up the good work.
  17. I though maybe Holiday Isle since is touts itself as a resort. Days Inn was a maybe also but the Days Inn would probably show as a suites hotel. Reviews of both are mixed to the low side. I'm going to wait a bit then I'll try the one night to see what I get. I'll post the results.
  18. It looks like there is no info on the hotels offered in Marathon and Islamorada. Both for April 18-22 Islamorada 2.5* Resort, beach, pool, restrnt. $95 a night with no indication of a resort charge. Marathon 2* Pool, Laundry $94 a night.
  19. Please help with an ID for this Ft. Lauderdale airport hotel. 2* Price is $32 Amenities: Airport Shuttle and Food .......that's all. Additional info- 2.5 miles from FLL. Oops...I see it is probably the Rodeway Inn...sorry to bother you.
  20. 3 star, no smoking, fitness, pool, Internet,(BC), Laundry, golf and kids activ. 5% resort fee. Karena, Have you determined the identity of this hotel for sure? I too am interested.
