  1. I guess you'll have good chances for an upgrade to exec floor as Gold... depending on room availability. When I stayed at the HI Siam on a PL rate, I was upgraded to a superior room, being just a lowly base member.
  2. At least, it seems that the Holiday Inn Silom has finished the renovation of their Club Rooms nowadays, and they look not too bad now <sorry, hotlinking not permitted> But I wonder if they still sell these for the surcharge of +/- 30US$ over the standard room price (or the Priceline price)
  3. Interesting to see a new hotel coming up... didn't want to risk another night in the (non-smoking) Moevenpick.. so tried only for FRA-East.. hard fight.. last bid before: $90 / 4* Fra-East only: rejected, upped to 92 .. got the Sofitel Sofitel Savigny Frankfurt Savignystrasse 14-16 Frankfurt/Main, Germany 49 6975330 Check-In Date: Friday, February 15, 2008 Check-Out Date: Saturday, February 16, 2008 Your Offer Price: US$92.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: US$92.00 Taxes and Service Fees: US$21.35 Total Charges: US$113.35 --- thus around 76 Eur per night all in versus 89 Euro on homepage ("Early rate - Credit card prepaid") Used Savingsbarn, of course
  4. Check-In Date: Saturday, February 16, 2008 Check-Out Date: Sunday, February 17, 2008 Moevenpick Hotel Frankfurt City Ecke Hemmerichsweg, Den Haager Strasse 5 Frankfurt, Germany 49 69 788 0750 Your Offer Price: US$69.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: US$69.00 Taxes and Service Fees: US$19.05 Total Charges: US$88.05 --- well.. was hoping for the Marriott (which still provides smoking rooms :) ).. but ended up with the Moevenpick.. Tried before for 4* East zone only, $64, rejected, added west, upped to 69 - got the Moevenpick; tried 3* Fra-west zone for up to $45 too - rejected regular rate Moevenpick: 87.20 EUR incl. taxes / prepaid - so still saved some bucks used Savingsbarn
  5. A friend of mine got the Grand Hyatt for $135 for one week (Jan 26th to Feb 2nd). First bid: $130 for MTE only rejected, she added Times Square Zone and upped to $135 and got the Grand Hyatt.
  6. The Interconti is also in the East Zone and seems having been upgraded by PL to 5star level
  7. There have been successful bids reported for Cebu City and Manila. See the hotel list: Priceline Hotel List
  8. Only the Harbour Plaza North Point has been reported up to now as 4 star in the East HK Island Zone. The Ren Harbour View should be in the West HK Island Zone
  9. Couldn't you use the "extend your stay"-function for the Marriott? Was it just the night before?
  10. Very nice to see a new property showing up for Bangkok... And for sure a nice all-suite-place to stay.. however not really huge savings... marriott.com lists a price of 167 US$ per night incl. taxes and service charges (15922 THB for total stay) for your christmas dates.. Was it your first bid?
  11. The Cologne Marriott is a 4star hotel now in Priceline - I've just remarked it in my bidding history that it's been upgraded from 3star to 4star.
  12. It's a nice hotel, but more in a business district. Well done!
  13. The Moevenpick is a new hotel near the fairgrounds of Frankfurt, a little bit remote from the main roads, so it was a quiet location, though there seems to be some construction ongoing in the neighbourhood (or to come). We arrived by car, so I can't really report about distances towards public transport, but according to the hotel's brochure, it's a "10 minute walk" to the main central station of Frankfurt (less to a local subway station of course). The hotel comes with a nice modern design, quite colourful. The lobby was modern too but only one front desk agent available upon check-in (on a Saturday early evening). There were several parking lots available outside the hotel for the period when we stay at the hotel (august) - but very probably not during fairs. There was the "Afrika! Afrika!"-show tent opposite of the hotel, so no public parking available during the evenings at that time (however lots of spaces after midnight and during the day). There's a hotel garage - but they charge 25 Euro per 24hrs - quite expensive! The Moevenpick is a 100% non-smoking hotel (at least, all rooms - we saw some ashtrays in the lobby) - so not really the place to go if you're smoking. The (standard) room was nice and well designed, lots of Cable TV channels and great views towards the skyline of Frankfurt (we got a room in the 5th floor). Minibar pricey (a little bit more pricey than in the Marriott, if I remember correctly), room service is available. We didn't take breakfast nor other food in the hotel, so cannot report about that. There was only a shower cubicle in the bathroom, no tub, but the bathroom was spacious enough. Comfortable double bed, and the windows could be opened. Allover, a nice stay in a nice modern hotel with a particular design. I can't really complain about anything, though I think that the Marriott leaves a better impression in terms of service and elegance (the Marriott is rated as 5 star in Frankfurt - German classification -, the Moevenpick as a 4 star). The Moevenpick had regular cheap rates for this weekend, so lots of tourists stayed there, not the same clientele as the Marriott's one. No mention of priceline by the way.. but as the price was almost exactly the same as offered by the hotel, no reasons for that... Photos
  14. Stayed here for 2 nights and was very happy with the Marriott. It's really underrated by Priceline with 3 stars.. by German standards, a solid 5 star hotel. The Marriott is quite new, and thus everything in the hotel is rather brandnew and in excellent condition. The lobby is quite huge with several levels and a nice cosy hotel bar. The lobby is very light during the day because of the glass pyramid above it. The hotel is very centrally located, within walking distance to both the central train station and the Dom (cathedral). We got a room facing the large (and closed) inner courtyard - so a very quiet room too. Check-in was extremely friendly and all the room preferences were honored (except for high floor room - due to my wish for a smoking room). The parking ticket could be modified to a 3-day-ticket with unlimited in/outs (however expensive with 22 Euro per 24-hrs-period). We were offered an upgrade to club floor for 49 Euro surcharge per night, which we denied (it's well worth the price if you're into breakfast, as breakfast is charged with 23 Euro per person). There are rooms with shower only and rooms with shower/tub (I assume). We were asked and went for a room with a shower cubicle only (which was perfect for us). The room was nice and comfortable (new Marriott beds), and a little bit non-standard in terms of layout (more like a small "L"), quite nice. The furniture was solid and fitted well with the whole design of the hotel. Bathroom nice too. Nice black-white photos of Cologne on the walls and one flower-picture. Coffe/teamaker in the room and rather large TV set (not TFT). The windows (two actually) could be opened towards the inner courtyard. We ordered room-service one evening after midnight and there's only a limited choice after midnight, but you can still order a pizza or roastbeef, so ok. Nice food, nicely decorated (one rose too) and tasty. Short delivery time. By the way, from channel 1 on the TV set you can spy in the kitchen.. funny.. and somehow strange.. (including original sound). So what can I say? You can feel yourself lucky if you get this great hotel on Priceline. While the service level is quite similar to the Renaissance one's, the Marriott is however the superior hotel due to its modern rooms and facilities. Photos
  15. Berlin usually lacks the masses of business travellers which other German cities in the Western part of the country have. That's why it's sometimes harder to get a cheap room in Berlin in the summer months or over long weekends than it is the case for cities like Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and even Hamburg (where it's usually vice versa).
  16. Moevenpick Hotel Frankfurt City 4-star West Ecke Hemmerichsweg, Den Haager Strasse 5 Frankfurt, Germany 49 69 788 0750 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$54.00 Subtotal: US$108.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$24.82 Total Charges: US$132.82 First try, only for Frankfurt-West.... was hoping for the Marriott... (the Moevenpick doesn't have smoking rooms :-( ) No savings at all... advance purchase raste on moevenpick.com: 47.20 EUR MOEVENPICK ADVANCE PURCHASE RATE Used savingsbarn.com
  17. yepp.. that would be more appropriate.. (but the Marriott Berlin used to be rated as a 3* as well before they upgraded it to a 4star in Priceline).. might happen one day...
  18. Marriott Cologne 3-star Cologne Johannisstrasse 76-80 Cologne, Germany 49 221 942220 Check-In Date: Thu, Aug 2, 2007 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Aug 4, 2007 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$70.00 Subtotal: US$140.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$29.41 Total Charges: US$169.41 -- 4 star rejected up to $64; $70 was first bid for 3star.. went a little bit higher than usual for 3star level, because I was hoping for the Marriott; was afraid to get the Mercure Severinshof which showed a regular rate of only 58 EUR per night incl. taxes for these dates. But everything went out fine. Marriott.com wants 104 Euro for the first night, 101 for the second one. So around 30% savings. Used savingsbarn.com
  19. The Courtyard City Centre is a quite new and rather large (> 250 rooms) hotel, and located between Potsdamer Platz and Alexanderplatz. The immediate surroundings are a bit boring, more a living area with large appartment houses (east German type), but quite quiet. Lots of parkings available around but be careful, as you'll have to pay by hour during the day (during the night free of charge). That's why I later used the garage of the Courtyard (14 Euro per day, but you can get a 2-day pass or more with unlimited entries and exits at the front desk, which makes it conveniant). Check-in was a breeze, friendly, no priceline comments, no credit card wanted. We got a room in the 5th floor (5 out of 6) which was in excellent condition (still quite new), and well equipped (desk, 55cm TV, mini-fridge - not a minibar, but 1 large bottle of sparkling water was provided for free -, iron/ironing board, king size bed). The room is a little bit on the small side, but well-designed. There's a comfy chair near the window and a small table. One part of the window can be opened. The bathroom was quite nice with a tub-shower combination, rather large for a Courtyard. There's a restaurant / bar in the hotel (more bistro-style) with quiet inexpensive food. In the room folder, they say room service is available until 11pm, but actually this depends on the availability of the waiters in the restaurants. Upon two occasions, they were too busy and asked us to eat in the restaurant or to pick up the food in the restaurant. All over, a quite nice Courtyard, new and comfortable. For the Priceline-bid it was quite a deal. Photos
