  1. effectively, West HK Island would be more convenient to get to Wanchai/Causeway bay, especially if you get a hotel @admirality station (like the JW Marriott or the Conrad). TST is not a very big issue neither, just that you'd have to change from the red line to the blue one @admirality station. http://www.mtr.com.hk/jplanner/flash_eng/index.php
  2. not really.. (been there last time in march 2011).. there is still a free wifi access available which is "low-speed".. you have to pass via the usual log-in window there that comes up once after you've connected to the in-house-wifi. They first offer paid premium access, but then there's a small (little bit hidden) option too, to use free basic access with auto-discon every 60 minutes.
  3. yeah something like that... but of course it depends if you want to take the risk of changing hotels in case if
  4. Tough battle.. tried first for 23 to 25 may (only West HK Island+free rebid zones, excluding TST) up to $185, rejected. Changed dates to May 28-30. Only West HK Island, @$170, rejected with counteroffer to raise by $40. Refused counteroffer, added East HK Island, upped to $189 - got the JW Marriott (my preferred choice). Jw Marriott Hong Kong 5 Star West Hong Kong Island Pacific Place 88 Queensway Central, Hong Kong 852-28108366 Check-In Date: Sat, May 28, 2011 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, May 30, 2011 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$189.00 Subtotal: US$378.00 Taxes & Fees: US$53.72 Total Charges: US$431.72 Used the PRICELINE Link, of course :) Marriott.com wants 2640 HK$+Taxes for these dates (advance purchase rate), so around 340 US$+tax..
  5. Got the Moevenpick on first try (only for 4star, FRA-West zone). It's ok though i was hoping for the Marriott. Moevenpick Hotel Frankfurt City Check-In Date: Fri, Mar 11, 2011 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Mar 13, 2011 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$69.00 Subtotal: US$138.00 Taxes & Fees: US$19.84 Total Charges: US$157.84 used the PRICELINE Link, of course.
  6. just behind the Four Seasons :-) you you were lucky not to be "upgraded" to the Amari Watergate.. have a good stay!
  7. this period is high season.. and it's been years ago that 5stars BKK (excluding the Amari) have shown up @bids of around +/-US$50, and the Thai Baht is still strong... so I wouldn't expect any good deals for the time being on PRICELINE for 5stars (Sukh + Silom-Riv) for this period.
  8. looks like a free "upgrade" to 5star... while the 4star Courtyard in this zone is superior to the "5star" Amari, IMHO happened to me, too, last time when trying to get the CY.. ended up with an "upgrade" to the Amari on PL
  9. sorry, check-out date should be the 11th, it's 2 nights
  10. A friend of mine got the Ren Harbourside in Vancouver, downtown zone for 85$ bid; original offer: $70 for 3-star downtown - was rejected with counteroffer of $85 which she accepted. Was upgraded to 4-star and got the Ren. She used the PRICELINE Link. retail price was around $220 us per night incl tax, so more than 50% savings
  11. A friend of mine got the NH Carlton in Amsterdam for this night, first bid of $90 was accepted (maybe a slight overbid).. (sorry, but she forgot to pass via the PRICELINE - Link from this board :-( )
  12. hmm.. no idea... i rarely take breakfast... and didn't ask.. and wasn't told anything neither.. sorry
  13. Very nice aparthotel in Sathorn, soi 3. Well, it's not really a 5-star-hotel, as classified by priceline, as it doesn't come with the usual amenities of a full-service Marriott-hotel, but otherwise you'll get at least 65sqm of space in your suite which is really nicely furnished, two LCD screens, one 40". HBO, Starmovies available + DVD Player (HDMI). There's a nice sitting room with couch and desk and TV and an open kitchen including dishwasher, microwave and coffeemaker, big refrigerator that serves as minibar as well (items rather expensive for Thailand, better buy your own outside). The sleeping room is of good size too, and also comes with a flat TV and another desk (hi-speed internet available, wired, at charge, around 650 THB for 24 hours). Rather big bathroom with rainshower and seperate tub. Hotel is quiet, windows can be opened a bit. Smoking rooms available. There's a saltwalter pool on the 5th floor, reasonably sized (plus pool bar and gym and games room). Location is not bad, I personally like Sathorn, but it takes some walking to get to Lumpini Park MRT station (subway). Saladaeng Skytrain better to reach by taxi-meter or motorbike taxi. Not a lot to do in immediate neighbourhood of the hotel, but silom road / patpong is quite nearby. posted some photos here.
  14. got one more night for 08th January to 09th January, same price, same zone, same class, first bid ($70) on a seperate bid ("add-one-night" was not available anymore). so total stay period 08th Jan - 12th Jan. Thanks. (used the PRICELINE link, as usual, also for this night)
  15. added one night succesfully at the same rate via the "add one more night" functionality, so check out jan 12th
  16. Marriott Executive Apartments Sathorn Vista Bangkok Thailand Riverside - Silom 1 Sathorn Soi 3, South Sathorn Road Bangkok, Thailand 66 2 3436789 Check-In Date: Sat, Jan 9, 2010 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Jan 11, 2010 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$70.00 Subtotal: US$140.00 Taxes & Fees: US$33.24 Total Charges: US$173.24 --- first bid of 65$ refused (only 5* Riverside) - counteroffered with $17 plus.. refused counteroffer, waited, retried with $70 - worked perfectly. Exactly the place I wanted (had a cancellable reservation for this place already - @3500 THB++ per night - so around 35-40% savings). :-) Used the PRICELINE link, of course!
  17. Not much to add to the above reviewer. While the rooms are rather nice and large and the views are nice, the location is quite a horror due to the heavy traffic here, probably the point with the highest degree of traffic in Bangkok, so even some taxi drivers refuse to take you there. Public transport (skytrain/MRT) is not around the corner, and if you don't want to walk 10 minutes in the heat of Bangkok (and the traffic noise in this area), you'll have to catch a motorbike taxi to get to the next skytrain/mrt station. Not much shopping within walking distance neither. Service ok, but too little front desk staff for this huge hotel. Indeed everything not up-to-par with the other pl-5-stars of Bangkok.
  18. you can also check out the price comparison tool at trivago
  19. It's for sure a good property, but it doesn't play in the same league as the other 5-star-priceline-hotels in Bangkok..
  20. grrr... wanted the Courtyard (first bid 4star, siam sq) because booked in for a stay-on-miles the night before there... and was upgraded to 5star..:-( Congratulations, we’ve upgraded your hotel quality level to a 5-star hotel. Your price of $51 was accepted by Amari Watergate Hotel. Amari Watergate Hotel 5 Star Siam Square 847 Petchburi Road Pratunam Bangkok, Thailand 66-2-6539000 Check-In Date: Sat, Dec 19, 2009 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Dec 20, 2009 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$51.00 Subtotal: US$51.00 Taxes & Fees: US$16.38 Total Charges: US$67.38 Amari.com wants 2990 thb / night all-in (about 88 $US), so small savings. Used the PRICLINE link, of course.
  21. "Usually", the Renaissance had shown up previously for KUL, with the "New Wing" as 4 star and the "Renaissance Wing" as 5star.. (avoid the "New Wing" in any case!). Sometimes also the Sheraton Imperial (5-star).. but has been quite a while since I've seen it been reported. I don't assume that there's a big difference between using the asian or the us version of priceline.. seems they have the same inventory (no guarantee though).
  22. the only reported hotel is the albert court, that I once got (3star.. hoping for the Interconti at that time that was also listed as 3star at that time in pl) (but didn't check-in finally). nowadays pl offers bidding up to 5 star in bugis.. my guess is that the intercontinental could be a 4-star oder 5-star in bugis area, but not sure at all..
