Thanks for the reply guys. i will be staying with friends 10/15 through 10/20, but I was thinking to get my own room 10/16 & 17. So, I'm really not tied to anything (I have a place to stay already)..just thinking if I can get a great deal for a couple of nights. I guess I'm wondering if the best deals to be had are hotels with vacant rooms the day of arrival or in advance. Or, there is just not way of knowing...LOL.

Did not use Hotwire for purchase of Old San Juan trip. Went with apt rental for two nights.

Looking for the best value and best deal, when do you think would be the best time to purchase using hotwire? I would think you can't look too far in advance or too close to your arrival date...or maybe not?

Looks like they bumped this up to 4.5 starts was 4 - ?? I can't remember the amenities when I looked on Hotwire but here is what they have: Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center Handicap Accessible Not sure how it got moved to 4.5 since all the comments on Trip Advisor are from people with only 1 review? Hmmmmm???

I'm hoping for lodging specifcally in Old San Juan and not the surrounding area. Since most of the hotels there are older I'm wondering if the lack of amenities would be an indication for Old San Juan. Thanks for your assistance. This site rocks!!
